golden nugget pancake house

loved it!. found it through urbanspoon, arrived at 10 am and there was awaitto be seated. the line was fast, service was fast and very friendly. i had the best potato pancakes i've ever had.

just ridiculous !!. arrived ready to enjoy breakfast ,was refused a seat after ten minutes because i was by myself, said they were full and they didn't seat a single person in a booth because it was for families or couples , but i could see three or four booths available i said well i was in a hurry had to go to work ,there was no long line of coustomers waiting . i'm sorry but i'm not married and eat alone it's just me ,why should i have towaitfor a single booth if others are available ..... i've been there twice ,my first and last time .hopefully all of my friends read this on facebook and i have hundreds yvette stiles

great non-chain breakfast spot with southern charm. i usually try to find mom n pop spots for breakfast when we travel. i was worried when i pulled up because this place is huge! when i walked inside there's a line to corral you as you have towaitto be seated. that goes to show how amazing this place is. the breakfast was great. staff was very friendly and extremely helpful and quick to seat you, bring you a drink, and take your order. we didn'twaitvery long for anything and this place was packed!
my favorite that we ordered were the cinnamon pancakes and the home fries which are sliced fresh. i wish i had a bigger appetite because i would have tried a lot more. my only wish is that they offered single servings of pancakes. i was desperate to try just one buckwheat pancake but couldn't get my daughters to share a short stack with me.
my daughters loved the hostess and waitresses accents. we are far enough south to get the southern drawl and they thought it was hilarious!

greasy spoon. like another reviewer, i don't know who is writing these reviews because i have never spoken to anyone who actually liked the golden nugget. the service is slow. the food is mediocre at best. but the whole place and all of the food reeks of grease. in my experience, thewaitstaff has been rude. i shall never return.

good food, but you have towaitin line like you are at an amusement park and the service is terrible

not a stand out. unless you arrive super early, you can expect towaitin line - a long time. the employees that pull hostess duty can be a little odd. not friendly, they recognize the locals, but they aren't especially friendly. same with the crew that pours coffee while you review the menu. at least one of them can be downright surly. all the waitresses we've had have been good, so no complaints there.
my husband is a huge bacon lover. any place that specializes in breakfast really should have very good bacon. thick, big slices of bacon. the golden nugget does not. the bacon here is thin and not especially flavorful, not even worth ordering.
the potato pancakes are the best i've ever had anywhere, europe included. most other things we've tried on the menu are ok, but no other outstanding dishes.
they also have a lunch menu but nothing sounds very interesting.
it's usually busy so it's obviously popular with the locals. we've stopped making the trip. there are better options closer to home.

there is something on the enormous menu for everyone. i have always had a great meal.
sometimes you have towaitin line to get in,but it will be worth the wait.

good old fashoned goodness. pancakes in any manifestation are the greatest in town. many a visiting celebrity agrees. breakfast is the best reason towaitin line to get in. do not fear even a huge line moves fast in this place. try the canadian bacon its very generous (not just a skimpy little slice of ham). lunch is great too. the reuben sandwich is perfect and a classic. the potato soup is hearty and satisfying.
