d.c. destination!. being in d.c. for a few hours last saturday, i decided to research a good pub for dinner. i am overjoyed i found this place!

we arrived at 4:58 (they open at 5) and there were already 8 or 9 people lined up to get in. good sign! when we got in, got a table and the super helpful server steered in the right direction for drinks based on our individual tastes. beers were a little pricey but worth it.

my dining companion and i knew we wanted mussels, but had a tough time selecting one of the preparations. an employee (we think) overheard and very matter-of-factly said "moroccan and blue cheese are the best," and then just walked away. we were sold. they were both amazing, with tons of perfectly cooked, meaty mussels. the superb broths and the loaf of bread did not go to waste either. we also gotfritesand the bison brisket sandwich, which were both amazing. highly recommended!!!

good food, not for kids! we looked up this place on urbanspoon and traveled clear across the city to eat there. as soon as we arrived, we realized that this was a bar, not a "restaurant." the beers were excellent, but very expensive. i ordered thefriteswith truffle aioli and they were good, but not mindblowing. my husand ordered the bison burger, which was well seasoned. i ordered the blue cheese mussels. they came to the table smelling awful, but they were delicious. the kids hae fried chicken and they were unimpressed. it was a nice experience, but they need to remove the "kid-friendly" label.

good food; mixed service. i visited on june 9 (2009), had great mussels (moules fromage bleu), thefriteswere alright (the sauces are what make them) and enjoyed the wide beer selection. the service was mixed: the bartender was very friendly and helpful but the hostess was cold and rude (even though the place was not packed and there was no need to be so brusque). luckily the rest of the experience made up for that poor start.

excellent mussels and beer!. this restaurant was an absolute treat in an unexpected place. i went with two of my friends to fete a friend who was moving away for a new job. we had heard about it on dcfoodies and also on urban spoon, and since we are fans of beer and european style dishes, we had to try it!
we were not disappointed; we ordered moules (the blue cheese ones and the beer style) and a big heaping bowl offriteswith truffle aioli and garlic ranch. i asked our waiter about a beer reference and he pointed me to a blonde ale; it was all excellent. the mussels were perfect and the fries were better than any i had ever had. this is totally worth the trek over to union station!! highly recommended!
