good gravy diner

everything was overcooked! they boast 47 types of gravy, but they only have 2. then they just add stuff to it. i mean who mixes pickled jalapeños w gravy? very bland. nothing had flavor. my mouth still hurts from how tough my chicken fry chicken was. hashbrowns were burnt.just felt awful when i left. surely wont be returning. i always try to look for the good and just couldnt find any. waitress was nice.

very nice breakfast place. this was our first visit to the ggd, wanted to try their different gravies. seating was open and the place was slightly under full for a sunday breakfast. the servers are very friendly, helpful and they do sing as previously reported! (maybe they should capitalize on that?!?! hehe.) decor was comfy and cozy. we ordered the traditional breakfasts; eggs, biscuits and gravy, bacon, hash browns. i ordered poached eggs loose and runny and they came a bit too well done for my liking and hash browns were not crunchy through and through although they they were very good. we ordered the sausage gravy and spicy veggie gravy for our gargantuan biscuits which was fantastic! prices were reasonable and the service was fast.

already a big fan of the ggd and will return.

down-home cooking!. okay, i could go on and on about the fluffy homemade buttermilk biscuits, the crispy hashbrowns, or the (i hate to make comparisons and i hate to even utter these words because i put los comales on such a high pedestal, but seriously, it was that good) delicious chorizo and eggs platter my boyfriend and i fought over (we actually refused to go to the bathroom for fear the other one would finish the plate and one of us would get stiffed on delicious chorizo). all i really need to say though is they have six kinds of homemade gravies. six people. i had the bacon gravy, and it was heavenly. it is honestly the only reason i think i could get the boyfriend to share his chorizo and eggs with me.

the prices are incredibly reasonable, and i am looking forward to trying out some of the lunch items. burgers, fries, chicken fry, hamburger steak, etc.

fair warning, don't roll in thinking you are going to some typical nichols hills eatery. you won't find it here. the hours are 7-2 monday thru saturday, closed sunday. the decor is simple and tidy. the waitstaff was friendly and attentive. very small town diner feel to the place. fine by me, my favorite place back home closed when i was in high school. i've been looking for a replacement since... might have just found it, too!

not so bad. have been there a couple of times because i like diner food, especially chicken fried steak, sausage gravy, mashed potatoes & green beans. since i wasn't expecting a gourmet meal, in the first place, it was really pretty good! i might mention (and i hope they take note) that, on my second visit, the steak was a little over-cooked...not burnt, but on the way. our server was pleasant and the wait time was short. i'll do lunch there again, occasionally. if you're a real food snob, though, don't bother.

spotted the good gravy diner as we were driving down western. the parking lot was full so we thought we would give it a try. boy, were we pleasantly surprised! quick service even with a restaurant nearly at capacity. with over 40 gravy flavors to choose from, we decided on the old faithful sausage gravy on our breakfast of 2 large, fluffy biscuits, 2 eggs, 2 pieces of bacon, slice of ham, patty of sausage and a large portion of hash browns ( all for under $10.00). my wife and i could easily split the plate and still had take home. the coffee was hot and the cup always top off. the decor is of an older style dinner but clean and orderly. we will plan on trying some of the other gravy choices in the very near future!

i ordered today through postmates. none of the food was as ordered. we ordered the eggs over medium, received scrambled. we ordered dry toast, received buttered toast. we ordered cheese on the eggs, no cheese. we ordered salsa, no salsa. the hasbrowns and toast were flacid. the eggs had no seasoning and were rubbery. the only good part of our order were the biscuits. even the gravy was incorrect. they gave us ham instead of sausage.

good, standard breakfast fare. of course the thing that sets this place apart from the other restaurants of its type are the many gravy flavors. some are "exotic", but most make a lot of sense and aren't too far out there. the biscuits are huge but taste like biscuits anywhere. portions for all dishes are ample. food is good, no complaints, just pretty average for that type of place.

got the 2 egg and sausage breakfast. eggs, sausage, and hash browns all cooked well. had jalapeno and sausage gravy, as well as chorizo gravy. to me the chorizo was kind of plain. the jalapeno and sausage gravy was awesome, and hot too..

it was just 'ok'.  i probably should have ordered breakfast, ordered a fried chicken sandwich and it wasn't salted enough.  the fries were good, my gravy though, was bland.

my favorite breakfast. the scrambled eggs are flavorful, the chicken fried steak delicious -- although occasionally slightly over-breaded which is unavoidable anyplace really -- the best pancakes in okc, hash browns are crisp without overcooking, huge and delicious biscuits that i dream about at night, terrific breakfast burritos, dang i guess i just flat out love this place. oh yeah, the namesake gravy is good. real good. dang good.

ownership has changed hands several times, horrible. ownership changed several times since 2011 -- sunday, today, placed my order at 11:17 and it was delivered to the table at 12:03. we just about left but they brought it out at the last minute. i was very nice and polite as i expressed my unhappiness but all i got were excuses and smiles. they kept telling me "next time" this and "next time" that but there will be no next time as this has become the norm the last couple times. i told our old waitress she was very sweet, but the kitchen's gonna do 'em in. really, waiting that long for breakfast food is simply unacceptable.

splendid experience. so i've been here a few times now for breakfast and each time i've been completely satisfied. being a gravy fanatic, i am exited that this place offers like seven or eight different types of it! and this gravy you can put on their super fluffy homemade biscuits. i mean these things are awesome. the chorizo sausage which has a little bit of heat, and yet the plain gravy is just as good. this gravy would be great on chicken fried steak.

eggs and sausage are as good as you can expect. the hashbrowns have been made crispy to order and it's just perfect all together. and you really can't beat the price. they run specials daily, of which they post on facebook.

the two guys that own the place have helped me each time i've been there. my water never got half empty, neither did my coffee or did it ever get cold. each time i've been there at least one of them has sparked up a friendly conversation.

this is a top notch breakfast place just on the northern outskirts of nichols hills. you'd be real pressed to find a better, more reasonably priced breakfast around town than this.

good food, but avoid rush hours at all costs. my family was seated before a couple. they ordered, ate, and left before our food arrived.

45 minute wait and no food just excuses..... like the food but not excuses and waiting... excuse was they were busy, but serving tables that been there after us ....
