rude staff. i was there in july. the place was almost empty, yet we were seated at a booth by the kitchen. we asked for another seating and found thetableneeded a wipe down. when i ask to have it cleaned the hostess did so and proceeded to wipe the left over area of salt into my lap. i was furious and asked for management. after a lame apology we decided it was best to find another restaurant. went to the buffet in harrahs which was awesome! in every way!

pensacola tourist. we went there at 5 on a saturday and there were a bunch of people who must have just gotten off work. they were very loud and trying to shout over each other. we had to scream our order to the waitress. the fish and chips was terrible, the fish was overdone, hard on the outside and dry in the middle. the fries were cold and floppy. i told the waitress about this and she just shrugged her shoulders and went on to thetablethat just had 6 guys sit down at it. my wife's food was much better and she shared with me. it's a good thing that my wife used to be a waitress. she doesn't like me to stiff the waitresses, but this place came close. she said the food wasn't the waitresses fault, but she could have taken it back or paid more attention. we were visiting for the weekend but we won't be returning to gordon's when we do return.

the worst ever. preface: i joined urbanspoon for the first time because i was so appalled by my experience at gordon biersch!!

i was invited to this "fine" dining establishment last weekend for a friend's birthday. we had a party of 8 people. the first thirty minutes went fine--until the restaurant suddenly became very smoky (to the point that myself and my tablemates were coughing, itching our eyes, etc.)!! since no one offered any explanation, we waved our server down to ask what was up? she went to the back, came back with, "the vent fan appears to be broken tonight, no big deal!" and nothing else was said. no visit from the manager, no apologies or discounts, and the manager only emerged from his hiding hole in the kitchen when the silent fire alarm had been ringing for twenty minutes and the fire department came in! (we could tell the alarm was going off even with no sound because the bright lights on the alarms were flashing for quite some time.)

add these in as well: my girlfriend and i both ordered $12 salads and my serving size was twice as big as hers (huh??), the lobster bisque soup was chalky and disgusting, and a clearly drunk man stood up at thetablenext to us and abruptly fell down, almost knocking over histableand laying on the floor for a minute before being helped up by our waitress. what should gordon biersch have done? escorted the drunk out-of-towner straight out the front door. what did they do? the waitress said, after we inquired as to why he wasn't escorted out, that he'd "had a hip surgery last week and his pain pills were making him loopy". i could smell the liquor on his breath from ten feet away.

i will never return again. you couldn't pay me to. i wish i could get our sixty dollars and two-and-a-half hours back!!! zero stars!

disappointing food quality. 10-13-12 sat.6pm just came from gordon biersch in new orleans across from harrah's casino. took atableon the veranda with two friends for dinner service and food was "do not recommend to a friend."

we took atableoutside, nice atmosphere, there were big screens on which to watch the college football games, a good thing on a saturday evening. hostess brought us to atableand said the she would be back to wipe it. she did but forgot to bring us any tableware or napkins. waiter took the drink order which they got right and kept filled.

two of us ordered the seafood gumbo. when it came, it was very chilly. not good for a hot soup dish. had to go back and it came back lukewarm. we then had to ask for the missing tableware.

1st person's entree came out by itself. a chopped salad which was not good. old lettuce and not to many mix-in's which were described on the menu. later a seafood cobb salad came out for me. only problem was it was a regular cobb salad. so it never hit thetableand had to go back . the third person's order, a surf and turf burger (lobster on top of a cheese burger) came back with the revised seafood cobb. the recipient of the burger wasn't impressed and it was also cold with the warm fries. the cobb salad was pretty,but the crab was kind of old and the shrimp too. as a lifelong louisiana resident, it was passable at best.

the waiter was told the a 4th order would be a "take-out" order, a sweet & spicy cashew chicken stir fry*. he asked when we wanted it, he was told to put it in to go now. we finished the meal and sat around waiting on the take-out which was brought out in a dish for atableserving and had to go back for packaging. when the 4th person tried the stir fry less than 15 minutes later they took a few bites and said it was ok but not good. new orleans is a place where excellent food can be had easily. any restaurant less than good doesn't stay in business.

1) the manager needs to make more rounds. we noticed that it wasn't jsut us with the mixed up and bad orders. one order came to the door with a plate clearly on top of someone else's steak, not just on an overlapping plate. another waiter had to snatch it off to help serve it.

2) the hot food needs to be hot which it wasn't. the wait staff was friendly but the kitchen seems to send orders out in parts hence the coldness of the hot food.

3) the waiters were friendly but excited to be there and deliver a great experience. we normally tip above and beyond but this time it was not worth it.

i would tell someone to skip this one. there are a few other restaurants, ruth's chris, mulate's, 7, mannings, besh just a few steps away to try before this one.

dine at your own risk. i've been here twice and refuse to go back. the first time, we sat at ourtablefor ten minutes before any of the servers acknowledged our presence. then, the server forgot our drinks on two occasions and one of our appetizers was delivered after all of the entrees! i know everyone has bad night so i decided to give them another shot. our second time there, i was really pulling for them. we sat and were promptly approached by a server who didn't introduce himself, nor smile once during the meal. it seemed as if we were doing him a favor by sitting at his table; we got a round of drinks and tried to blow it off. then, it took at least forty five minutes for our entrees to come out cold and bland. the famed garlic fries served with our meal had a good amount of garlic - the problem was that they hadn't been tossed around in the sauce, but it was like they gobbed the garlic on top after they were already cooked and sitting in the window - the clumps of garlic were unbearable. after experiencing two back to back horrendous performances by both the wait staff and the kitchen, i will not be back. with so many great restaurants around this town, why settle for this place?

horrible food & service. so we waited 40 minutes before our food was brought to ourtableonly to be told one of our orders was unavailable and they needed to select something else, while everyone else's food was ready to eat. we didn't eat and they served it to us cold 20 minutes later. the manager spoke with us and offered us a discount (free appetizer) and we got our check and it had not been discounted. we then asked and he apologized and there was a 10 minute wait. this 2 hour meal was horrible, plus the root beer was way too bitter- go to bjs brewery for the best! please don't try this place- it's not that great.

terrible..never again. it took 20 minutes to bring the waters, and when he did bring them, he left them in the back of the room and we had to get up and get them ourselves! then the food took 45 minutes..during which the waiter never came by once! we had to get up and find him to ask for refills and more menus for late-comers. then the food was cold. we had atableof 13, but no where on the bill did it say gratuity was included (on the menu it said 8 or more=automatic gratuity), but rather than wait another 15 minutes to ask, we just paid and left.
