just a low key neighborhood joint that puts out killer mussels and crispy, delicious frites. additionally, if you're in the mood for a broad selection ofbeerto accompany your meal, you're in good hands.

ate here on the recommendation of a woman who saw me eating mussels at a different place. she said mussels here were better. she was right. some of the best mussels i have ever had. preceded by the shrimp & grits which were also equally good.beerselection has depth. they have draft and large bottle. location is cool and the crowd not pretentious. music selection was particularly good -- soul/funk/hip -- added to the ambience. try it out!

even though i’ve never lived in d.c., i’ve been hearing about granville moore’s for years. my friend and my brother both moved here around the same time and would never stop talking about this small cavernous restaurant that had amazing mussels and fries. not only that, but a killer belgianbeerlist. we kicked things off with the doctor’s wings ($10), dry rubbed and grilled, then topped with the house hot sauce and served with a lime aioli. i’m always a fan of restaurants doing grilled instead of fried wings. these were large, meaty ribs and the sauce was mild but flavorful.

well that was uninspiring. i was expecting a whole lot more. the food was decent, thebeerwas uninspiring, and the atmosphere was over done. i was actually holding out reviewing a lot of the other belgian restaurants in the area because this was what i'd heard was the restaurant to judge all the others off of. eh. beck, belga and cock and bowl are way better and much more inspired.

i absolutely adored my time in belgium and i'm always looking to inspire my american friends to get aboard my wagon of belgian food and beer. i honestly can't say that i'd bring them here to experience that. i kinda got the feel it was an american restaurant with a belgian theme, lacking in the joie de vivre that i always experienced over there.

so, honestly i can't say that i hated it, or that it wasnt decent but it was definitely uninspiring. i can tell you that if you want to try the beers they offer just go to total wine and they'll have almost all of them for a much cheaper price.

moules are awesome, especially the thai coconut! make sure you ask for extra bread to soak up the tasty broth.beeris pricey but it is stuff you can't just get at your local super market. so suck it up and have a good time!

ever since granville’s was featured on the popular “throwdown with bobby flay” on the food network, it has been packed to the gills on our usual saturday date night, taking it out of contention as a realistic choice with the babysitter’s meter running. this night, surely this night of all nights, we could easily get a table, since the good dr. is more interested catering to connoisseurs of moules and fine belgianbeerthan he is in catering to sports bar types looking for big screens over the bar.

great mussels, but!. our party of four each ordered the mussels special during happy hour, and were not disappointed, that is until we saw the happy hour draftbeerspecials. the cheapest being $6, and the others $13!!!!! for a 12 oz. draft beer!!!!!!
i am a big fan of beer, and it was good, but nobeeris worth that much. to add insult, no domestic beers were available. so our party of 4 each had 2 12 oz. beers, and it cost $48. would have been $104 if we got the other "special" beer. totally ridiculous, even for dc.

best moules frites in d.c.!!. i have had moules frites at several locations around d.c. & nothing compares to granville's!! and the dipping sauces are amazing, (try the truffle aoli, it's addicting!!) one of the best belgianbeerselections in town.

best of the very best. by far the best restaurant in dc. the bestbeerselection, fine food, funky atmosphere, sweet soundtrack, terrific staff. if i were going to design a perfect place to spent an evening chatting with friends, it would look exactly like this. do come early or you'll have to wait. if you come later, you might have to drink an extra belgianbeeror three. what could be wrong with that?

good food; mixed service. i visited on june 9 (2009), had great mussels (moules fromage bleu), the frites were alright (the sauces are what make them) and enjoyed the widebeerselection. the service was mixed: the bartender was very friendly and helpful but the hostess was cold and rude (even though the place was not packed and there was no need to be so brusque). luckily the rest of the experience made up for that poor start.

really tasty & fun experience. i have mostly good things to say about this place. thebeerselection is excellent and not too badly priced, the mussels are second to none, and the decor/theme is really clever and well-done. granville's gives you an experience, not just a meal.
on the down side the service was so-so. not terribly knowledgeable servers who would rather chat with co-workers than well, serve. it didn't ruin the experience, but good service is always a plus.

excellent mussels and beer!. this restaurant was an absolute treat in an unexpected place. i went with two of my friends to fete a friend who was moving away for a new job. we had heard about it on dcfoodies and also on urban spoon, and since we are fans ofbeerand european style dishes, we had to try it!
we were not disappointed; we ordered moules (the blue cheese ones and thebeerstyle) and a big heaping bowl of frites with truffle aioli and garlic ranch. i asked our waiter about abeerreference and he pointed me to a blonde ale; it was all excellent. the mussels were perfect and the fries were better than any i had ever had. this is totally worth the trek over to union station!! highly recommended!
