hungry sunday fix!. we were traveling through and found flatire burger by accident....apparently, there aren't many places in the greater okc arrea to eat at on a sunday, after 6 pm, that serve beer, and that have local flavor and off- the- interstate charm.
thanks to urbanspoon, found it we did, and what a happy surprise. funky, fun ambiance, great service and yowsa....the food!!! we ordered way too much, of course, but the cheddar bacon fries were an outstanding mix of smoky, cheesey crispyness; thefriedpickles interestingly zippy with a great crunch; the beer good n cold (3.2? statewide? who knew?)...and the burgers!!!!...
my dad got the three way...chili, grilled onions and a roasted anaheim chili with pepper jack on a jalapeño bun. hot fun!!! my fella got the #11... a green chili topped beauty with pepper jack and a house made chipotle mayo. i got the flatire blowout....half pound burger (med rare, by request) topped with thick cut bacon, afriedegg, cheddar cheese, homemade burger sauce, the fixings ( i opted for grilled onions over raw, which were sweet and zingy and perfect with the lettuce and tomato) and some of the best sweet potato fries i can recall. my boys each got a bacon cheeseburger, and whole i didn't sample them, the looked ( and were handily consumed) to be just right.
loved the experience at flatire....the bathroom, even, was the right mix of funky and fun. david, our server, was oh so helpful ( amd lemme tell you, it is so nice to be taken care of by a local who actually eats the food, knows the area, and does a good job, happily!) and we will go back to flatire burger our next visit to the okc area!!!
