went to dinner here last night. service was quick and the food was all very good. i had the scorpion burger which was full of flavor with a nice spicy kick. gf had the lockhart burger hadgoodflavor too. was pleased with the onion rings and fries as well. didn't have a shake myself but many of my friends had one and loved them. i think the one reviewer who mentioned the burgers being greasy maybe mistaking it for the fact that they don't overcook the burger like most places so the burgers are actually still very juicy. looking for a good, not overdone, burger with a nice environment this is an excellent choice.

we were drawn here by murmurings we have heard even from our sources in east texas. we had a great time and brought a student with us, olivia.
jg score of 6/10 (+2 for food, +1 for atmosphere, +1 for price, +1 for fountain diet dr pepper, 0 for typical service and +1 for we would return)
the food wasgoodand we enjoyed it. i had heard of their burger selections like voodoo burgers, texas luau burgers, scorpion burgers...wait, i said, "they have a burger called a 'scorpion burger?"....well, we just had to go then. so, i got the scorpion burger and it was good; my friend got the texas luau burger and he liked it too. the bun seemed too much to me and chewy, but "j" really liked the bun....2 different opinions. we both thought the patties were not big enough but when eating them they were thicker=just not close to matching the bun size. the meat wasgoodtoo. the scorpion was spicy with the trinidad moruga scorpion sauce and the grilled jalapeños but not as bad as you would think. my burger was juicy and that sauce will sting your skin around your lips but not much and did not redden the skin. the jalapeños were good. overall, i would get it again.....i didn't even need a zantac. my friend liked his texas luau and especially the grilled pineapple and we both agreed these were verygoodburgers but not in our top 5 for shreveport/bossier. scorpion burger is still a great name though. the fries and onion rings were above average also, especially when dipped in the jalapeno ranch :)
the atmosphere was cool. we had heard it can be insanely crowded here but when we went it was crowded then thinned out on a friday afternoon by 1:15. it has a modern type decor with metal furniture and wood topped tables. concrete floors and cool light fixtures that are wire fencing wrapped around the lights were a nice touch. we also liked the bin where you can grab old bread if you leave a charity donation.
we all paid around $15 for our meals. it is worth that or a little more.
they have fountain diet dr pepper, diet coke and a host of beers.
our visit....the service was just typical. nothing special at all.
we could easily come back to eat here again.

we waited a while as usual to let them work out their kinks and newness. we sat at the bar and bartenders were very helpful with recommendations and descriptions. i got the guacapotle burger and the wife got the #9 burger, both with the rosemary dusted sweet potato fries. we both enjoyed our burgers, thick patties juicy and their house made buns were decent. no jalapeño cheddar buns, but not bad. the sweet potato fries with their jalapeño ranch were outstanding. i could make a meal out of those. their other burgers lookedgoodas well and we are looking forward to trying them. we didn't get one of their shakes but watched the bartenders whip up several and they all looked fantastic. all in all the staff was friendly, food was good, and service was quick and attentive.

update march 2017:

ok let's start over again, a fresh relationship with grub...

my first impressions were not great, just a ton of little things that i didn't particularly like, the most egregious being a less than stellar burger. over time however, i am thrilled to say that the management / ownership has listened, unlike most restaurateurs, to criticisms, suggestions and ideas from their customers. now you are greeted at the door and handed a menu, questions answered and suggestions made for a great visit, perfect! the menu has evolved and great monthly specials have been added as well as a cool app and rewards program; a+.

the burgers remain in the fair togoodcategory considering this, in name anyway, is a burger joint. i would argue that grub's stronghold is not the burgers but the sides, shakes and non-beef sandwiches. once i ventured out and kind of gave up on the burgers i found amazing sweet potato fries, the best brussels sprouts i've ever had, fabulous shakes and a great queso that beats most mexican restaurants, especially around here. the burgers have seen some improvement too. the voo doo mushroom burger has a unique taste from mushrooms sautéed in absinthe, there's something you don't see every day. the burger specials have been better than the menu burgers in my experience. those offered on flatbread fare better since i'm not a fan of the buns. yes i know they bake their own, subway bakes their own bread, neither is any good. the meat quality is there, they need to work on seasoning and preparation as well as not overcooking that meat. in contrast the salmon burger is spot on with perfectly chosen toppings.

i now look forward to visiting grub. there are a few things still to be addressed like that walk up counter, maybe a better beverage selection, but the staff has been much better on recent visits and the changes have been very noticeable; keep up thegoodwork grub!
