attentive, professional staff and friendly. lunch / brunch menu excellent. soup and sandwich delicious and plentiful. a great venue for catching up with friends. you can relax without being asked every 10 minutes if you wish to order something else.

terrible service, a complete disappointment. having visited on a sunday i felt it necessary to post a review in regards to the service & attitude display by a particular waitress. having sat outside for lunch we waited a little over 5minutes to be given a menu & ordered a coffee & water. another 10mins passed & our drinks came. immediately we ordered soup, sandwich & a mackerel salad - quick & easy?. as time began to pass people who had arriving after us were tucking into their grub as we sat starving. the waitress, who by now had stopped coming outside appeared 25mins later to say food shouldnt be long kitchen was busy - again we were waiting on soup, sandwich & salad. finally at an impressive 35mins after ordering, our food came and so did the rain! we asked to be seated inside, there was no seats, fair enough not her fault but we said we cant eat in the rain, and to be honest 35mins, busy or not, was a ridiculous time to wait for soup & salad. to which the waitress became flustered and in an alarming tone and attitude said 'right ... ok' and walked away from us with the food!! as she hop stepped away like a huffy 12yr old my fiance asked for the drinks bill which we got a 'its fine' as she scurried away with her back to us! the whole situation was remarkable and somewhat embarrassing, her tone was shocking. i have never experienced such a response from a waitress - thank god! whilst we acknowledged with here there was nothing to be done about there being no indoor seating, there was no apology made for the fact our food - which to be honest doesnt take much prep - took 35mins to arrive, that people sitting inside were tucking into their food despite arriving well after us and . we both walked away in dismay having had an adult act like a child and turn their back on us and walk away. its sad because i normally enjoy epicures but i will never return after this display of 'customer service' and i will certainly be telling my friends who also frequent epicures of this terrible service. this one waitress has effectively ruined my opinion of this establishment and i will no longer recommend it to people. from previous reviews it seems i might not be the only person to received the wrath of epicures service!! shame

wow- clearly a huge diversity of views proving you either love it or hate it! well we hit it on a good night with 4 lovely fish courses served up by efficient sweet staff in a very relaxed atmosphere. my seabass on a lemon and thyme risotto was extremely tasty. the fresh mint tea was sensational. will come back when next in glasgow- hope that it can be more consistent than the reviewers suggest!

epicures was highly impressive. it served us dishes of very good quality, presented smartly, in friendly and welcoming surroundings.

dont bother!. other places in the area with better service and food. manageress wasn't the most pleasent either. i think its ok if you are a regular. they will need to step up if they are trying attract new custom as plenty of competition near by and already not great reviews.

rubbish. went in for a hot chocolate and also had a "big breakfast".
explained i did not want mushrooms if they were part of the breakfast. 35 long minutes later (i could have driven home and made it quicker) the poor excuse of a "big" breakfast (1 link, half a potato scone, 1 rasher of bacon, half a tomato, 1 black pudding and an egg)appeared with a large horrible mushroom in the middle of the plate. i explained to the different (face trippng her) waitress that i requested no mushrooms. 5 mins later it reappeared without the mushroom. (its about 15 steps to where they took it off!!)this jont is probably only for those up their own arse and only want to bee seen in a west end place. poor food, poor service. hoped that it would have offered more, but it failed.

martin who served us was a gentleman. always is, helpful and friendly guy. helped us pick a lovely chicken burger and coffees were great.

after a little goose chase around the west end for some eggs benny, we ended up here. it was exactly what i had in mind - a really nice, semi-rustic atmosphere, very relaxed. the staff were very welcoming, and attentive, and it wasn't very busy when we arrived so everything arrived so fast. our eggs were definitely overcooked, but we pointed it out, and they whisked our plates away and brought back fresh ones (with perfectly cooked eggs). to apologise, they didn't charge us for the coffee, but that was ridiculous! so we left a large-ish tip. all in all i was really happy with the place, even with a minor slip up (and i know i such at poaching eggs), so i will be returning.

this restaurant is a great place to have a meal anytime of the day, but i recommend going here for breakfast or brunch. the interior is warm and welcoming, and the atmosphere is relaxed. it gets pretty busy, so be prepared to wait for a table, or sit by the window counter. the coffee here is well made and tastes great. try the eggs benedict or the traditional cullen skink soup! they also have the most amazing brownies you will ever taste.

i shared the meat grazing board, it looked amazing and tasted even better!
every ingredient tasted fresh and delicious, will definitely be returning to try more from the menu.
the house white wine went well with this!
there was an excellent selection of cakes at the front of the bar when you enter...visiting here without trying one must be impossible!
we were rather full after the grazing board so went for one of the cupcakes, these were a perfect end to a perfect lunch.
service was very good we had a very friendly and helpful waitress. it was definitely a 5 star experience!

not enough staff for a busy sunday brunch period. tables were dirty and tea cups were filthy. the food is reasonable but surely if this cafe was in any other area it would not be so busy. avoid unless you're desperate.

restaurant. visited epicures on various occasions. each and every time staff pleasant attentive look as if they enjoy working there. food beautiful . what else can we ask for, be patient all who find fault life's too short appreciate good service!

popped into epicures for a coffee was shown to table placed my order then waited fifteen minutes before being told electricity had gone down and coffee would probs be about five minutes while coffe machine up and running. sat for a further 20 minutes know one approached us again to let us know what was happening or to apologise for the inconvenience or ask us if we would like an alternative. i dine out frequently and this is the only second time i have experienced such poor service, will definitely not be back.

severely disappointed. my partner and i have given epicures so many chances. the first time we went the service was terrible - we waited for our order to be taken for around 15 mins after having been seated, we were served by numerous different waitresses, none of which smiled or made an effort to be pleasant. we gave it a few more tries and it seemed that they were slowly coming to terms with what serving customers means. however, our latest visit has made us realise we should just give up with this place. we arrived and waited to be seated. after a good few minutes of hanging around near the bar waiting for any member or staff to approach us (or any staff behind the bar to acknowledge us) to take us to a table we just decided to walk out. if you are not going to bother seeing to customers as they come in don't have a sign saying "please let us seat you", just let us chose a table ourselves.
it's a pity as the food in epicures is pretty decent, but it seems the place is too far up its own backside to bother with customers.

big mistake. after reading the reviews i can now understand why my fiance had such a negative experience the other day. had arranged to meet her in hyndland but was running late so she stopped at epicures for a drink and sat outside. waitress came out and took her order for a cocktail then ten mins later came out and asked if she wanted ice or soda in it. a full half hour after ordering the drink she still had not recieved her drink so i told her on the mobile to leave and and she cancelled her order with another waitress. pretty hellish and offputting. i myself have never been in here but as someone else said there are plenty of other places to drink/eat nearby and i certainly will give this place a body swerve in the future. perhaps the manager should employ better staff rather than students looking for a quick buck
