three of us came here for a late lunch... reasonable price and great food...... friendly and efficient staff with a very short wait for our meals........it was a sunday....... very busy! so that must mean something!!!

coffee was amazing after getting it right . customer service was a letdown, was ignored a lot when i was ordering. my sister order a veggie burger, which she said was flavourless and soggy. maybe next time we are in town might give it another go.

pros- reasonable and a lot of food.
fish and chips were pretty good, lamb was average.
bit of a self service vibe- get your own cutely and water etc and order and pay at counter no table service. prob would go back after a big night
out when you want pretty standard carbs to fill the gap. cakes in the counter did look v delicious though.

we lived in rotorua for a few years and fat dog was always the go-to when entertaining friends from out of town. the meals were always generous in size, and food always reliable. a bit better than a home cooked meal, but value for money and service pretty good. we visited family back in rotorua in april, and despite it being a while between visits, it was like returning 'home' again. great meal, good times.

vibe is really great; colorful and quirky dècor
food is very average (i was quite disappointed) portion size is big enough it can be shared
average price menu for a trendy cafe
menu is inundated with different choices tbh its quite hard to pick

i love this place. looks like it has some pretty bad reviews....thankfully when i went it was awesome. food portions are huge which means value for money, as it's not an expensive place at all. i had the seafood chowder and couldn't finish it. my friends had burgers and they looked really good, no complaints there. i had a pretty big pot of tea which was cheap too. great place. will be back in a few weeks when i next visit rotorua!

been coming here since i was 18 and lived in rotorua. one of the cities longest standing cafes and never a disappointment. great value and delicious food but it's the service that really stands out. i recently enjoyed my visit so much i ordered a voucher for a friend and the manager hand delivered it! i'd give this place 6/5 if i could. well done guys make rotorua proud and keep it up!

we ate here a couple of months ago. get the lamb shanks! they were huge and so much food. can be a little noisy inside restaurant. but meals are always of a good size.

when i was in rotorua, i got to stop by a popular local restaurant called fat dog cafe & bar. their chalkboard menu was packed from one end to the other. you definitely needed the long line up that you would be waiting in to decide for what you wanted. the restaurant had a chill and fun vibe to it. it was great for groups to hang out at. they also have a back patio for you to enjoy your meal.

the seafood curry with rice i had wasn't exactly amazing, but it was edible. i think i should've tried something else. i wanted to get the most bang for my buck since seafood tended to be more expensive. though now that i think of it, seafood is a lot cheaper down south compared to toronto...

always super friendly staff. really love the eggs bene, pasta is a hit and miss sometimes. usually super busy but staff and kitchen manage to serve and get food out fast. :)

cool little spot, with the usual cafe type menu. i got the waffles which were pretty yummy, a little dry without the maple syrup and as there wasn’t much went to ask for a little more - $3 for extra eeekkkk bit steep in my opinion. my partner got the crispy chicken and he really enjoyed it, very flavoursome coating on the chicken and a nice portion size. overall would go back!!

bad bad bad. everything was bad. which doesn't happen often, because it doesn't matter how bad the food is, there is usually one or two dishes that are passable. but not at fat dog. i ordered the vegetable soup, which had an unusual fishy taste to it. the cheeseburger tasted like rubber li
terally and the spaghetti bolognese had no taste. worst meal ever. please avoid

it was so disappointed about their customer services and security! we had lunch here, nice food though, we found we forget a full pack of baby wipe (only 2 dollars) on the seat, only just left in less then a minute, but when i got back to check with the staffs, they said didn't see. the next table customers told me saw they took away and have it. i got back to the counter again. no one said saw it. we have kids, and just need the baby wipe in handy! it is just a baby wipe aye! what a shame of you! don't leave anything behind there! you will definitely don't get it back from them!
