love this place mostly because the staff is the best.,always remembers their customers and contributes to having a great time!  food is also really good here! drinks aren't inexpensive, but aren't too pricey either.

do not eat here. service is absolutely terrible and management could care less. save your money and eat elsewhere in philly! had several complaints and not only did management make me wait outside to talk to them in february, but also had no care in the world. terrible establishment.

2/27/2016 - visited good dog bar because it was close to the hotel and rated high. i'll start by saying the theme of the bar is very cool - check out the website and enter the dog contest. the bar is quaint and personal. everyone seemed to be having a great afternoon.

the food is average - it's a bar. i had the special (chicken tacos) which was good, not great. i'd like to see more flavor in the food. they have an opportunity to knock it out of the park. i'd like to go back - it's cool.

hmm. good service, and cute place, but the food is mediocre at best. the "truffled cheesesteak empanadas" were basically deep fried pastry shells with a small ball of cheesy meaty mush inside. small portion sizes, and the sauce alongside it wasn't tasty either. the meatloaf was under seasoned, undercooked, and the accompaniments were forgettable. you got it wrong this time zomato. 27 bucks plus tip for a pretty lousy meal.

great service and the food lived up the the ddd reputation.  homemade fries were a hit and the shrimp po boy had just enough booyah to keep you going.  atmosphere exactly what you would expect at a 100 year old tavern.

good dog is a simple, straightforward bar. good drinks, food and a fun atmosphere. the bartenders were really friendly and quick despite the crowd!

a great little bar with delicious food, and great beer choices. the macaroni and cheese is my favorite in the entire city - the corn flakes crunch on top really hits the spot. it's a great local spot, with multiple floors, and a decent amount of bar space. as i'm reading the reviews below i'm realizing i should make it up above the first floor next time!

we did not eat at the good dog, but had some very good drinks and a great night out with friends. fun atmosphere! the bartender was fantastic, and made a great margarita for me. i would go there again in a heartbeat!

nothing but love for good dog.  awesome selection of craft brews, and the food is killer.  there is a reasonable amount of seating on the first and second floors, with bars on both, and a third level with a pool table and darts.  this place was my jam for post-work drinks during the week.  it gets a bit packed on weekends, and there's typically a pretty interesting crowd.  overall, just good vibes from good dog.

great but only gluten-free tolerant. great gourmet versions of pubby food. (and serves late for after clubs or theater, yeah!) promotes itself at various sites as "gluten-free tolerant" but, in reality, they try, but fall far short. no gluten free menu provided (or even foot-noted); they only let you know, one request at a time if, maybe, after consulting with the kitchen, that dish can be modified or stripped down. i had duck tacos in corn tortilla. great but was aching for some slaw or lettuce on the plate to balance spice with cool crunch. burgers are sensational -- and cooked perfectly pink to order with a side of excellent regular and sweet potato fries on the side. (don't think they are cooked in dedicated fryer that's never used for floured items -- if ordering true gf, server should alert to that!) but "gluten-free burger" is just served alone on a plate (lettuce and tomato extra -- so they don't even replace the bun with a bed of greens, let alone having a supply of gluten free buns to substitute). my husband loved his burger, anyway (and i saved some of our app salad to have with it).

"salad dressings are gluten free" -- well, that's a great start as their salads are creative, delicious, and large. good to share for starter.

our server was great, and went out of her way to try to find out all the options we might have. that required too much time and effort on her part than should have been necessary -- but it resulted in a pretty darn good meal, even though options were very limited. there is no way to order gf discretely.

their gf "beer" selection is terrible -- "ciders" are not even close.). hey, good dog, get some omission, grist, or st. peter's which are the best gf beers we've tried... at other bars.

thank goodness we're not celiac, or it would have been a very nervous thing to dine there as they find their way into this brave new world. (gf is the new low-carb, it's a serious allergy for some and a healthier dining choice for an ever-growing number.) you either lead on adapting menus to fast growing dining preferences, or you will be trailing far behind.... great that they are making early effort. far to go, still.

i've dined here three times -- for lunch, dinner, and late night. great every time. lovely staff from door, to bar, to servers and bussers. and the menu really is far more than excellent burgers and great salads.

this place is very good. good quality food, calm atmosphere upstairs and the service was ok . the truffle cheese steak empanadas were to die for, my husband wanted more as soon as he took his last bite. i would definitely go back. this place is a treasure most people would just walk pass.

great burger joint. we went in to have a quick burger and left knowing we would be back. the veggie was fantastic and the good dog burger was our of this world. fries were good, so we took extra home. recommended.
