flipdaddy's burgers & beers

i met some friends at flipdaddy's on wooster pike in mariemont. their website boasts "proprietary beef blend and 24 beers on tap" and i had heard some positive feedback here and there so i was excited to try it out for myself. i started with the kentucky bourbon barrel ale; delicious, although with such a strong flavor i don't think i would enjoy more than one of these. for dinner i had the spring fling, a burger topped with guacamole,cucumbers and pepper jack cheese. it was a delightful combination of toppings (although i was expecting more of them), there is something so refreshing about the flavor of cucumber on sandwiches. because i had heard good things about the asparagus i substituted my fries. it was good, but no better than the asparagus i make at a home. and for a $2 up charge, i'd say go with the fries. one of my friends got the mac daddy, a burger topped with a fried macaroni and cheese patty. this isn't a menuselectioni would make but he gave it good reviews. i would ima

finally stopped in. no surprises here great beerselectionand i had a very good burger. i'm a sucker for a one with swiss, onions and mushrooms and it was as good as advertised. since i haven't been i also ordered their mac and cheese and i really like how they prepare it. the bartender was great will definitely be back.

waste of time. burgers are crappy, no seasoning and no flavor. beer cheese, boring, pretzels, deep fried and swimming in oil, gross. beerselectionis reasonably good. that is the only thing i enjoyed. the male server we had was pretty bad and not sure what his name was, but he sucked. overall it was highly unenjoyable. id rather just get a fast food burger, those are much better than what i had at this place. o yeah, the onion rings sucked too. the fries were ok. so here is what we have. a burger place that has decent fries and decent beer choice, but bad burgers and service. id rather see a burger place with good burgers and good appetizers with average fries and a limited beer selection. makes more sense to me. my advice, don't waste your time here, its bad.

creative burgers and craft beer. flipdaddy's is a creative burger bar with a niceselectionof craft beers on their 20+ taps, some of which rotate to keep theselectionchanging and fresh. they were just finishing up the dogfish head aprihop and tapped sweaty betty in time to taste with dinner. in addition, they offer a tasting flight of four 5 oz. glasses that are served on a plastic strip that's had the name of each beer written on it so you don't have to remember which is which while you sample. they also keep the weihenstephaner hefeweissbier on tap and serve it in its named glass, which is a standard i like to see from a craft beer bar because not everyone's a hop head and sometimes what i really want is an exceptional classic.

in addition to the burgers on the menu, they also have at least one special. last nite, it was the "hey battah battah", which came with beer cheese, onion straws, applewood bacon, and red peppers on a pretzel bun. it was delicious. the burgers are a mix of ground cuts they make up themselves, and are really pretty good, but it's the various creative trimmings that define this establishment's niche.

there's plenty of seating, with patio dining when the weather permits. we ate at the bar, and there's lots of flat screens that are easy to see.

the service staff has been very friendly and accommodating both times i've been here, and last nite, the bartender was that perfect mix of knowledge about the taps, generous with the tastes, and engaging without including himself as a member of our party. he's a real asset to the operation and if the owner is smart, he'll make sure he stays.

overall, if want a creative, tasty burger and want to be sure you'll have a goodselectionof craft options to drink with it, you should give flipdaddy's a try.

hell of a time!. my husband and i went here to enjoy their wens night trivia and it was an absolute blast! the beerselectionwas very good and the bartender was very informative when it came to the beers, something you dont find often, she also let us try samples and suggested what we would like based on out profiles. very impressed. also the crowd around the bar was alot of fun and let us join their team even though we were newcomers. the hostess and servers checked on us even though we were sitting at the bar which i thought was very impressive. food was top notch and i had the fish tacos which were very well prepared. only complaint is that the parking lot was jam packed. all in all it was a great experience and we are going back tonight for another trivia challange!

excellent burgers, disappointing beer selection. the food is great, and so is the atmosphere.

however, the beerselectionis disappointing for a place that claims to have a decent beer menu. they were sold-out of several popular brews, offered an extremely limitedselectionof local brews, and had way more national brews than regional brews. they didn't even have any great lakes on tap, and i was shocked that their menu didn't even include a single "christmas ale" during the holiday season.

basically, they offer blue moon, stella, sam adams, brooklyn lager, guinness, and all the other generic "craft beers" that one would expect. they are missing a lot of cincinnati and ohio favorites though. it seems like the place sold-out.

symmes. stopped in saturday night after i heard they just opened - very crowded, cool looking place. ordered a chuck norris burger and roasted asparagus and both were excellent. the burger has some heat but not too much, asparagus cooked perfectly. the beerselectionis phenomenal and we sat at the bar and we had a few and a sampler. good service, fun place.

friendly service & ok food. went here with some friends for dinner. made reservations and they were promptly honored. staff was very good in all areas. the male host, and servers very cordial and attentive. thanks! only glitch was that service was a bit slow due to the size of the crowd and # of servers present. we had a variety of food--appetizers, and primarily burgers for the main course. all were good, reasonably priced, but nothing remarkable. wideselectionof beer, however, one of our group's first choice was sold out. the only other downside was that the place was very loud; difficult to talk and be heard. nevertheless, a positive experience and enjoyable evening.

awesome patio. seriously impressed with newly built beer garden at flipdaddy's. sitting under the awning while drinking a few of their beers (really, really great beerselection- on draft!) was the perfect way to spend an evening. super friendly - the owner even popped by our table just to say hello. a great local place!

awesome patio. seriously impressed with the beer garden that flipdaddy's just built. the decor inside and outside of the restaurant is really neat. with the weather changing to actually mild temperatures, drinking a few of their 24 beers on draft while sitting on the patio is something i really look forward to.

wanna like it.... living right up wooster pike from this place we really hoped it would turn into favorite however, our visit was very disappointing. my husband was happy with his mac and cheese burger on a pretzel bun but that was where the good stopped. the french fries were cold and hard. my chicken breast sandwich had a super thick patty but had no flavor or seasoning at all. very bland. we asked about the beerselectionand the server wasn't very knowledgable. being as it is a "beer" and "burger" place they should probably have a better grasp on those things.

got the pisano burger last night, it was so fresh tasting with the basil, tomato, and mozzarella. the beerselectionis heavenly for the craftbeer lover.

nice!. went on a saturday night...very crowded. i would call ahead for seating. with it being so crowded, i expected slow service. to my surprise, service was very timely. a plus. the burgers we ordered were very nice and cooked to the proper temperature. the jack daniel's burger was very nice. i built a blue cheese burger with the bacon dijon mayo. very nice as well. next time i will avoid the pretzel bun as it was a bit chewy. the onion rings were a bit heavy on batter so they retaining a lot of oil, yet they were tasty. beerselectionwas great. i'll return, call ahead and avoid the pretzel bun and rings.

burgers and beer. name pretty much says it. the meat in the burgers is flavorful. the combinations of toppings are well thought out and very good. the draught beerselectionhas something for everyone and you can easily find something to pair with any food item on the menu. service makes you feel like they're glad you're there.

good burgers, mediocre service. burger and draft beerselectionare very good. our server was more intrested in cashing out for the evening than providing good service. bartender is helpful if you need a take home box.
