good day cafe

mediocre food. horrible service. start with waiting over half an hour to be seated (& we had called ahead), watching multiple groups arrive after us & be seated. move to trying to squeeze us into a too small table while there are several seating options b/c they can't keep things straight - 4 adults & a child cannot be seated at a 4 top with 3 chairs & a highchair. and squeezing a 4th chair in is not an acceptable solution. we got moved to the available booth right next to the table immediately but the hostess wasn't happy about it - and we never asked for a high chair! then on to the mediocre service - the server was slow, drops off water and says i'll be back. is a greeting too much? then when she finally does cone back & take our orders - she doesn't get it all. luckily we weren't charged for the things she didn't bring. then my sandwich & hashbrownss are barely warm - forget hot. all in all truly a bad experience. i don't think we will go back. there are much better breakfasts in the cities with much better service.

more suburban crap. menu looked great. looked like lots of good breakfast eats from the omelets to the pancakes. the place was jumping and the wait was 20 minutes. the expectations by what was presented was high. ordered the basic omelete, pancakes, orange juice and bignettes and partner orders pancakes, hashbrowns, and orange juice. bignette arrived first as was to be immediately made and piping hot; what crap: arrived flat, cold, and loaded with granulated sugared. touted as n.o. style and was no where near a classic bignette. next toast and syrups arrived: cold and uneatable. then omelete and pancakes arrived: pancakes where cold and butter sat ontop of them for 30 minutes like so many infield bases; had three bites and moved on. the omelete was fine but was cold by the time i was halfway through the cylinder while the cheese sprinkled on top sat there like so many cold toe nails. honestly, for all the hype and attitude how can a restaurant mess up breakfast. as a business person this is the last place i will take a client. i left my phone number and my opinion on the bill and my partner and i left disappointed. oh, and the orange juice, never showed up. i, we, will not be back unless we hear they can bring a hot plate.

lots of hype but... only ok breakfast. ambiance is good and people are very friendly. however, breakfast was only ok, nothing to make it really stand out. i'd rather have breakfast @ hell's kitchen or @ the original pancake house.

perfect couples breakfast. just plain good. not cheap but high quality and fair portions. potatoes are a specialty, the breakfast sandwich is really good as are the caramel rolls. i would also recommend the french toast and the bacon. very busy place...a table wait is common.

great food. i love this place. i think about the fried egg sandwich often, and i live 1400 miles away. its really, really loud in this place. i went with a group of 5, we were even in a corner and we could barely hear each other talking.

great breakfast, poor acoustics. this is a power breakfast spot for sure. bright and sunny. the omelet with brie was great. i prefer hashbrowns which are not available but the “american” fries were good. the place is very noisy. even with a group of four, you have to speak up to be heard.
