something to glow on, something to grow on. atmosphere is casual & relaxing.viewis great. food & prices were good. needs major improvement in service. when we walked in there were literally 4 servers/employees standing around by the bar who looked at us but never moved. we seated ourselves. there was one menu on the table- but 5 of us. not one employee walked over. they were very close in proximity to our table-they had to see that 5 people were struggling to share one menu. after some time i got up to ask if we could have more than one menu. they kind of looked at us like we were interrupting. three of our group did not receive napkins/flatware--luckily we had sandwiches & fries. i had to go to the bar to ask for refill on drinks. again, lots of standing around, chit chatting w/ eachother. would i return? yes, but w/ hopes of a much better trained, improved waitstaff who were there to work instead of stand/socialize.

its on the t-head marina with a goodviewof the various boats in their slips and the downttown skyline. nice place to be when the sun goes down and eat some shrimp ( i'm not much for lobster bisque myself, but, its supposed to be pretty good...certainly, their shrimp are good, fresh from the gulf and generous in size ). service is young ( say, 20-26 y/o waiters ) and the manager should really coach those young waiters in how to serve a cold beer or even a lukewarm one. this may be texas, but, many of us have suufficient erudition to drink a beer from a glass and not straight from the bottle ( there may be some rhodes scholars disguised as rodeo clowns out there, but, on the whole, most people who drink beer and who are not spring breakers prefer to drink it out of a glass into which the beer has been poured by the attentive waiter and not have a distracted twenty year-old airhead set down a bottle on the table and walk away. "yo, dude...ah." ). on a day when its 98 degrees out, many of us that drink beer might like it in a frosted mug ( note...frosted mugs are not margarita glasses with salt around the rim...just a simple frosted mug, thankyou, if we want more sodium with our beer, we'll poison ourselves at our preferred dosage, )...just does nicely with the heat, etc.

another small detail, when you hire live music...next time dont bring out some old guy so far past his glory days that he mumbles the verses of the jimmy buffett he's singing and periodically forgets his place . that fellow sounded worse than my redbone hound on a bender, sorry. and maybe its not so cool to criticize his efforts, but, there are limits and....get a better act on stage, please.

i ordered the grilled amberjack because it was the first time i'd seen jackfish on a menu before. surprisingly, its not bad and their cook hhas his grilling time. down perfectly. they could work on the selection of sauces they serve it with, nonetheless. i wasnt much impressed by their cocktail sauce. they do a great batter on the shrimp that is somewhat reminiscent of tempura batter...or maybe thats what its supposed to be ? they also have a good bar and i found that part of the ambience to be spot on ( despite the painful fact that the waiters have not yet learned to serve a beer ).

there is a fine little breeze coming in off the corpus christi bay in the late afternoon and it makes things quite amenable after you get settled in. yes, there are some regular local customers in evidence. saw a couple of boats come in around sunset. harrison's tavern on the bay is worth visiting and forming youur own opinion of.

theviewis great but the food is not. this place has a great location right on the dock. i've returned here hoping the food would get better, but it never does. the service is also poor. there are better options nearby, but admittedly none has the same "on the water" feel as this place. i would only go here for liquid nourishment.

i have been going to tavern on the bay since they opened. i always enjoyed the waterfront and open air dining although they were aways a bit overpriced and never (until recently) offered any kind of happy hour specials on wine etc. what i have noticed though, is that quality of service (evident in reviews) since the beginning until now (1st quarter 2012) has drastically taken a nose dive. also, quality of food has plumeted it seems from when they first opened. went there last thursday, got there with a friend about 7:00 waited out front about 5 minutes before being greeted. would have liked a table overlooking water but it was full and we were forced to sit all the way at end of sidewalk next to the dumpster. i am not a big complainer so i quickly found a niceviewof the marina to take my mind off the less than appealing dumpster behind us. the waitress came to take our drink orders. my friend ordered a beer and i ordered the long island ice tea....he gets his beer after some time but no long island in site, no ice water either...she apologized and said it would be right out so we ordered food and continued to wait and wait and wait....in the meantime there are a group of wait and kitchen staff sitting on the ground behind the dumpster smoking and the cigerette smoke was blowing directly to our table yet their attitude was like they really didnt care because they continued to sit there and laugh and talk for some time. our food came out we had chips and salsa and the pecan crusted shrimp (which were good and still warm and fresh) but it has been a good 30 minutes and i am having to drink my friends beer becauae although we now have food i still do not have my drink. it was disappointing from many angles and i felt a little ashamed because i had told my friend (who was already apprehensive) how nice it was. also, they used to make really good bloody mary (which is hard to find)the last i ordered one there was a very big disappointment. it seems like there is a lack of staff and also the staff that are there do not appear to really care. id like to see them succeed,i love supporting local business and espessally the more mom and pops. when they opened it was very casual...had a great live music everynight from local talent, small menu and was very laid back and was wonderful. it seems now they have tried to get bigger and are not keeping up with the quality. :(

this place used to have decent bar food. their quality has taken a huge nose dive! fish tacos used to be mahi. now they are talipia. nachos: chips soggy, queso dried and crusty=in edible! sent them back. got a pulled pork sammach: so dry it was like jerky!! sent it all back and went to water street seafood for something that was fit for human consumption. its a shame because the tavern has the best waterfront bayviewin town. go and have a cold one, but don't stay for food!!

we have walked past this restaurant on numerous occasions, but only today decided to drop in for lunch.

this place is great. there was a brisk lunch business, but it was not crowded. the wait staff was friendly and attentive. our orders were delivered quickly.

of course, there is the fantasticviewof the bay. it was sunny with a slight breeze today. perfect weather.

to begin, we had two shiners along with hannah's nachos. we could have made a meal out of just that.

my partner ordered the shrimp salad wrap, and i ordered the fish sandwich. we both had onion rings. we liked everything, but we thought the onion rings were just a little too greasy. very good, though.

we intend on coming back again soon and ordering other menu items. we both want to try their burger and fish tacos. everything on the menu looks good.

if you want a nice lunch spot with drinks and a view, tavern on the bay is an excellent choice.

great atmosphere. the food is above average. they have really good melba sauce to go with the beignets and it also comes with the pecan crusted shrimp as well. for brunch, they have great sandwiches too. the service is not great, but it's more about the atmosphere there. beautifulviewof the marina and often they have a musician playing.

recommend (but with reservations). my co-worker and i went for lunch here today after hearing good reviews from a friend. first, theviewof the cc skyline and marina is really great. plenty of shade, lots of fans, and breeze blowing off the bay made it completely comfortable to sit outside and have lunch. second, the service was fantastic. i had read several bad reviews especially about the service, so i was apprehensive about it going in. but we were greeted cheerfully, quickly seated, served well, and our server was very attentive and kept our glasses full without having to be asked. third, the food.....i'm sad to say my friend and i were both a little disappointed. the side salads we ordered served with the house dressing, a blueberry vinaigrette, which was very tangy and tasty. the salad was underwhelming. i know! how do you mess up a salad? mixed greens were fresh, and it was topped with diced tomatoes and red onions. that's fine, but for almost $4, i would have expected cheese/cranberries/walnuts/croutons or some other variation of an upscale side salad. also, salads did not come with crackers or bread. my friend and i both ordered the mahi mahi fish tacos (blackened.) the fish was excellent, the aioli sauce was great, cole slaw dry but okay...tortillas? not impressed. again, how do you mess up tortillas? this is south texas. homemade tortillas are a must. these tortillas tasted like they were straight out of a plastic bag from the grocery store. homemade tortillas would have made all the difference in our lunch experience. also, though the salsa was good, the tortilla chips were stale. the restaurant opens at 11am, and we arrived at 11:30. how were the chips already stale? my friend and i summed up the restaurant like this: awesome place to have a drink and enjoy theviewand there is such potential here...if only they would pay a little more attention to the details on their menu...

i am not one to complain but my family and i were very dissapointed with our visit here. my margarita was warm and tasted like water and my brother's beer was warm as well. the food was nothing special and we had a hard time wanting to pay our bill since it was such a dissapointment. service was alright but theviewfrom the deck was nice.

dtown gem. a nice place to meet friends and enjoy family. the menu is simple but there are some shining stars. the cajun chicken tenders are baked and not fried with a great flavor. the salads have all the upscale fix n (creanberry, goat cheese, purple onion) the beer is cold and the wine is corked. it's hard to beat theviewand theviewis the real star attraction.
