gino's italian ristorante

gino's delivers great italian food, with an extensive menu and great service. i just don't go here often lately though, because they moved from their awesome boise downtown location a few years ago to boring urban-sprawl meridian. if you are in boise and want italian, hit asiago's or luciano's for awesome italian at a better price. if however, you're in meridian and want good italian food that is a bit spendy for the area, hit gino's. the lobster ravioli is well worth the higher price. reserve a table if it's a weekend night though; gino's is popular and you likely will have a long wait if you just show up on a friday or saturday night.
one more thing: do not pissginooff. when at his downtown boise location with my family one night, we witnessed an epic awkward restaurant experience:ginohimself kicked the people at the table next to us out of his restaurant. i don't exactly know what they did, but wow, we watched him humiliate those people and kick them out before their food showed up. he may have had a good reason for doing so, but it was one of the most awkward restaurant experiences i've ever had.

worth the drive out west. most people will remember how great gino's was when it was in downtown boise. the move to meridian has just made it even better. the food is great and the staff wonderful withginohimself making regular rounds through the dinning room. we went recently for my wife's birthday and enjoyed ourself immensely.

as always, we had a great meal at gino's.  we had a great little corner table and one of the best waitresses we have had in a long time.  we always have good service at gino's but jennifer was so personable and she just stood out.  this is such an awesome restaurant.  i love the wayginois almost always there and greets his customers at some point during their meal.

expecting to have to wait d/t the disclaimer on the menu, it was quick. our waiter was charismatic.ginowas checking on the patrons himself. not to mention the food was phenomenal!

too close to my house!. i absolutely love this place! if i had one complaint it is that it is too close to my house and thus a temptation that i can never seem to get talked out of from my family! the food is fantastic, the staff is great and of courseginois awesome! two favorites are the filet and the ribeye - which is really saying something as i am very picky when it comes to my steak! i don't think i have ever had anything there that i would not order again.

another great experience!. my husband and i stopped in for a light meal after a date-night movie. we arrived late, only 15 minutes before closing, butginohimself graciously welcomed us and assured us that it was not too late to stop by. the hostess escorted us to a quiet corner table in the back of the restaurant, just right for our night out. we had intended to share an appetizer, but when our server described the chicken gnocchi soup, we couldn't resist. our soup arrived promptly as we finished our starters, a delicious caprese salad for me and calamari for my husband. it was by far, the best chicken gnocchi soup i have ever had, and believe me, i'm a soup lover! in a creamy broth with carrot bits and fresh rosemary, this wonder soup was the perfect comfort food to end our evening out. thanksgino! you never disappoint. we are so lucky that you moved to meridian only a few blocks from our home!

like it, but the alfredo is tasteless.

had a great dinner-- good food, wine and service. lunch meat balls so-so, the tasted old-- refrigerator taste and they were solid rather than light. we still like the place. i wonder ifginoreads the reviews.

great place, but rare-raw lamb chops? they should ask how people like them done. we will be back

wow. every aspect of the experience was very enjoyable. from how the light played through the upper west window to the celebratory dessert. we both took pleasure in the antipasto appetizer, herbed bread with the dipping oil, and the house salads. i ordered the smoked boar shank. it was delicious and memorable. my wife also enjoyed her prosciutto, mushroom, and mozzarella calzone. our waiter was wonderful. he was attentive without being intrusive. he made sure we were well taken care of.ginostopped by to make sure everything was to our satisfaction. he took the time to talk to my wife about her experiences, when she lived in italy for a time. we need to go back soon.

fabulous food, fabulous service. we recently went to gino's on a pretty busy night without a reservation. after a short wait, we got a table in a very quiet corner and spent a very long, wonderful evening. we never got pressured to hurry up, even after everyone else had left the restaurant. our waiter was fantastic. very friendly, but also picked up on enough cues to know when we wanted to be left alone. the food was to die for. we both had the specials and i savored every bite of my flat iron steak with gnocchi in a mushroom peppercorn sauce. my only complaint is that the bottle of wine we ordered was out of stock so they recommended another, without telling us that it was $8 more expensive. it was nice though to haveginohimself pour our wine.

its not gino's downtown.ginois a great guy and i use to love his place downtown, but as with many restaurants that expand, they lose something in quality and service. its not a huge change, but it is not the same! the same can be said of a few that have succeeded and moved on. i knowginois not involved as much as he was all those years ago. i don't blame him, its a tough job! i am sure he will do well as its a pleasant place to go and the food is decent still, but its not on top of my best places...sorrygino:(

just great! it's nice to have such a good restraurant in meridian.ginocame around to make sure the food was good, we had plenty to drink and we most of all enjoying our evening.

amazing!. myself and my family had dinner at gino's last night and it was amazing. we sat on the patio where they had a live jazz band playing. the menu is huge and then you add on specials that night it was pretty hard for us to make a choice. after that, their wine list large as well, but our server guided us through the wide variety of selections and steered us in a great direction. for twenty something dollars a bottle the choice was dead on. our service was outstanding in general. i can't remember our waiters name but he was stocky with glasses. my wife had the veal saltimbocca and his discription of the dish was exactly like it tasted. i had a pork chop that was served on a mushroom rissotto that was a match made in heaven. the kids split a pizza was very good as well. once we were just about finishedginohimself came out and checked on the table. all in all it is truly refreshing to find such a great dining establisment in meridian. we will be back and i encourage anyone who likes great food to go as well.

excellent!. we enjoyed a great meal there a couple of weeks ago. the food is wonderful and so is the service.ginostopped by to check on us, which was a nice touch. my husband loves the boar shank and the fish special was delicious too.

absolutely astounding selection of food. and the quality of it tastes very fresh. but really the only thing better than the food is that atmosphere. the new places that gino's relocated to is very calm and relaxing. another point that must be made is that the waiters/waitresses are very nice and make sure you're well accomated. and the owner of the business,ginohimself comes around personally to make you're enjoying your time. if you not friends with him when you first arrive, i promise you will be by the end of you meal. trust me, just try it out once and you'll love if.
