hamsa, one word to describe the place would be - opulent. extremely well done interiors which makes you turn your head around 360 degrees to take in the intricate work and thoughts that have gone into the decorations. even the table setting is a bit pretentious with a large intricately carved silver-ish box holding a tiny gulab jamun being served as the welcome'drink'/'sweet'.
the tables are well spaced and spotlights flood the tables but keep in inter-table areas quite dark. difficult to signal a waiter sometimes. they don't take table reservations on weekends. it's a fcfs policy. valet parking is available and it's a not so busy street. so no parking issue.
coming to the food, it's traditional north and south indian affair. rice, roti, starters, drinks all have something unique and new to try out. we tried the spinach chat, raw banana and pomegranate cutlets, 7 daal curry, paneer is roughly ground peas paste and pulao in banana leaf. every item wasgoodin taste and rich in flavor. everything was extremely rich (as in a lot of ghee and oil) so it's a once in a while indulgent dinner place. the rotis were great too. khasta roti and aloo paratha. the drinks had the usual suspects as well as panagam and nannari sherbet as well.goodto taste.
after such an indulgent starters and mains we hardly had space for dessert but still ordered a saffron malai kulfi. we found it a bit too dense and sticky but flavourful.
all in all a great place to go for that special dinner or an indulgent night out.
