harrison's landing

good atmosphere - mediocre food. my husband and i decided to try the tavern on a monday night to avoid potential crowds during the weekend. i had read the somewhat mixed reviews, but it has a really great location so we gave it a try. it was not too crowded and the evening was really nice weather wise so a greatplacefor outdoor dining.

we started out with the garlic shrimp dip with cream cheese and spinach. it wasn't too bad but the spinach consisted of one leaf cut in tiny strips and used as garnish on top. i had expected the spinach would be incorporated into the dish somewhat like a light spinach dip. not really worth the $7 for cream cheese with a few tiny shrimp pieces, spinach leaf and chips.

i had read a good review on the monte cristo and had never had one before so that is what i ordered. the sandwich arrived and it was so very greasy, i had to ask for additional napkins and the two i was brought was not even enough. there was at least 2-3 tablespoons of grease in my plate under the sandwich and as much still in the sandwich. you may say that this is what is expected for a "fried sandwich", but my husband has had monte cristos at other restaurants in the past and said they were definitely not saturated like what i received. i ended up sick most of the night due to the "overload" of grease after eating only one-half of the sandwich. i really should have gone with a salad or shrimp poboy.

he was more sensible in his selection of the mahi-mahi fish tacos and they were decent. i also order ice tea which turned out to be instant and i had to ask for refills as our waitress was alright but seemed to not have enought training on customer service.

overall it might have been a bad menu selection on my part, but we probably will not try theplaceagain. for $40 bucks there is better value elsewhere. if we want the outdoors eating experience will probably go to snoopy's. at least the fried food is not greasy .

check out harrison's. was in town touring the uss lexington and was looking for aplaceto eat lunch outdoor on the water. i found harrison's landing on urbanspoon and decided to give it a shot. glad we did! great food, view, and our waitor was incredible. some of the best guacamole i've had too! fish tacos and monte cristo were delicious. harrison's landing is worth trying out if you're in the corpus christi area.

thisplacehas ok food. the lobster bisque was pretty good. i ordered the monte cristo and it was over fried and too greasy fort taste. i've had better monte croatia elsewhere. the chef special shrimp and cajun chicken tenders were too salty. only decent meal we had was the mahi mahi fish tacos. try the pink lady drink. it's good.

both steaks were cooked medium rare perfectly. the flavor of the steaks were... well there was no flavor at all!!! it tasted as though the steak was taken straight from the cow and grilled then washed off thoroughly and then served. no garlic butter sauce applied to these two perfectly cooked pieces of beef as claimed on the menu.

the a-1 sauce was on point. the waiter brought it out and before we tried the steaks we had said, “hope we don’t need that.” well... we did and he said, “i told you and that’s why i brought it out.”

the beer that a friend got was flat and didn’t finish it saying, “this is the first beer that i’ve left on a table unfinished in 20 years.” my root beer was good for the record.

the service is not what i would call welcoming or caring of theirplaceof employment.

the milk shakes that we got from whataburger were the highlights of our meal.

i've given thisplacethree separate chances and each time was worse than the one before. burnt food, watered down drinks, and super slow service. only thing thisplaceis good for is a beer on the water, bottled of course so they can't mess it up. someone needs to unleash john taffer on this place. go anywhere else.

i can't say enough great things about this place. the live music last night was perfect! not too loud, not too quiet, just on point! our server mike was great! both managers andrea, and kerri stopped by to make sure everything was ok. everyone was running around helping everyone out! we go out to eat quite often and the teamwork shown here is few and far between from my experience in corpus. we took their 1 hour boat tour after dinner and mike told us that we could bring our what was left from our bottle of wine we purchased (very fair priced i must say) so it was the icing on the cake from an already perfect night! my girlfriend also got some nice things in their boutique which i was happy to purchase for her because those too were fairly priced. mike told us that they do 2 hour sailing charters so we are definitely going to take advantage of that soon since she told me she has never been sailing. i wish there was a 6th star on here so i could give thisplacewhat it deserves! you have a customer for life harrison's landing! thanks for the great evening last night!

great staff, terrible management. i've been to this restaurant several times now and each time i've had a different experience. there is one consistency, terrible management. during this visit, i had called ahead to inform them of a large party at a specific time, to which they confirmed they wouldplaceus on the call ahead list to expedite the seating process. upon arrival to the restaurant, three hours later, we were told we would be sat next. as we patiently waited for a table to be cleared, we noticed guests who arrived after us, with the same amount of guests, were provided tables and sat in a timely manner. after an hour of waiting for this table to be "provided" for us, we decided to forego this already terrible experience. although the experience was a complete disaster, andrea was phenomenal and was pretty much running the extended section. she was friendly, attentive and helpful even as we were standing around with no table to be served at. if she was placed in the management position, you may be on the right track in running that place.

normally good, today service at bar was rotten. i have been to harrison's landing frequently, and have never had a complaint about either the food or service. today, however, i sat at the bar outside. the bartender was so engrossed with football and chitchatting with friends that i think he forgot he actually had customers. not just me, others around the bar were trying to get his attention. may be a one off bad experience, i hope so. this is normally a funplacefor lunch.

dissapointed. niceplacewith good service but oyster po-boy was not good. thick soggy breaded oysters that were tough and not on crusty french bread. fries didn't have much flavor and were not crisp.

thisplaceis awesome! we went to corpus on a small business trip and this was theplaceof eatery we chose. awesome atmosphere, very kid friendly menu, relaxing, excellent food here!!!

p.s. my waitress gave me extra grilled veggies when she found out i breastfed.

sail67. tried it again a year later! even after saying hello to kathy harrison we still had bad service!! actually the worst service ever in corpus christi,texas!!!! disgusting!!!!!!

hjh. i have alway's loved thisplaceoverall! the new year has brought them to a new low! we were there in march for hh! the worst service and servers ever! we were treated as if they didn't need our $$$. might consider going back to the walkup (self) service! at least you would know who your server is! won't go back! a once local and loyal customer!

good food slow service.. great food but not theplaceto go if you have engagements afterward. slow service.

go at lunch, never at dinner. lunch is always amazing. food is fast and service is good. dinner has always proven to be unsuccessful. food arrives cold or they lose the ticket or forget you altogether. servers have too many tables and to focus on each group. beautifulplaceto sit and relax. i love theplacebut just don't eat there after 6.

ending up at thisplaceby complete accident, however i am convinced it was fate. my plate was cleaned. it was late night on a sunday and there was a bit of a wait for our order to be taken. when our food arrived the presentation was beautiful and even better than expected. delicious and fresh. our server micko had the best personality. give thisplacea try you will not be disappointed.

good food & pleasant atmosphere. we chose thisplacebecause of the reviews, location, and listed as "gluten-free friendly." i booked on the urbanspoon website, and under notes mentioned that we would need a gf menu, or at least a waiter with knowlege of the menu items. when we arrived, even though we had reservations, we were told there would be a wait, unless we wanted to be seated "upstairs" over the gift shop. it turned out to be a very quaint and nice spot, with a table by the window overlooking the marina. when we asked about gluten-free items, the waiter gave us a puzzled look, so it was clear he didn't know what gluten-free meant. nonetheless, my husband found something on the menu without wheat in it--the blackended snapper--and he enjoyed it immensely. i had the lime shrimp, which was also very good. i don't know what was in the sauce that accompanied both dishes, but it was delicious! we will definitely go back again.
