unfortunate. we had a rather negative experience withgrille29 today, that i wish had been avoided, as we have had great meals there in the past. we made a reservation for a large party over a week ago to celebrate a graduation and share a meal with friends and family who have come from out of town. we confirmed plans with all our parties and thought we were all set until this afternoon, two days before the event, whengrille29 called to say that we would have to be split up into 3 booths in order to accommodate our party. while it is understandable that this is going to be a busy day, the possibility of this was never mentioned when the reservation was made. no apologies or other options were offered, and they did not even bother to admit that they had messed up, but blamed it on the weather. i was interrupted and talked over multiple times by the very rude manager, and to end the conversation, she said "well, do you want to keep the reservation?" needless to say, it was cancelled and we will not be going back. there are too many good restaurants in town that offer excellent service, why put up with condescension and rudeness? luckily, i was able to book elsewhere, and won't take a chance again on a celebration being spoiled.

new york style restaurant. i can't say enough great things aboutgrille29.
let's start with the service. they are always very pleasant, know the menu, and do pretty much anything they can to make your meal a wonderful experience.
the food is to die for! fantastic! and if you have a food allergy, they can tweak things to make it so you can have it. and you have to get a chocolate peanut butter truffle! but be prepared to share, cuz it is rich (and amazingly yummy.)
the atmosphere is wonderful. very swanky! very sophisticated, but yet still comfortable.
it is pricey, but less so than some other restaurants around. and definitely worth the price. i would definitely recommend this place to anyone.

we ate here for a work retirement luncheon with a rather large group of about 30 people or so.grille29 had two staff members dedicated to our group, and they handled it like absolute pros. drinks stayed full. food was prompt, warm, and delicious. i had never been here before ( had only heard of the name of the restaurant), but i will definitely go back again based on this experience. fantastic.

not what it used to be. we used to really enjoygrille29. they knew how to pittsburgh a steak which is unusual in huntsville and the food was top notch. however the last two times we have been the food has gone downhill significantly. suddenly my steak comes with gravy on it? that something done to hide a poor cut of meat. and to not list the "glace" in the menu description is criminal. it would have let me know not to order the steak. i got the filet and my husband the rib eye. both were supposed to be pittsburghed. his most definitely was not. it was medium to medium rare. and rubbery, with a tendon right down the center of the steak. he could barely chew it it had so much bounce. his green beans tasted like someone had poured candle wax on them and his rice pilaf was only decent. definitely not worth the price. my filet was almost properly cooked and tasty enough but no more so than the local steak house. definitely a drop in quality. i paid an extra $2 for asparagus that had barely seen heat; it was practically raw. the garlic mashed potatoes were good but it's hgard to mess those up. desert was tangerine sorbet served in a lacy almond flavored cup and it was the best part of the meal hands down.
we will not be going back togrille29 after this. two bad meals in a row there are enough considering what they charge. i suggest you try the bottle instead. much better food.

unhappy valentine's day. yes, we had our first meal atgrille29 on maybe the busiest restaurant night of the year, so they deserve a pass for that. but the bigger problem was that they apparently hired a lot of inexperienced people for the wait staff. that's not the fault of the new people, that's a management problem. i asked the young man what bourbons they had and he said "j&b". i told him that was scotch, and he said, "yes, of course". i ordered a woodford and he told me that was a good choice. really bad faking it there. my wife ordered a white chocolate martini. i ordered the cheese plate appetizer. for dinner my wife ordered the seared ahi and the carpaccio salad. i asked the waiter's opinion on the filet mignon vs. a new york steak. he said that he liked a lot of marbling, so he recommended the new york. i didn't want to tell him that the new york is one of the leanest cuts. but i was leaning that way anyway, so i ordered the ny. someone brought a basket of bread. the drinks didn't come, and neither was any water offered. we waited a bit, then started to nibble on the bread without anything to wash it down. after about 15 minutes the drinks came. the martini was a minor work of art, really nice. after another 15 minutes, the appetizer plate came together with the salads. this all took up most of the table. it also made it very awkward to enjoy the appetizers in advance of the meal. we finished the appetizer, which was a generous serving of nice cheeses, and started on the salads when the entrees showed up. with a table full of unfinished food, we looked at the waitress helplessly, so she asked "do you want me to put this back in the heater for you". her style was a little more lawler's than fine dining. i said no, i don't want you to put it back in the heater, but we're not ready for that. she was confused by this, so i just said yes. we finished the salads and after a while the table was cleared. for the record, the salads were very good. the entrees returned a short while later. the waitress told me to be careful because my steak plate was very hot. i guess heat lamps aren't just for taco bell. they had apparently put the seared ahi in the refrigerator, because that plate was ice cold, rice, vegetables and all. what a shame, because the meals were probably very good at the time they were prepared. the place was busy, so we didn't complain, we just ate and left. very romantic evening, thanksgrille29.

my last meal in huntsville/decatur trip was probably one of the best ones. the placegrille29, located in the village of providence, under the command of chef chris macdonald, and winners of taste of huntsville for 3 years 2007 to 2009, so i had to give it a try, even it'™s one of 8 restaurants operated by a big company in florida. european style decor, dark dimmed light dinning, relax, and soothing

my husband and i drove up from orange beach on new year's eve so that i could celebrate my birthday at my favorite restaurant. yes. it was crowded and noisy; after all, it was new year's eve. the food was excellent and it was certainly worth the drive. i'd do it again. i noticed some other reviews that were not so nice. if you have problems with the food or the wait staff, i suggest you talk to the manager.

fabulous food. the food and dining atmosphere atgrille29 is superb. it has become my very favorite place to eat and drink. this restaurant has restored my faith in fish. it is fresh and always cooked to perfection. a friend had sushi and she said it was excellent! the steaks are equally superb. salads are magnificent. the wait staff is excellent and attentive. don't pass this dining experience by.

grilled @grille29. party of 2. monday. very few customers @ 6:30pm (12 excluding us).pricey for what you will get.
decor: chic & modern. no table cloth. silverware placed on wiped down wooden table. wait for food 45 min? we ordered a variety of appetizers, a scallop dinner special, soups, salads, etc. waiter brought bottle wine $$ w/last 2 ounces in it (dregs): then opened new bottle & poured another 2 ounces in glass? soups ok. but most dishes were dripping in fat: stuffed portobello and even the grilled vegetarian platter (was drenched in a balsamic dressing/grilled in much oil). scallop dinner: 3 cups of mashed potatoes w/a lobster taste and 3 medium scallops also with a large side of fat. with only 14 customers in the place, we have no idea why orders came out so slowly. the staff needs training on wine service.

disappointed. looking forward to our first night out as husband and wife... appetizer was wonderful, the server very sweet, but they had a mess-up with the order and we got the wrong steak, and scallops cooked wrong. options were to eat it anyway, or wait for them to re-make his- while my food got cold or eat alone. we decided to leave, pay for my meal and appetizer... the worst part was a manager new came to apologize or offer to re-make both our meals so we could enjoy them together. for the price the food should have been right or at least make it right. thanksgrille29 for making my honeymoon dinner a bust. i sent them an email and they never bothered to respond. poor management...

in our circle of food-loving friends,grille29 gets a lot of praise, and it’s for good reason: it’s an excellent place to enjoy a great meal. they offer food that anyone can enjoy, the environment is upscale without turning away bluejeans wearers, and the service is great.

i read these reviews and agree with most. i find the food here always top notch and the service is great. most should try a revisit to give their experience a fair shot. if they choose not too, even better, as that's one less testy fellow diner complaining about some nonconsequential issue. great jobgrille29!

skippable. received a gift certificate forgrille29 at my company christmas party. my mother was in town so i took her there over the weekend. the atmosphere was noisy but not bad. we ordered the ahi tuna appetizer, which turned out to be the best dish of the evening. i ordered a medium filet mignon and the "29" salad. my mother ordered the scallops. the salad was nothing exceptional. it took over an hour to get our entrees and the server was nowhere to be found to even refille our drinks. when my steak arrived it was well done, but the server was again nowhere to be found. when i finally brought it to her attention she said they were backed up in the kitchen and offered me a dessert, but would not get me a new steak. my side of green beans was cold and uncooked. we were ready to leave but i ate what i could of the burned up steak and ordered a fudge cake for dessert. the cake was not bad, but when the check came they charged me for it anyway. this is completely unacceptable. we will not be returning togrille29 and my company will not give outgrille29 gift certificates any more.
