the ferg chain has expanded out to a bakery which is next to its most famous sibling, the fergburger.

fergbaker serves freshly baked pies, breads and a variety of sweet pastries and treats.
we came here for lunch and couldn’t resist getting one of the pies. i had the lamb pie which was amazing. the pie had tender lamb shank chunks in tasty gravy. the piepastrywas extremely light and didn’t feel heavy at all.

we were also tempted to try the sausage roll, there were no regrets ordering this. the meat filling was a mixture of pork belly and mince and was well seasoned with fennel seeds.

and we enjoyed the bakery so much we cam back a second day for lunch. i really wanted to try one of their specials. chicken pie with mustard, cheese and chardonnay. i don’t normally order chicken pies but this one i had no regrets. it was a beautiful, creamy filled pie which was so comforting to eat. again, thepastrywas crispy, light and flakey.

the queue to fergbaker isn’t nearly as long as the fergburger queue and i think the pastries here at just as good as the burgers. the bakery surely gets the overflow of the burger clientele who are too hungry to wait. with pastries this good, there is no disappointment there.

i don't need another cream donut, pie, or croissant again in my life.
- boston cream donut: bought this 4 days in a row.
- blue cheese, steak, pepper pie: thepastryis buttery, fresh, and soft. the steak is chunky and tender. lots of pepper, lots of blue cheese. the flavours came together very well.
- croissant with butter: you don't need to get the butter, it's just normal butter. however, the croissant, especially toasted, is the consistency of a soft pillow of hot butter, amazing. i recommend halving, toasting, buttering, then sprinkling it with rock salt and coarsely ground pepper.

french stick was fresh and tasty, but the hero was the lamb pie! perfectpastrywith tasty meaty filling, flavours balanced no complaints. nom nom nom

i am sure queenstown's famous burger is @fergburger_queenstown but rightttt next to it they have @fergbaker ! it is a bakery that sells their famous pies and pastries!

i got the 𝘃𝗲𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗼𝗯𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗼 𝗽𝗶𝗲 (5/5) and the layeredpastrywas soooooooo flaky fried and buttery. the amount of gravy and chunks of soft venison just like heaven.

the 𝗯𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗻 𝗱𝗼𝗻𝘂𝘁 (5/5) is a must! i usually do not like donuts but thisssss oneeee was the bomb! the bread itself was bouncy-ish chewy and soft ans the vanilla cream was very light!!!!!

lastly the 𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗮𝗹𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗿𝗼𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗻𝘁 (3/5). it was pretty norm i gotta say. thepastrywas abit soft and not as flaky and the amount of chocolate was abitttt little.

ferg steak pie. huge chunks of meat and a decent amount of pepper. great piespastrynot flaky enough but good in its own right.

place was absolutely packed on a sunday. they have a huge array of bakery delights here. wasnt hungry enough but those baguettes look superb. might try pop in again before i leave

would have to be one of the best pies and sausage rolls anywhere in the world. butterypastryand great flavor. get one while you wait in line for a burger

having already had fergburger 4 times and a ferg pie once (i believe i got steak and mushroom last time), i decided to go and try other pie flavours at fergbaker. my boyfriend recommended the venison, portobello mushroom, red wine and onion pie as that is his favourite and it was really delicious. he got the lamb shank pie and said that’s his second favourite to the venison.

firstly, thepastrywas warm, buttery and crispy, which is everything you’ll want in a pie. they even had a cutepastrycut out of a deer (or a lamb if it’s lamb shank pie etc) to distinguish the difference in flavours. the filling was generous, perfect and delicious. the venison wasn’t dry and a bit sweet from the onion sauce. i absolutely loved the onion sauce as it added a kick of sweetness to the savoury sauce. i did however find it lacked a bit in mushrooms but the ratio was more meat to mushroom if you like that.

i highly recommend fergbaker if you can’t be stuffed lining up for a fergburger or want to try something new. my boyfriend said the boston cream donuts are also amazing but i’ve yet to try it!

got a chili steak and cheese pie yesterday from here. to be honest, a little expensive for a pie and have had better pies. thepastrywas good, i'd say not far from being on point. the pie was a tad dry for my liking and didn't have much cheese. also, calling it chili steak is a bit misleading. it had a touch of chili.

there was quite a bit of empty space which means they're going a little tight on the filling.

i love the burgers the ferg team do, but the pies could be better.

nice and cozy bakery located on the main street of city.

ordered the freg pie and the pork belly & apple pie. quality meat fillings used, both pies were tender and saucy. thepastrywas crusty and warm after 20 mins walking back to the hotel.

after hearing the hype over the freg chain range, i finally got the chance to come and try a couple of pies here.

the venison and portobello pie, and that was delicious! well flavoured and generous servings of meat in the filling.

sampled the oyster and guinness pie, you could smell and taste the oyster in thepastryhowever i was a little disappointed that the oysters were small and very little in the filling. it was a good pie tho, a little pricier than the regular pies so i was expecting more oysters.

both piespastrywas the right kind of flaky for me, didn’t crumble during each bite. given the hype, it is a decent pie, and the line is not as bad at fergburger. you can literally just walk in, chose a lie and be out in 5 minutes.

next time i’m in the area and craving a pie, will be back for me ☺️

very nice staff and quick service! everything looked so good and so i wanted to try it all, but because it was cold, i decided to go with a mince and cheese pie. it was delicious. thepastrywas so puffed and crispy, and the filling had a lot of flavour. this pie definitely fuelled me up for the day. although the prices are a bit high, i would still recommend coming to fergbaker when you're in queenstown

had a mince & cheese pie which was really nice. goodpastryand thick chunks of mince with flavour. also had a quinoa baguette which was beautiful, a garlic and cheese focaccia, and a beef brisket panini which was the only disappointing thing. and even as good as the bakery is it seems it still did nothing to sway the many people lined up to see its closest neighbour fergburger

decided to get a pie because i was a little bit put off by the queue next door for fergburger.
had the venison and portobello mushroom, and it was amazing.pastrywas perfect - soft, crumbly, just right. the meat just melted in my mouth and the mushroom flavour was strong enough. yum yum yum.

large and varied variety of flakeypastrypies. mojito chicken sandwich was great for a picnic and the german seed bread was great for toast. surprised by the variety and quality from a chain bakery.

the pork belly pie was hands down the best pie we've ever had. the filling was both juicy and tasty and thepastrywas crusty and fresh. we plan on going back for more. we also ordered a sausage roll however this was not as memorable as the pie.
