personally i am quite adamant that this is the bestplacefor gelato in sydney. simple flavours that are done perfectly. pistachio here is absolutely the best i've had in the world. so nutty with a slight saltiness, just the way it should be done. other favourites here include sesame, taro and vanilla. their ricotta is quite unique and nice as well.

sorbets are also a strong point here. the signature gondola sorbet has such a complex flavour profile for an ice cream (let alone sorbet), slight acidity and bitterness from the citrus to balance out the sweetness. berry and lychee sorbets are both award winners and both fantastic also.

unsure of comments saying $5 a scoop is expensive?? i'd honestly like to know where i can get a scoop of decent gelato in sydney for less.

magnifico. davide and luca come from venice and have been making traditional gelato for decades and it shows. they start from natural ingredients, blend them in a traditional machine requiring a good deal of skill to operate and produce fresh, unique and flavoursome gelato from rich, creamy jersey milk or fresh fruits and vegetables. they also serve beautiful italian hot chocolate and marvelous crepes. thisplaceis a real gift to chatswood. worth the trip from anywhere. try the yoghurt and raspberry.

gelati joy!. true artisan gelati by 2 italians from italy!

winter, spring, summer, or fall, my husband and i visit gondola on a weekly basis, and so do many of their other regulars. the cause for the weekly sojourn, is the truly authentic gelati made daily on site. the delicate richness comes from the freshest seasonal ingredients and rich jersey milk. the flavours vary from the traditional chocolate and vanilla, to the modern taro or black sesame. my husband is addicted to the yogurt, and the nocciola (hazelnut) is one of my favourites. the flavours change daily, so be prepared to experiment and find another favourite if your first choice is sold out. on the days i need some extra happy, i have my gelati on their wonderful crepes! can't recommend thisplaceenough! happy yummy eating!

the gelato here is very smooth and they’ve got some interesting flavours to offer too. love their pistachio gelato and blood orange sorbet - my all time faves. the staff members are all very friendly except for the owner - his attitude isn’t welcoming and is often impatient. would’ve given thisplacea higher rating but the owner tarnished the experience.

heard about thisplaceages ago but only just managed to try it last weekend. we were blown away by the flavours, especially the pistachio. you can really taste the difference when the product is made with top quality ingredients and with love. the owner was very friendly and passionate about his product and happily answered questions. if you're in the chatswood area, don't miss this. i think we have decided that we will fit gelato in whenever we visit chatswood for a meal :)

not having much of a sweet tooth, i never really understood the fuss with all the gelato places popping up in sydney and for all i cared, the term 'gelato' was just italian for 'ice cream'. nor have i understood the astronomical prices people were willing to pay for a single scoop of ice cream/gelato. i guess it's the same theory of people happily accepting a latte for $4.5 when it costs 30 cents to make, anyway….

however, tonight was a blue moon so i decided to pay thisplacea visit given the impressive score it has maintained on zomato from 120 votes.

for those that don't know the difference between a gelato and ice cream, a gelato is churned at a much slower rate, incorporating less air and leaving the gelato denser than ice cream. gelato is served at a slightly warmer temperature than ice cream, so its texture stays silkier and softer. because it has a lower percentage of fat than ice cream, the main flavour ingredient really shines through.

gelateria gondola have got the craft down to a tee! what is immediate is the smooth silky texture of the gelato unlike other places i have experienced. you could taste the distinct flavours of whats actually written on those tags. well in this case, it didn't help because everything was written in italian but you know what i mean. we were served by (i assume) one of the owners who passionately described one of the flavours like a sommelier would talk about a fine wine and instantly we were sold and almost transported back to tuscany!

we tried several of the new flavours, one of which was a flavour based on a liquor in tuscany (can't remember the name), the other was mint flavoured and also the caffe mascarpone. well worth a visit and well worth the scores here!

amazing amazing gelato! i cannot recommend thisplaceenough! their flavours are amazing and there's quite a wide range of flavour for the small store. it's definitely authentic gelato and i love how they always have new flavours. we tried:
banana nutella - tastes like real banana, nothing artificial
macadamia - a very unique flavour but really enjoyable
zucca - creme brûlée and pumpkin, it sounds strange but it is so good! if you're feeling adventurous, i would highly recommend this one.
coco lime - amazing commit flavour with a slight tang of lime. it's really refreshing and not too sweet.
if you're ever in chatswood, i would definitely recommend stopping by gondola!

never tasted a flavour i didn't like. thisplacehas me for the best gelato in sydney, and their sorbets are outstanding. go for the caffe mascarpone, green tea or the ricotta (their award winning flavour). plus on wednesday night between 9:30-10:30 they do 50% off takeaway packs

thisplaceis without a doubt my most favourite gelato place! the owners luca and davide and along with their staff, are always friendly and patient when i can't decide between all the flavours! i still remember the first time my friend took me here, davide's passion for their gelato came through his stories of where they carefully sourced unique ingredients and sought only the highest quality produce for the creation of each flavour.

the level of sweetness is subtle enough that the characteristics of each classic flavour's ingredient comes through nicely. i find that too often these days other popular or highly rated gelato stores carry too many mish-mashed and overly sweet gelatos that i often have trouble telling what's what without reading the labels.

they offer a delicious range of sorbets, classic gelato flavours (try pistachio!) as well as unique daily flavours that appeal to those of you who like your combination flavours. their crepes and coffee are definitely worth a mention too if you're after something hot to eat or drink.

very very nice gelato. so soft and smooth with real ingredients! you know sometimes you get this fake chemical flavour but gondola's are authentic. i had never thought that a simple chocolate gelato can taste such good. they have sponge cake pieces in the tiramisu with a nice balance of rum. i like their apple strudel and banana nutella as well. the italian owners are friendly. i always recommend thisplaceto my friends and it's certainly a must-try!
