the place you want to be inludhianafor its outstanding vegetarian desi ghee food . dal tadka and lachcha paranthas are not to be missed along with malai kofta . should try the chilled kheer as dessert .

try to be there before 9.00 as waiting time can be 30 min plus.
a must try is daal and parantha along with thumbsup.
you can ask for disposal crockery if you are fussy about hygiene.
order can be late due to crowd..so try to put consolidated order

it is oldest dhaba inludhiana. i tried bharata and butter roti. it was delicious and loved to visit again. if you are inludhianayou must visit this place .

situated near railway station and all time favorite destination during my visit toludhiana!standard taste and quality of dal makhni with butter naan is all time favorite combination.
don't forget to visit if you are inludhiana:d  a must try !

overhyped outlet of ludhiana. the dal and paneer (famous items) had nothing special but had creamy texture and had no flavour. u will have to request the staff for menu and food..ludhianahas many other vegetarian outlets far better than friends...

it is very close to theludhianarailway station and the food tastes amazing. dal makhani and paneer dishes are so delicious that whenever you visit/hear aboutludhianathe name friends dhaba will be will automatically pop up in your mind.

pure vegetarian desi ghee preparation of friends ka dhaba inludhianais just a wowww for everyone .thou the ambience and location is not that good but one you go there and have food you forget all worries of the world. food can be ordered for home deliveries as well and you can make your party rocking with friends ka dal tadka yummmmmmm😍😍

had come to friends dhaba to eat dinner as all business clients @ludhianarecommended this place..

had ordered roti, palak paneer, malai kofta, black dal, kheer and lassi..

roti comes fully loaded with butter just like palak paneer. quantity of panner in was less and taste of the gravy was also ok-ok.. but kheer and malai kofta were the best.. one should not miss these 2 items.. black dal was also good..

overall a good destination to eat food if u r in ludhiana..

i visitedludhianafor a couple of days in this week. after reaching the hotel, i opened zomato to discover some good dhabas near my location.

friends was one of them and i thought of giving it a try.
the dhaba offers you a large space to sit and the waiters keep moving around you so that they can cater to your needs.

we ordered malai kofta and baigan bharta which was great in taste. we were kicking our fingers while having them.

even the breads like butter naan, laccha parantha, butter chapati was soft and good.

we had kheer to satiate our sweet tooth.

the overall experience was wonderful!

if you love to travel in the by lanes and eat a hearty meal then this is just the place to be – situated diagonally opp. toludhianarailway station there is this big line of dhabas and this place has some parking space as well because of a closed movie hall called “raikhy”, the journey to this place in itself is intoxicating for a food lover – the aroma and just the site of food being cooked all around is a moment to rejoice and make merry.
this dal served here is a combination  of tadka and makhani – but the sight of this being cooked in huge handis is a foodie’s delight nonetheless. the ambience is cramped upstairs but its ok – be assured cleanliness takes a back seat here.

seeing the dal served i was reminded of an old saying by a great chef called anthony bourdian – who commented on the art of cooking indian food that “if you don’t know indian cooking just add in half a kg of desi ghee and it would become tasty and worth eating” one small little bowl of dal had quarter of ghee and believe me it was yum topped with a parantha (laccha) & some namkeen lassi is was sheer foodie’s delight.

people often commit a mistake to order some dishes which are unnecessary like ordering shahi paneer here or many other dishes - i would suggest stick to basics here and just enjoy the dal with paranthas if you still want to have a vegee then please order baigan ka bharta or mix veg.

no other restaurant can beat the taste of this place and it has remained the same all these years. just relished the food after 2 years....daal makhni, cheese tomato, malai kofta, so awesome!!! a must visit place when inludhiana:)

was led to this place on my first stay atludhiananear the railway station by the zomato app, and the popularity could be well judged by the long line of customers outside for takeaways and awaiting their turn to be seated inside. eventhough the menu is very limited (i suppose the menu shown here is not the right one) each of the items i tried were a treat to eat. the service was quick for both the takeaways and the customers in the line were also promptly being placed.having ordered the dal makhani, shahi paneer, mix veg, lacha paratha and ending it with some kheer, it was quite a pleasure and each of the items were a rich mix of taste overloaded with ghee/butter in typical punjabi style.the service was also quick in both getting a seating space and also in serving the order. for the price and taste it serves, i feel a definite try if in ludhiana.

our first meal inludhianaand a totally unforgettable one! piping hot onion and laccha paranthas! malai kofta and shahi paneer- dishes which bring the hearty taste of punjab to the forefront! wish we had appetite for dal makhani which we have heard is in a class of its own. don't miss this place in ludhiana, it provides five star taste at dhaba prices!

being a delhite..but my almost all relatives in punjab..i have been to place numerous times since my childhood..and place is famous for its maa parontha...everytime i end up inludhianathis is my place to go to have lipsmacking food...at times when someone fromludhianacomes to delhi..i most of the time get it packed for myself..:d..i just love it..!!

friends is one of the oldest & good veg dhabas in the city these guys have prospered & even opened up hotels now.all menu items taste good but certainly daal makhani,daal tadka,cheese tomato are best options.parking is a hassle,waiting is a usual phenomenon.only thing which hasnt changed here is the taste & menu options but rates have sky rocketed,quantity has dipped.i wont highly reccomend this place for special visit since veg dhabas like gyaan,bansi are offering a wide variety of options.but one thing is sure tht there is a special class of people who like only friends & they are not wrong.being close to railway station it is frequented by visitors from outsideludhianawho are old clients.no doubt food is hygenic ,service is okay.one can visit while going to old city.
