food is ok but need a much better cashier to handle the peak time in the morning. im a bit disappointed really! been over charged for my coffee

delicious jumbo scramble eggs! i enjoyed the scramble eggs here because it was not too salty, great texture, not rubbery or overcooked, and it had bits of chopped tomatoes inside. the eggs taste better in nz compared to the states. the color of the scrambled eggs were a deeper yellowish orange. my hubby ordered the pancakes which was very filling. if i could return, i would order the waffle because their waffle iron was huge (12in diameter?).

we decided to do a roadtrip to rotorua for the weekend to see all the cool things everyone had kept telling us to go see! my work colleague reccomended that we go to the fat dog for lunch or dinner one day as when she pops to rotorua she always goes here and she said that it would be right up my street! sooo glad we came here! its such a cool place! you cannot miss this place when you drive down the road, its blue and yellow and stands out from the rest! we had gotten there around early lunch and i had been told from my work friend that we had to order the burger as it was their famous dish that they did! my partner also decided to order the burger aswell and we couldnt believe our eyes when it came out! it was massive! the biggest burger iv had to date! it was really yummy aswell and the chips were also delicious! it defo hit the spot! it was just pretty difficult to eat because of its size but i gave it a good go and managed it all in the end! if your down in rotorua or passing by i reccomend giving it a go! its a clear hit with the locals too.

this place is always so busy, probably due to the consistently good food and coffee. this place is good at breakfasts lunches and dinners, or even if you just want a good coffee and something sweet to end the day. one warning, all the meals are huge!

my partner and i went to fat dog cafe & bar on our mini adventure in rotorua. we found it on zomato and we thought why not. there was a variety of foods to choose from and the atmosphere and decor of the restaurant made me feel at ease and chilled when eating although it was absolutely busy. the tea we ordered tasted good, but i was confused as to why every food order (in the salad and in the burger)  had a large amount of flavoured beetroot. the food otherwise tasted quite good as i had ordered a vege quiche and the cheese taste was very prominent. i love cheese 😊

nice atmosphere, very cosy and good coffee. just stopped for a quick one on the way back to auckland. didn't order any food but menu looked good and would come back if passing through rotorua.

this is my favourite place to eat in rotorua!

great prices, large menu for breakfast, lunch, dinner and dessert. plenty of seating and a very different kind of interior.

the meals are large and delicious! also, great coffee!

this restaurant caught my eye from previous visits to rotorua. unfortunately this time we did not have a chance to dine here for dinner. however, we did for dessert!
we ordered the death by chocolate dish... oh my ... it was amaaazzzing!! this dessert dish was very generous and had multiple dessert items on the plate. there were two unique dessert spring rolls filled with chocolate brownie i think?! - these were sooo good and was my partners favourite item. i would definitely come back for dessert and hopefully dinner next time!

p.s the dessert cabinet looked amazing... the cake and brownie sizes were very very generous- so appealing!

ecellent food and super friendly service. good value for money and nice atmosphere. gf options and competent staff did well in a full house at peak dining time. does well to confirm the old adage that busy places are busy for good reason.

service is good, coffee great. but the food could do with some working on. they had a really big menu but i ended up ordering my favourite, eggs benny with smoked salmon. to be totally honest i could of made better eggs benny at home. everything was tasteless. wound not be visiting this place again next time im in rotorua.

hands down, the best vegetarian eggs benedict i have ever eaten. serving size = amazing, sauce = amazing, eggs cooked perfectly and the bonus of two crunchy hash browns! i loved the hip interior of this cafe. our 'order number' was a donald duck mug! this place is just stunning. the toilets were very clean.
i can't wait to go back!

honestly i can't understand all the hypes about this cafe. well，the decor is quite cool，which brings fun and welcoming vebe. having said that，the quality of food is no.1 standard for me to decide if i want to go to this restaurant again. therefore… fat dog fails to provide a nice lunch i'm afraid. we had house salad（satay chicken salad）and some sort of sausages written on chalkboard. the sausages are extremely gross，not only does it looks，but it tastes weird！it's got some kumara mash underneath. what a bizzare combaination. my salad is just below average. i didn't bother to eat the beetroot on top because it is absolutely tasteless without a drop of sauce，and it's dry by the way.

i finished my chicken and left all the vege as it is so plain. i had to eat some of my chips and snacks afterwards to stop being grumpy about this meal. anyway， it is eadible，but not worth trying again.

arrived at far dog cafe & bar prior to leaving for hamilton, i had been here before. decor remains the same but the menu has changed. do love the mismatched decor and dog mural on the outside wall- got given a tweety cup on a wooden stick in place of a number which i found cool.

had to wait like 5 minutes to place the order as there was a massive line which started from the door, the person on the counter was fine with me swapping the fried egg for the poached egg when i mentioned i wanted the fat dog works.

so the meals came, my fat dog works looked pretty good, but the bacon could've been a bit more crispy-did find it a bit gristly (but it was still edible). the poached egg could've done with a bit more cooking (like 10 more seconds in the water). all in all, my meal was great and the other person devoured their pancakes.

it would be great if they could tell their bigger tables to not talk so loudly.

would be back as it's reasonably priced and is not your typical industrial modern cafe

a mixture of backpackers takeway and proper sit down dinner place.
food just ok, service was fine hygiene poor prices average.
not sure what exactly they try to do with the place. it is not a restaurant it is not a takeway...

was bought here for my hens do. they catered nicely to the noisy crowd but the dessert i ordered was stale and and a fruit fly in it.. i also work in a restaurant and that is not acceptable in my work place.
