the previous 3 times i had been to gypsies with the $40 unlimited menu they were very accomadating with second helpings and the food was flowing with amazing flavours and combos , having a healthy appetite i was very exited to go there again and was recommending the venue to all, however tonight they were quite reluctant to accomodate my second helpings and it was like begging for food ...on top of that when we did want to order again they requested we pay a surcharge.......really ..... i thought unlimited did mean until u were full...all in all very disappointing and will definately not be going back or recomending the venue again

gypsy crapas house. we had the 30 banquet.
we had a voucher which said 14 dishes and we received 10. portion sizes were ridiculously small and we were left hungry.
the staff were rude and pushy.
thoroughly disappointed with the whole experience.

fabulous. the food was awesome--great variety and unique exotic flavors. the ambiance matched the food with live music. the wait staff was knowledgeable and very pleasant. we are going back--next time for the (unlimited) tapas banquet feast.

disappointing. unfortunately, the most disappointing meal i have eaten out. i went with 5 other people and we ordered the $30 pp banquet. maybe we shouldn't have expected much for $30 but it was called a banquet. initially told it was 15 items, later when the last didn't arrive, told it was actually only 14 dishes.
the size of the dishes was the main problem. for 6 people, one of the dishes that arrived was 4 bite size pieces of lamb, another 6 pieces of chorizo. a small plate with 3 strips of roasted capsicum and 3 mushrooms and some olives came out between three people which was counted as three dishes, outrageous! one dish was just some rocket and pinenuts.
we had one vegan in the group and were assured that they could easily cater for vegans. there was 5 dishes which were not vegan and no alternative was brought out. when questioning a different waiter later on we were told that actually they did not cater for vegans.
the food was edible but not incredible. if you are going to go order the $40 all you can eat, at least then you wont go hungry.

great night!. we were a large group and went with the $40.00 unlimited tapas dishes. we sat in the gypsy room which is a separate room from the restaurant.

a decent tapas menu with most of the items available. once all the menu items have been served you can then order second and third servings.

staff were excellent and very accommodating to us.

the baked feta with a dollop of red sauce, lamb, greek chicken, meatballs stuffed with bocconcini and vanilla pork belly were my favs!! really wanted to try the chestnut and beetroot ravioli however they had run out.

this is a tapas restaurant and therefore the servings are small however with the repeated servings you will be satisfied.

never going back, not worth the money!! got the $30 banquet which included 15 tapas dishes. the dishes were the smallest servings i have ever had from a restaurant. for example, one dish included rocket by itself and one dish included 6 beans which was to share between four people!! when we complained to the owner he didn't want to hear our feedback at all. don't waste your time or money!! l

accompanied my daughter who had a livingsocial deal for $39 which equated to $90 value. we could only order $30 a head banquet if we wanted to eat with them ...so we did. each of the 14 tapas comprised a single piece of food x4 for the four of us ...literally. so 4 slices of chorizo, 4 tiny slivers of sardine, 6 green beans (yes generous with the beans) etc etc. when the food stopped we thought it must be "entre" as the kids both still hungry. the waitress and chef must have anticipated (or been embarassed about) our reaction coz they offered extra dish. however given the misely serves we weren't sure how we would split 6 beans to fill us up. in fairness the owner came to us offering extra food but was less inclined to take my offer of free advice which was remove the $30 banquet because it's anything but. if you want to try then go for the $40 a head option but for that price i can think of many superior restaurants i'd spend my money at.

we had a fantastic night out and left feeling full (unbutton the jeans kind of full)! i'd been the gypsy once before, for my hens night years ago and the food was as good now as it was then. we selected the $40 banquet p/h and had well more than 10 dishes (the quick arithmetic used if we ordered straight off the menu). highlights were definitely the polenta, stuffed peppers and of course, the pork belly. great live music. great sangria and just a fantastic night out! definitely be back again soon!

over all great night. we had a table of four and we chose the $40 a head banquet. i am fairly sure we tried every dish on the menu and then some. the boys really like the pork belly, sardines, meatballs and lamb. i loved the baked fetta and the rest of the menu options.
the service was really good and the atmosphere was really lovely. we did walk out of there spending $100 each, which was a little surprise? other than that, it was great.

loved the food , also that you can order as much as you like for 1 fixed price. great service to go along with the great food. we will be back

once bitten, twice shy..... great atmosphere and fantastic customer service, unfortunately that is where it ends. the food was extremely low quality. we ordered the $30 per head banquet. we were told this option was the chef's choice of dishes only (we did not get to choose anything from the menu). we feel ripped off. the food we were served was cheap low grade, pickled vegetables, fatty meat, scraps of seafood. 15 dishes between the two of us and we were out of their in less than an hour and still hungry. most of the plates were taken away almost full. never again, still can't get the bad taste out of my mouth.

seriously not worth it. i went here with my family (party of 6) for my mums birthday. we all ordered the chefs selection at $30 a head. what we got was 2 plates of each tapas dish (total of around 12) to share between all of us. many of hear dishes were things like a rocket salad and olives. as a result we were all left hungry and paid in excess of $200. service was forgettable as it felt like you were forgotten. he choices of $30 or $40 banquets weren't properly explained to us at the onset and the food was nothing special. was left really disappointed and still hungry. not worth it people...

we had the $40/head option. i came here with my husband and 4 other friends. we had the $40/head banquet that you get as much as you like for 2 hours. this started off great and the table was chockers with yummy food. after about an hour they really dropped off and would bring out one small dish between six of us about every 15 minutes. being aware of the time and the hungry bellies of some of the guys we had at the table we asked for the food to increase and picked the dishes we have not tried. they were more then happy to keep the food flowing after this so speak up if you think you are not getting your monies worth. the jazz band was very entertaining and the cozy courtyard with the heaters kept us warm on the cold night. was a great birthday dinner!

ho hum. this venue is not bad but it's not anything special either.
great things: good and affordable wine list, friendly attentive staff, fast service, dishes are only $8 each.
not so good things: quality of food was average at best, some dishes e.g. meatballs and pork belly only had 2 portions, we had a view of the kitchen and saw the cooks reheating dishes in takeaway containers then serving them up.
decor was very simple, tiled floor and basic tables and chairs.

great night, good food but left hungry.... this place is tucked away and i'm glad a friend suggested it. the jazz band was amazing, great ambiance and friendly staff. their downfalls were that the service is all over the place, we didnt really know who was our offical waitor/tress, and had to wait forever to get anything. we had the banquet menu but a lot of the stuff they gave us wasnt what everyone liked (anchovies and lamb) and we were all starving, definately didnt bring out enough food for the group and we all left hungry. if i went again, which i will i would order off the menu rather. overall though good night.
