wow- clearly a huge diversity of views proving you either love it or hate it! well we hit it on agoodnight with 4 lovely fish courses served up by efficient sweet staff in a very relaxed atmosphere. my seabass on a lemon and thyme risotto was extremely tasty. the fresh mint tea was sensational. will come back when next in glasgow- hope that it can be more consistent than the reviewers suggest!

i shared the meat grazing board, it looked amazing and tasted even better!
every ingredient tasted fresh and delicious, will definitely be returning to try more from the menu.
the house white wine went well with this!
there was an excellent selection of cakes at the front of the bar when you enter...visiting here without trying one must be impossible!
we were rather full after the grazing board so went for one of the cupcakes, these were a perfect end to a perfect lunch.
service was verygoodwe had a very friendly and helpful waitress. it was definitely a 5 star experience!

severely disappointed. my partner and i have given epicures so many chances. the first time we went the service was terrible - we waited for our order to be taken for around 15 mins after having been seated, we were served by numerous different waitresses, none of which smiled or made an effort to be pleasant. we gave it a few more tries and it seemed that they were slowly coming to terms with what serving customers means. however, our latest visit has made us realise we should just give up with this place. we arrived and waited to be seated. after agoodfew minutes of hanging around near the bar waiting for any member or staff to approach us (or any staff behind the bar to acknowledge us) to take us to a table we just decided to walk out. if you are not going to bother seeing to customers as they come in don't have a sign saying "please let us seat you", just let us chose a table ourselves.
it's a pity as the food in epicures is pretty decent, but it seems the place is too far up its own backside to bother with customers.

not worth hassle. sadly my first experience very disappointing seated very quickly, tea/coffee orders taken and served with efficiency. however, all downhill after that as although order taken at same time as drinks waited 25min to be served, this appeared to be a ploy as by time folk were being served food they ordered more tea/coffee which in turn adds to their profits. at no time did staff inform customers that there will be delay in being served due to being busy. also strange that if you are a regular customer your food and drinks come very quickly. staff also verygoodavoiding eye contact when you’re requiring further service. have to say if you walk 10 minutes to byres rd you will find much nicer and friendlier service.

exceedinglygoodcakes. i've had my ups and downs with this place, having gone there semi-regularly since it opened. the food, service and ambience has variably been good, great, not so good, and occasionally terrible. i accept that restaurants operate with a transient workforce, and that this can cause inconsistencies in product and service over a given period of time. the one thing, however, that has remained at an excellent standard in epicures is its cakes, pastries, scones, breads and all other things baked. i'm more of an afternoon diner so often choose from the pastry menu, wherever i happen to be, and can honestly state that epicures' range of freshly baked goods is of a standard unrivalled by any of its local competitors. not that this should reflect badly on these other business, just that epicures does do, as mr kipling might put it, exceedinglygoodcakes.

atmospheregoodfood terrible and service grumpy- an embarrasment for us personally as taking a visiting academic from canada (staying hotel du vin ) for jet lag supper - and as scottish hospitality goes - a poor example - at best an over priced bar-

natty says go for the brownie!!!. so here we go, epicures.... it's lovely, i must say. the staff are great, the coffee is reallygoodand the chocolate brownie is melt in your mouth to die for delicious! i have had on two occasions had the eggs benedict and the first time i was dissapointed because it was gammon on it and not bacon. the second time i was dissapointed because my eggs were practically raw but i had asked for real bacon this time which was a bonus. brownie though........enough said.

great meal. although the menu is fairly limited the food is fresh & well cooked, not that cheap in the evenings & £6.50 for 2 small crab cakes starter is a bit steep. alcohol is also quite expensive but all in all a verygoodmeal.

lovely decor and staff however i ordered the "loaded" bacon sandwich. it came with 2 strips of bacon? this was meant to be loaded opposed to the normal bacon sandwich, so i dread to think what comes on that. notgoodvalue for money!
