the frog and the foodie. i have never had a bad meal at fin. my colleagues and i have taken numerous customers and visiting colleagues and had excellent meals in a nice setting. as my guests are typical foodies, some from france and italy, i have not had any reason to apologize and i often get celebrated for my choice restaurants. my personal favorite dishes are the charred romaine salad and the scallops over risotto. deserts vary, but are always great. the only drawback experiences thus far have been related to the bar. they seem not to hold a reasonable inventory level, as they often run out of a drafts, bottle beers, and wines. on several occasions, the wine list has been found to be far from current. i continue to work around these short-comings as i find thefoodto worth the extra effort i have to spend in finding a beer or wine substitute. a french guest and i enjoyed an excellent faux gras appetizer dish there in april.

i have dined at fin several times for both lunch and dinner. every time i have loved what i had. this is one of the best restaurants on the peninsula. i enjoy it more than schlesinger's across the street because the atmosphere is less pretentious and thefoodis just as good if not better. i have always had excellent service, thefoodis always fresh and artfully prepared. i do wish they would bring back the short rib, though! do yourself a favor and visit fin if you are in the area visiting or have a special occasion. perfect date night spot!

fin is an amazing dining experience!!!. i have to say, fin is a diamond in the rough! a lil off the beaten path, it is tucked back in the port warwick area of nn. my girlfriend and i had a great time. we were warmly welcomed and seated promptly. our server was extremely knowledgeable and helped me pick a nice bottle of wine. thefoodwas incredible. the chef sent us an "amuse-bouche" (sample tasting) because it was our first time there. we tried the oysters and foie gras for apps.the pork belly with the oysters was really good and the foie gras tasted like a bacon-buttery flavored heaven!!! our entrees were just as great. my girlfriend had the scallops, which were perfectly cooked, and i had the best beef tenderloin i have ever tasted. we skipped desert and opted for cocktails at the bar instead. the bar was elegant and fun. the bartender was attentive and made special drinks, just for us! we will definitely be back!

unless things have changed dramatically, thefoodwas terrible and expensive.

beautiful little restaurant. we had 15 for my son's graduation. thefoodwas excellent and the pricing was really reasonable. we had good wine and good atmosphere. a real hidden gem.

best kept secret in newport news. frequent diner at this quaint little spot tucked away in port warwick. great lunch specials, and a prix fix menu at dinner that won't bust your budget. great selection offoodand wine, with an attentive staff and comfy ambiance.

a real value. we have become fans of fin. i agree that this isn't a cheap restaurant, but we signed up for their newsletters, and watch carefully for specials. we often order from the prix fix menu. i don't think you can beat the value. thefoodis delicious. it's creatively cooked and imaginatively presented. the chicken francese... an egg washed chicken breast sautéed with a lemon, white wine and crab sauce, served with a choice of soup salad and dessert is a great buy at $19.95. the under $10.00 lunches are generous, tasty and beautiful. this has become one of our favorite places to meet with friends and share a glorious meal.

not consistent waist of time and money. i finally had to wright this resturant off my list. i refuse to waist my time and money on places that one min. thefoodis spot on the next terriable. not only that the last time i went got terriable service. i asked for hot tea they let me choose my tea out of a box hand me the little box and didn't bring me hot water. i had to ask twice until i could finally get hot water. thefoodwas way to salty was not even near as good when they changed the menu.

verdict still out. been there twice, first time for a special occasion.foodwas good but expensive. 2nd dining experience just a few weeks ago. have to say was not impressed by the lobster spaghetti. they were out of the salad i wanted. brie appetizer was good but portion was small. i'll try it again, but hopefully will be better next time
