folks, this ain't no greasy spoon.... if you're gonna gripe about the price of the chicken apple sausage, then go to fat nat'seggsfor your gut bomb, greasy-spoon breakfast--but you won't find the better-than-mom's hollandaise that gdc offers! the coffee is perfect and always hot! oh, yes, that juice you're whining about is indeed freshly squeezed! and where, may i ask, outside of naw'lins, can you find warm, puffy beignets?! you'll have to agree that they're finger lickin' good! it's just such a pleasure to sit down to a menu and have so many unique options to choose from that i know i'll be back numerous times just to try everything! it may be a bit pricier for some breakfast goers, but this is the upper echelon of the non-fancy (no buffet) breakfast...super high quality ingredients, unique menu offerings, dynamite service--it's not the good day cafe, it's the great day cafe!!!
p.s. i beat the crowd by going on monday or tuesday morning around 7am...sit in kathy's section!

overrated and expensive. the prices are ridiculous ($13-$14 for aneggsbenedict) and the food is totally overrated.

they don't even have a website where they display their menu because most people probably wouldn't go to this restaurant if they saw the prices.

i'm sick of reading reviews about restaurants by pay-per-reviwers where clearly you can see plenty of those are writing for yelp.com for this place.

good day cafe comes through. there's not a lot i can add in terms of reviewing the food. it is very good. the coffee is yummy. the dining room bright and welcoming.

where they came through for us today was in service. as you might expect, late on a saturday morning, the place was jamming. a 45 minute wait is what the hostess told us. being first timers here we hoped it would be worth the wait. we were seated after about 30 minutes. you could tell the servers were really hopping. our server, stephanie, got us coffee quickly and then went off to get her other tables caught up. she came back shortly, refilled our coffe and took our orders. i had the bacon cheddar souffle omelet while my wife picked the apple souffle pancake. our food arrived after a reasonable amount of time (the pancakes take a little longer. if you have one you'll know why). they were delivered by a runner. our server came by a minute later, took one look at our food and said it looked over done. now i don't mind myeggsa bit passed done but the pancake souffle was definitely a bit charred. stephanie took my wife's pancake and said she was going to fix things. she came back an instant later with the owner / manager (?) who asked me if i wanted a new omelet. i'd rather eat something the way the chef intended it to served. sure i'll take a new one. while stephanie hurried away to take care of business the manager explained how things can go bad on a busy line. i've been in the business for years, no explanation required. what was exceptional was how they caught the problem and fixed it post haste. i'm sure the person manning the pass got an earful. the boss told us how stephanie came from another popular eatery and brought many customers with her due to her attentiveness as a server. (stephanie, over hearing the praise commented that he was just trying to get her to work a double shift :-))

bottom line, go to good day cafe for good food, bright atomosphere and interesting menu. stand in line for 30 minutes to be waited on by stephanie.

atmosphere-check, food-ehhh, price-insane!. i live near 394 and have passed gdc so many times, always saying to myself "i should check this place out". my boyfriend and i went today.

it was bright and clean and spacing of the tables were good. we were seated and served immediately.

looking at the menu was a slight shock. they could at least provide a couple of options for a traditional breakfast "meal". i.e., toast, bacon, eggs, and potatoes for a set price. or even just eggs, meat, and a bread item. but, you pretty much have to order a-la-carte. (disclaimer: i don't eateggsand only briefly perused that portion). we paid $7.50 each for a belgian waffle and french toast. we paid $2.50 for 2 slices of bacon and $4.50 for two sausage patties (yes! two). a glass of orange juice was $5.50 and maybe if oranges were in season the fact that it was fresh squeezed may have mattered.

in the end, we paid $37 for breakfast. yowzers. it was good but not that good...key's cafe is a much better option.

eta: the coffee was horrendous.
