won't go there again to eat .... after looking at their site online and downloading the menu, three of us decided on the $40ea buffet after the waiter explained to us that each tappa was $8 and looking at the other diners portions, and quick calculation we'd probably need at the least, 10 portions each.
i ordered a glass of sangria, which was watery, my two companions a coffee and a natural coke.
around 8 portions arrived, hummas & bread, sardines, baked feta, olives etc which was quickly demolished and cleared. another 3 portions of various arrived and cleared and then another 2.
after that it was in drips and drabs. one little plate at a time. we thought they'de forgotton we were there. c'mon, three little meatballs, which were delicious but there were three of us. the baked polenta was yum, but divided up into 3 gave only a mouthful. that was pretty much how it was for the night.
little plates of tappa's.
the onlinemenusays calamari, smoked eel, kingfish creole, duck raviolli, sticky rice w port, sage and porcini etc, but we didn't see any of that. there would of been only 4 items on thatmenuthat we recieved.
however the service was excellent when we first got there, but petered out as the night progressed.
i must say however, the jazz band were excellent and the ambience great.
but in a nutshell, we won't be going back there again.
its very expensive for what you pay.
i don't mind expensive, s'long as the overall dining experience is great.

love this place! service is fantastic, very friendly. food is always amazing, great offering which changes regularly. themenuon zomato isn't current. lots of gf options, yummy cocktails, groovy music. tucked away in a little corner of freo, i've tried solo meals, dates & groups...always a winner!

what a great little spot with outside live music, if you can book a table outside for more of the fremantle vibe. just some words of advice don't look at themenuand decide, we did this and we're very surprised when we found out that themenuisn't the same. i understand that most restaurants change their menus but a note of warning once booking the reservation would have been nice like most do. i enjoyed the food anyhow and tried a lot of new things. be prepared to be waiting a while for drinks, we waiting 18 minutes for one and the other four guest were missed, however they did apologise.

great night out, ate way too much!. a group of 6 friends went there on a friday night, glad we booked as there was hardly a spare table the whole time we were there. we opted for the chef's suggestedmenubut probably should have ordered off themenu- the food was great but we had too much. it was served very quickly too until we asked for a break. we opted for their own wine, all organic and reasonably priced as there is no byo, as well as a jug of red sangria which was a hit! seriously good food, we'll be back.

don't do the 'set/all you can eat' menu.. went as part of a group of 7 and ordered the $45 per head 'all you can eat'. well they kept bring bits out but are clearly trying to fill you up on the cheap dishes to make! endless amounts of bread and 5 dishes of potato but only a prawn, an a rib each and 3 meatballs between 7?! not worth the $45 per head and it was a very expensive night as not byo either. if you go order what you want off themenuand don't do the set one it is a complete rip off. also i wasn't particually impressed with the quality of the food either at least make amazing if you are going to serve so little.

never a complaint about this place. had lunch here today and as usual the food was good, fast and fresh. we have eaten here many times and we have never had any complaints.
always had good service and the price and the food is just right, although we only ever order the banquet. we were sad how ever when they took the vanilla pork belly off themenuas it was the bomb.
i recommend this restaurant to everyone.

excellent food let down by questionable service. i have to say that i thoroughly enjoy the food at gypsy tapas, so much so that i travel nearly 1hr and a half just to get there. i always choose the banquet since i am a big eater and it never fails to tickle the palette. unfortunately, the service gets really bad when you finish the chef's menu. the staff avoid your table and all the pricey items on themenuare always "unavailable" this was not the case 1 year ago when i went there so the standard has dropped in the year. the staff usually will give you good service until you have shown that you are capable of eating alot whereby which a switch is flicked and you are shown a sour face when you want to order more which is truly a shame. i do not mind paying more but let me eat as much as i want considering its "unlimited"!!!!!

in sum, excellent food usually let down by poor service

loved it - i'll be back again and again. i don't understand what these bad reviews are about.

we had the $45 banquet (why the racist comments about the gypsies giving you the cheapest? we had a huge variety). the food was wonderful and there was so much of it.

our booking was for the 6.30pm and at 8.45pm the waitress actually came and asked us if there are any other options we'd like to try from themenuor have again. we ordered more dishes, mulled wine (soooo good) then tea and coffee. we weren't rushed at all and they happily let us saunter out close to 10pm.

the mulled wine and sangria were the best. staff were attentive, polite, friendly and helpful. food was tasty and plentiful. atmosphere and music great. we had a table for 7 and we'll all definately be back again. i've already recommended it to more friends.

as a long time lover of this place i was appaled to be told on a busy day that even with a booking that i would have to have the mysterymenuat an extra cost. i agree its busy but telling me that its busy and the regulars don't count even when i booked specificity asking on this busy night will it be the normal menu! so i say avoid this place unless its a day when they need the business! if this is the kind of attitude you want then go to gypsy tap ass and enjoy!

on this friday night i felt like going to barcelona and enjoying music, tapas and wine from the catalan region. so i ventured to fremantle’s gypsy tapas, which provided all three. for $40 you can have all you can eat tapas for two hours. my group of four decided to opt for choosing from themenuand a bottle of red. i asked for a bottle of tempranillo (pronounced tempra -ni – yo courtesy of google) but they sold out and provided a lovely cabernet merlot instead. items ordered included broccoli, patata bravas, lamb koftas, baked feta, garlic chicken drumlets, artichoke dip (that ended up being hummus) and eggplant fritters. i was looking at the photos i took and ag

ups and downs, not as good as i remembered. popped in on a saturday afternoon after telling my girlfriend how fabulous this place was after dining there years before. the food started well with the tortilla verde being delicious. from there we had the baked feta with tomato and olive(s), the s is in brackets at themenusaid plural, the dish had only one. generous. the slice of feta was 4 times thinner than it was the previous time i had it and not baked for long enough. lastly we had the balinese rice which was nothing memorable. so basically, since i came here and had a fabulous meal a couple of years ago, prices have gone up 50 cents per dish and quality seems to have dropped. still passable just.

the previous 3 times i had been to gypsies with the $40 unlimitedmenuthey were very accomadating with second helpings and the food was flowing with amazing flavours and combos , having a healthy appetite i was very exited to go there again and was recommending the venue to all, however tonight they were quite reluctant to accomodate my second helpings and it was like begging for food ...on top of that when we did want to order again they requested we pay a surcharge.......really ..... i thought unlimited did mean until u were full...all in all very disappointing and will definately not be going back or recomending the venue again

great night!. we were a large group and went with the $40.00 unlimited tapas dishes. we sat in the gypsy room which is a separate room from the restaurant.

a decent tapasmenuwith most of the items available. once all themenuitems have been served you can then order second and third servings.

staff were excellent and very accommodating to us.

the baked feta with a dollop of red sauce, lamb, greek chicken, meatballs stuffed with bocconcini and vanilla pork belly were my favs!! really wanted to try the chestnut and beetroot ravioli however they had run out.

this is a tapas restaurant and therefore the servings are small however with the repeated servings you will be satisfied.

over all great night. we had a table of four and we chose the $40 a head banquet. i am fairly sure we tried every dish on themenuand then some. the boys really like the pork belly, sardines, meatballs and lamb. i loved the baked fetta and the rest of themenuoptions.
the service was really good and the atmosphere was really lovely. we did walk out of there spending $100 each, which was a little surprise? other than that, it was great.
