garufa argentinean restaurant

surprise, surprise!. i wanted to try this place as i had heard a lot of hype about it. i had the bad idea of picking friday night to go and try it, good thing i called ahead to make a reservation, i couldn't get the time i wanted, but still thought it would be a good idea. when we got there the place was packed, the girl up front was very nice about my impatience and soon enough our table was ready. im glad to say that from there on everything was marvelous. i took a look at the menu and thought it was a little pricey, not as much as other high end places though, and the food was simply delicious, the service was almost perfect. i had the "bife" which had the most amazing taste and would think its one of the best in el paso, my wife had a salad, the proscuitto salad, i think and it looked and tasted amazing. i ordered some wine and was surprised it wasn't as expensive as i thought it would be. overall i was extremely surprised at the whole experience, it was completely worth the time and money for that meal, oh the dessert was awesome too.

poor service, poor food quality, overcharged.. my husband planned a nice lunch for us at a restaurant we've never been to before. garufa gives off a high quality restaurant feel, but it stops there.

the service was not the worst we've ever had, but it was not up to where a "fancy" restaurant should be. our server did not check on us at a timely manner. he did provide us with plenty of bread and water, but that was about it. he over charged us $5.00 on my husband's dish, and he charged me for an extra topping on my burger.

the food was of low quality. the bread was not fresh and neither were the sauces that came with it. the sauces were coagulated, which gives us the impression that it is not fresh. the empanadas were over seasoned with cumin. my burger was obviously of poor quality meat. it was very fatty and greasy. the bread that my burger was on was not fresh (again). my husband ordered the shrimp pasta (which was supposed to be $10, but again the server charged us $15), and it had a weird taste to it. it was almost sour, like the cream sauce had been stored for a long time or was not refrigerated properly so it had gone sour. we ended throwing our leftovers away after the server did not pack my leftover fries!

if you are looking for a place to drink wine and have a nice conversation with your date, then this might be the place for you. make sure you don't order any food because you'll be very disappointed.

disappointed. i had been to garufa before, but last night was very disappointing. they have lowered the quality of the food really bad. the empanadas were not fried to perfection; they were soggy on one side, not well made, they did not taste fresh, and were not let stand after being fried so they were standing on oil when they were served---not very appetizing. the steaks were under seasoned, overcooked, and were not the best cuts. ordered some fries to accompany the steak and had to return them twice because they were too greasy; i ended up ordering something else instead. this restaurant used to be good, but now, it is too pricey for the quality of food they serve.

not great. went around 4pm n ordered "lentejas" n tasted lik they were prepared the day before n just reheated; so decided not to order anythn else. good service though.

the best in el paso. i was searching online and found garufa, finally i decided to stop by and see what this place was all about. i didnt have a reservation so i decided to sit at the bar. i decided to get empanadas, the jamon con queso was really good, then i ordered the medio churrasco and i was just amazed on the flavor, i loved the onions that come on the side. i really liked garufa. i also want to thank my server/bar man, he treated me like i was the only one there and its not easy to do when the bar and restaurant is full. thank you.

excellent food, service, and atmosphere!. last night was my second time at la garufa and once again i had a great experience. on both occasions i ordered lomo pibe and a variety of appetizers. the beef was delectable and the service was excellent. the atmosphere and decor are also appealing. i have nothing but good things to say about la garufa!

perfect romantic dinner. this was a first rate experience. the staff was attentive, the atmosphere was elegant, and the food was delicious. our waiter was more knowledgable about the menu and preparation of the meals than i have ever experienced. additionally, his suggestions were right on the money. an added bonus was live music that made for a nice background without being overbearing or making it difficult to talk. it is a perfect destination for couples or a small gathering. i wouldn't recommend it for children, not because the staff isn't accomodating, but they'd probably be bored silly. i'd also recommend reservations. we went early, but it was filling up quickly. it was pricey, but well worth the experience..

this restaurant is known for their quality steaks. don't go to this place expecting the best burger or shrimp pasta--get the steaks!! they are simply fabulous. any chance my husband gets we go here. expect to pay $$$, but it's worth it, especially for a special occasion. this is typical for an upscale restaurant that you don't get sides with your meal but have to order them. the empanadas are wonderful, especially the manchego cheese!! it has a very modern ambiance which is rare in el paso. some el pasoians may not be exposed to places like this but this is typical for an upscale restaurant. don't go here for anything but the steaks!!! my opinion--much better than cattleman!!

great food, great place. i've read all the reviews about this place not being from argentina. so i did a little digging before eating there. turns out the owner is from mexico, but the guy who set up the franchise is from argentina, and he's the one that set up the menu, so im guessing it has to have some argentina style in there so i went in for lunch on a wednesday.
the place wasn't really busy, and the ambiance felt laid back. the lunch menu was not bad. i tried the sliders. the beef was waaaay better than i could have imagined. the bread and presentation where excellent. the service was very good. my friend had a capresse salad which was very well served and looked amazing.
i can say that even though i did spend almost 12 dollars on my lunch it was worth it. you wont get this quality from a fast food place and the quality of the beef was better than toro burguer which i also love.
nice going guys, i don't know if the beef sliders are argentinean, but man they're good!

here are the positives; the service is quite good. the waiters have the knack of knowing when they're needed and are attentive without annoying the guest. the empanadas are exceptional, well made and generous. the prices are reasonable and the menu is varied and well put together. where they seem to have issues, oddly enough, is meat temperature. on one visit the meat on both entrees was very under and blue on a medium rare and a well. otherwise, when we did get the meal at the correct temperature the meat was excellent. that being said, you shouldn't have to request a refire on the house specialty.

brought my family here for new years eve 2016. the night started off with the hostess losing our reservation after putting down a $100 deposit. our food arrived cold and steaks were not cooked to our specifications. i ordered mine rare and was brought to me medium well. there were no carbs, or vegetables on the plate instead there was merely a roasted jalapeno. the overall execution and presentation of the dish was sloppy for $85 a person. for being such a "prestigious" high dollar resturant i would expect the executive chef to be well versed in argentinian fine steaks and cuisine. i do not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

bad experience!!  made rsvp for anniversary, checked in and waited while hostess led more than 8 parties to be seated before she even acknowledged us, even though i reminded her that we had been there before party # 4 arrived. she politely dismissed herself then came back to escort the other spanish speaking parties to their tables. so that aside the truth is in the meat. you see when getting quality aged beef you'r digestive tract won't be able to handle it or even be used to the protein so you'll know it was good going in and coming out! that's the mark of well aged and properly handled meet. this meat isn't unlike any other $$$ steakhouse other than the ambience and the prices. the meat was served med rare and rare on the two dishes i've had and they were tasty, delicious um no quite. grass fed, organic not at all. seasoned mildly. pricey yes expect nothing less than $50 per steak. it's sad when you remember the price more than the taste!.  bad service over pirced and the meat at fogo de chao is much better

i've been to this place a couple times before, but right after they opened. i went there tonight for dinner and the experience was bad.
the steak was a cheap meat with about half fat, and the spaghetti was horrible. we requested no cheese on spaghetti and they brought spaghetti with butter sauce. yuck. tastes nothing but butter.
the excuse from the waiter was "we are not italian restaurant".

overall, the food is over-priced and the food doesn't taste good at all anymore.

perfect. perefecto! simply jaw dropping. from service, to food, to elegance, to drinks everything! i took my family to eat and let's just say we've been back to many times to count and not once have i had i problem. a must if you are passing by el paso, definitely the restraunt to go to

best of argentinian cuisine. we went for our anniversary.it was beyond my expectations.
every flavor reminded me not only argentina but the best of argentinian food at a very reasonable price.
from the bread and chimichurry,the meat sooo tender and juicy. the elegant ambientation,soft live music,and even the complimentary dessert as a aniversary gift!! thank you so much !we loved it.
