great but only gluten-free tolerant. great gourmet versions of pubby food. (and serves late for after clubs or theater, yeah!) promotes itself at various sites as "gluten-free tolerant" but, in reality, they try, but fall far short. no gluten free menu provided (or even foot-noted); they only let you know, one request at a time if, maybe, after consulting with the kitchen, that dish can be modified or stripped down. i had duck tacos in corn tortilla. great but was aching for some slaw or lettuce on the plate to balance spice with cool crunch. burgers are sensational -- and cooked perfectly pink to order with a side of excellent regular andsweetpotato fries on the side. (don't think they are cooked in dedicated fryer that's never used for floured items -- if ordering true gf, server should alert to that!) but "gluten-free burger" is just served alone on a plate (lettuce and tomato extra -- so they don't even replace the bun with a bed of greens, let alone having a supply of gluten free buns to substitute). my husband loved his burger, anyway (and i saved some of our app salad to have with it).

"salad dressings are gluten free" -- well, that's a great start as their salads are creative, delicious, and large. good to share for starter.

our server was great, and went out of her way to try to find out all the options we might have. that required too much time and effort on her part than should have been necessary -- but it resulted in a pretty darn good meal, even though options were very limited. there is no way to order gf discretely.

their gf "beer" selection is terrible -- "ciders" are not even close.). hey, good dog, get some omission, grist, or st. peter's which are the best gf beers we've tried... at other bars.

thank goodness we're not celiac, or it would have been a very nervous thing to dine there as they find their way into this brave new world. (gf is the new low-carb, it's a serious allergy for some and a healthier dining choice for an ever-growing number.) you either lead on adapting menus to fast growing dining preferences, or you will be trailing far behind.... great that they are making early effort. far to go, still.

i've dined here three times -- for lunch, dinner, and late night. great every time. lovely staff from door, to bar, to servers and bussers. and the menu really is far more than excellent burgers and great salads.

great bar, great food. stopped in last night to grab a bite with friends, and the burger and fries were awesome. the burger - stuffed with roquefort cheese and topped with caramelized onions - was juicy and perfect, and the mixed yukon gold andsweetpotato fries were crisp and delicious. will definitely be going back!

a filling and flavorful burger. stopped in for lunch and ordered the good dog burger, a thick burger with roquefort cheese stuffed inside. even cooked medium it was quite juicy from the combination of meat and cheese. i sometimes enjoy a bleu burger when i go out so to me the flavor of this good dog burger was familiar and truly good. it came with a large pile of mostlysweetpotato fries. they were a bit soggy but still very good. a french fry dipping sauce is also provided. although busy, the service was excellent.

sit? stay? absolutely.. good dog bar has quickly become one of my favorite places in philly.

the initial draw for me was the truffled cheese steak empanadas (as seen on food network's "diners, drive-ins and dives"), but the hip, casual environment has kept me coming back. staff is incredibly friendly and accommodating, and the bartenders know their stuff (and happily make great recommendations).

that's not to say the food isn't excellent, because it is. the chicken cordon bleu chicken fingers (brilliant idea) are great for sharing and come with one of the best honey mustard dipping sauces i've ever had. i highly recommend the buffalo style shrimp po boy and the chicken sandwich (grilled chicken breast with bacon bourbon chutney, melted brie and spinach). most dishes come with a heavy helping of regular and fantasticsweetpotato fries, mixed together for variety.

there are bars on the first two floors, and the third floor is equipped with tvs, a pool table and ample seating for a fun, low-key hangout. the bar's slogan is "come, sit, stay," but like a good dog, you'll also play, eat and then roll over and take a nap with a belly full of awesome food.

love!!!. what can i say about this place ..... only that it is crazy awesome! i went there for lunch and got the cordon blue chicken tenders and they were delicious. the drinks were good too. the young man tending bar was funny and he had a picture of his mom tattooed on his arm which i think issweet(he really looks like her too). i hear that good dog was featured on diner, drive-ins and dives and i can totally understand why. who needs an iron chef when you can go here? my only disappointment was that in all the pictures of dogs all over the walls, there were no weimaraners ..... maybe i will correct that and send them some pictures of my dogs. it would be an honor to have my dogs pictures on their walls.

best fries in the city. or at least i would argue best fries. good dog's mix ofsweetpotato and regular fries, perfectly seasoned and served with a delicious sauce, make a scrumptious snack anytime. their beer menu isn't bad either, with about 10-15 good drafts and numerous bottles. the narrow first floor with the row of booths alongside the bar can get a little cramped. but the upstairs has more tables and room to roam around.

our waiter was pretty snotty this past weekend when i was there, getting mad at us for not ordering our first round of drinks from him at the table. but i was at the bar ordering before anyone even sat down! the rest of the night he had an attitude even though we ordered multiple rounds and some food from him. hopefully this was an isolated incident... i've never had a problem with rude waitstaff here before.

good dog is a great place to chill with friends, grab some food, and have some beers.

sitting, staying, being a very good dog. there is a very good chance i would kill for a burger from good dog. i am not a huge fan of the good dog burger but that is because i love the inside of my burger dripping with blood not roquefort. if you are a big rare/medium rare burger eater, this is the place to indulge. i am sure you've heard it before, but theirsweetpotato fries (mixed with regular fries) are some of the best in the city. delicious.
