great beer, average beer price.foodis overpriced and portions are on the small side. wiener schnitzel was bland but okay- i’ve had both better and worse, fries are very good. wurst (sausages) are served a toasted hotdog bun which blows my mind, this is just fundamentally wrong, i can’t believe this is endorsed by the famous chef steven star....might as well have put it on sandwich bread. you go to the bar to get your drinks and a window to order, foodis then delivered like in a fastfoodjoint. atmosphere is okay if your into the abandoned warehouse look and very noisy. won’t be back.

best cheese sauce for pretzels in the city. they even have giant pretzels. and delicious beer - in half liters and liters. while i know there'sfoodon the menu, admittedly it's the beer, pretzels, and cheese that keep bringing me back. the outdoor atmosphere is great (with long german-beer hall style tables), you can roast smores when the fire pits are up and running, and they keep jenga on hand so that you have something to do while you're enjoying your beverage.

if you enjoy beer, good food, outdoor picnic tables, ping pong and a really fun, relaxed atmosphere then you will love frankford hall. it's located in norther liberties- the new up and coming hipster-esque area of philadelphia. we went for their first weekend of oktoberfest celebrations. the entire street was closed off withfoodand beer stands. we went pretty early and found a nice picnic table at frankford hall under the mid-september sun. three hefeweizens in our hands and we were ready to celebrate the harvest season.    we ended up spending the entire day drinking beer which led to an order of practically everything on the menu. i ordered the frankfurter sausage served with a side of red cabbage and mustard. delicious. our table also ordered potato pancakes with sour cream and chives- amazing; cucumber salad- refreshing; and fries- crispy, greasy and perfect.      feeling guilty about all the beer andfoodconsumed we decided to burn it off by playing rounds of ping pong. it w

a place to get ripped off then drunk, not to eat. it's too bad that philly's german restaurants are little more than places to go to get loaded. i had expected more in thefooddepartment from a starr restaurant than from, say brauhaus schmitz, but in fact this place offers even less. the menu is basically a downmarket bar (no gastro-pub here) with sausages, hamburgers and only one real dish (jaegerschnitzel). they are all served on paper with plastic utensils and it's self-serve too. prices have not been moderated to reflect this rough and ready service. sausages were good but the schnitzel seemed to have been made yesterday and reheated in a microwave. it was served with so little sauce that it was comical. and didn't somebody tell them it was supposed to have mushrooms? or would a couple of those have ruined starr's profit margin?

we stopped by frankford hall to celebrate indy hall's 4th birthday. the crowd wasn't the rittenhouse crowd that k and i had witnessed during our last quick visit. it was also a beautiful night, so being outside was beyond awesome. you order yourfoodat the window and get a number. then one of the servers will bring everything out to you. as far as beer goes, there are several bars to choose from with a variety of beers. i asked m how her burger was and she loved it. and they have a large condiment table and she raved about the curry ketchup. i also asked for her pickle, since she didn't eat it, and damn, this pickle was awesome! i'm not sure if they make these there or if they buy them, but they were super fresh and only lightly pickled and i loved it. k's hot bauernwurst was good, but not spicy at all. you get a choice of sauerkraut or cabbage when you order a sausage. he went with the cabbage beca
