goofy cafe & dine

takeaway: it was good but the service was only ok.

started our getaway with brunch at this place. i heard it was good last time we were here but we didn’t get to go. the locomocowas good and was a large portion. the goofy’s lemonade was very nice and refreshing but not too sweet. i really liked it.

the service was a bit lacking, however. our server was nice but she never returned after taking our orders and bringing us our drinks. we had to flag down someone else for the cheque, which did not prove easy and took a couple tries before someone came over.

we were staying at the hgvc just a couple minutes away. got there right when they opened at 7am and they sat all 8 of us at a table. fyi, it's on the second floor. i tried the the locomocowhich was really good and a local favorite for breakfast but being from minnesota it reminded me of salisbury steak in an onion gravy. probably a better lunch or dinner option since they serve breakfast all day. others got the french toast with mixed fruit which was really yummy and another got french toast with pineapple and honey which was awesome as well. neither were overly sweet. i would recommend!

best kalua pork eggs benedict and locomocowe've had! the kalua pork eggs benedict comes with a kale salad and slightly crispy pieces of taro which were the perfect accompaniment to the melt in your mouth kalua and their house made hollandaise. you also have the option of wheat or taro buns with your eggs benny, i chose the taro buns which were slightly sweet and crispy and went so well with the rest of the dish. the only let down was that my egg yolks were not as runny as i would've liked but overall the flavours and textures of the entire dish eaten together was just absolutely delicious!

my partner had the locomocoand boy were they generous with the gravy and rice. the patty and gravy were seasoned really well and it tasted very indulgent. if we had more time in oahu i would come back here time and time again!!

we stumbled across goofy looking for our first meal in hawaii - it definitely didn't disappoint. it's super cute and probably easy to miss but it's definitely worth looking out for. there is a fairly small menu but so far what i have tried has been pretty tasty with a fairly decent portion size (locomocoin particular). the service here is ok, nothing amazing but they get the job done well! we went twice in two days and won't be surprised if we go again before we leave...so it's fair to say i'm quite a fan. if you're in the area give it a try!

we were lured in today by the abundance of fans viewable from the road and with no expectations, we were blown away. fresh local (and organic when can) ingredients are used which is a plus.

we ordered the fresh green juice ($6.50) and the fresh papaya juice ($6.50), the big island beef locomoco($13.50) and a kahuku garlic shrimp plate ($13). portions were huge and tasted yum! the juices had loads of chia seeds which was awesome!

i'll definitely come back :-)

we thought the food was fantastic!!! i had the green spagetti with shrimp but as i don't eat seafood the waitress was quick to suggest replacing it with chicken. my husband had the locomocoand although he had nothing to compare it to, he thought it was amazing!! the portions were huge and you could tell the food was fresh. i wish we had discovered this little gem at the beginning of our trip instead of our last day so we could eat there again. my only complaint is the service wasn't the greatest as the waitress didn't offer more drinks or anything else and just handed us the bill. overall though we were very impressed!
