super delicious indian food.
dal makhani andshahipaneer with laccha parantha is the best combination.
best dhaba in town.
they prepare food in pure desi ghee which makes it more flavoursome

this place is amongst the oldest dhabas i know in ludhiana, this is the favourite spot for having lunch near the junction area, i have been to this place many a times and everytime i visited this place, i have been satisfied with the food they serve. had malai kofta, shahipaneer and dal makhni along with roti. out of all dal makhni was the best and it was like a dal with plenty of butter in it. the quantity of paneer was less but taste was ok.
malai kofta was also good and we even got it without onion on demand.
the rotis were ok.
overall a nice experience.

if you love to travel in the by lanes and eat a hearty meal then this is just the place to be – situated diagonally opp. to ludhiana railway station there is this big line of dhabas and this place has some parking space as well because of a closed movie hall called “raikhy”, the journey to this place in itself is intoxicating for a food lover – the aroma and just the site of food being cooked all around is a moment to rejoice and make merry.
this dal served here is a combination  of tadka and makhani – but the sight of this being cooked in huge handis is a foodie’s delight nonetheless. the ambience is cramped upstairs but its ok – be assured cleanliness takes a back seat here.

seeing the dal served i was reminded of an old saying by a great chef called anthony bourdian – who commented on the art of cooking indian food that “if you don’t know indian cooking just add in half a kg of desi ghee and it would become tasty and worth eating” one small little bowl of dal had quarter of ghee and believe me it was yum topped with a parantha (laccha) & some namkeen lassi is was sheer foodie’s delight.

people often commit a mistake to order some dishes which are unnecessary like orderingshahipaneer here or many other dishes - i would suggest stick to basics here and just enjoy the dal with paranthas if you still want to have a vegee then please order baigan ka bharta or mix veg.
many thanks!

another hyped place. went to this place on the insistence of locals there. more than a couple of people suggested me going here to try truly authentic north indian food.
firstly it is a big place but needs some renovation.
now the food. ordered theshahipaneer half, dal lakhani, roti and chilled kheer.
except for the kheer, nothing was extraordinary.
maybe the hype of this place, creates a bigger expectation. but did not excited me.
rather there are many other options serving similar dhaba food close by.

was led to this place on my first stay at ludhiana near the railway station by the zomato app, and the popularity could be well judged by the long line of customers outside for takeaways and awaiting their turn to be seated inside. eventhough the menu is very limited (i suppose the menu shown here is not the right one) each of the items i tried were a treat to eat. the service was quick for both the takeaways and the customers in the line were also promptly being placed.having ordered the dal makhani, shahipaneer, mix veg, lacha paratha and ending it with some kheer, it was quite a pleasure and each of the items were a rich mix of taste overloaded with ghee/butter in typical punjabi style.the service was also quick in both getting a seating space and also in serving the order. for the price and taste it serves, i feel a definite try if in ludhiana.

heard a lot about this place and good reviews on zomato too, so gave a try to eat vegetarian food here.
after renovation this place was looking better than before. limited menu. orderedshahipaneer, daal makhni and malai kofta with laccha parantha.
after tasteing food i was disappointed due to lack of taste. one of the worstshahipaneer and daal makhni i ever had, completely lack of taste. though malai kofta was much better then both but not excellent in taste.
good thing was daal makhni contained lots of desi ghee/butter and same as laccha parantha but it would be heavy on your heart as i can feel heart beats higher than normal lol.

don't know why such kind of places are overrated, when they can't even serve "taste".
just because of these places are old, drops lots of ghee/butter and we have seen them since our childhood (emotionally attached factor), doesn't mean we gonna praise you no matter what !
personally i wouldn't prefer to go again, until i'm gonna die by hunger.

a bit startling place as it won't fit perfectly fit in the definition of a dhaba by the first look but the food served is better than most dhabas. dal makhni andshahipaneer are worth trying along with gulabjamun in the dessert. don't forget to ask the waiter to reduce the spice a little bit if u r not in regular habit of tolerating lots of spice in food. (not a place for u if u r a hygiene freak)
