turn for the worse. this used to be the go-to sushi place. the thing with fancy sushi across the street was always that they did weird stuff like cheese and mayonnaise that shouldn't come within a mile of sushi. but hana was the normal place. not anymore. after at least the second recent change in ownership, but the first change in menu, the menu is now the weird, overly americanized kind that uses too many things that don't belong, like jalapenos, spicy mayo, etc. if you just want some basic pieces of sushi or sashimi, you can still get that. and there is other normal stuff in the non-sushi department. but try to get a roll without some weird mayo or something from the "spicy _____" department (spicy tuna, spicy crab, etc.), which i always suspect is what they whip up to get some extra life out of older fish. sad. i'm not going here anymore. i hear the hibachiplacein town does sushi so i guess i'll try that.
