so, my husband and i went to emilys for evening snacks and to work a bit since we had heard a lot about the place and the hotel. we sat in the reading room as one of the waiter told us that food will be served there. when we got settled in the reading room another waiter came and denied to serve food and told us there was a conference to be held in the reading room. we got up from there and got another table in the restaurant. iorderedan oreo shake for myself and my husbandordereda masala buttermilk. to be honest none of those things were even crossed a basic mark ! the buttermilk was sooo thick and soo salty. and the oreo shake wasn’t even edible. the milk was in that shake wasn’t fresh as a result i returned the order. none of them cared enough to know what was the problem or didn’t even try to fix it.
it’s sad because that hotel is one of the best there and they cannot even serve a good oreo shake and buttermilk.
would never want to go back there.
and by the way we sat there and worked for more than an hour because there was no other place to go. and no conference happened in the reading room !

this restaurant is a part of rokeby manor.

since we stayed here, the breakfast was complimentary. normally one would expect a buffet, but they had an ala cart menu. weorderedeggs, pancakes, baked beans, hash brown, toasts and coffee. a scrumptious breakfast.

the outdoor sitting amidst the misty weather was icing on the cake.

came back to this restaurant after 3 years. their menu explicitly mentions that the breakfast menu lasts till 10:30am on weekdays and we were expecting to have proper main course. however, when we were about to order we were told that the main course would only be available after 12pm. since we had come all the way, we reluctantlyorderedpoori sabzi and ginger lemon honey tea from their breakfast menu. poori sabzi was average at best (not worth the price) while the tea was too sweet. would only recommend this place for the ambience and the view. don't go by what they write on their menu/website. call them beforehand to confirm what food items are available.

very overrated now. i had lunch at this place a couple of years ago and completely enjoyed it. however, today was the worst experience. i waited 30 minutes to get a table and then another 50 minutes to get my food. iorderedchicken lasagna and lamb biryani and apart from being extremely small portions, the quality was terrible. biryani was tasteless, lamb was not properly cooked. the rice they used were of a very poor quality. overly expensive. all i left with was a high blood pressure and empty stomach.

like any tourist coming to mussorie, this comes on top so we decided to check it out. sure its in a great location with lot of history, the food is the exact opposite.

weorderedtheir famous naaniza, cottage cheese steak , spinach and mushroom burger. all 3 were bad, the burger neither came with cheese nor sauce and taste was very alright, the nanniza lacked the sauce entirely and steak was not great as well.

their breads served at ghe beginning were cold and didnt taste very fresh to us.

frankly, we were puzzled why such a hype. other places the area serve better food imo

back to the british era

rokeby manor boasts of a fascinating british villa with an enchanting ambiance and a very sophisticated client base. no wonder we could spot a maserati suv among other minions like audis and mercs. it is undoubtedly an extravagant resort and houses a cafe called emily's
on the upper floor of the main building. you'd be overwhelmed by the smell of old age wooden stairs and the scenic view just outside the cafe. this surely would be a recommendation if you wanna spend a fancy weekend or maybe go for a pre-wedding shoot.

but don't start making your plans already cause we've yet to review the food. maybe it was due to the absence of the head chef that around 50%, yes! 50% food on the menu wasn't available. we were about to leave but the beauty of that place kept a hold on us.orderedpizza which they serve in naan base, a cheese toast and a hummus pita to start with.
couldn't believe how bland the pizza was and the hummus was slightly watery than usual. the toast was really good but wasn't enough for us to try anything else. the breads didn't look like fresh out of the oven which was very unexpected as they've got an inhouse bakery.

a not so wonderful experience after we tasted the food and paid a hefty amount for we'd say, just the experience.

food: 7/10
ambiance: 9.5/10
meal for 2: 1500₹

i visited this restaurant exactly a month back to celebrate a special occasion. since it was a weekend and landour was pretty crowded we had pre-booked the table that afternoon itself. also, we had requested for decorating the table. we reached few minutes early than the booking time so we were asked to wait while the table was getting ready which turned out to be quite disappointing. they had just provided us an led candle for the decoration part. weorderedpasta, pita bread and hummus. the food was good. pasta was a little dry so we asked the chef to customize it a little. we would have loved to have some wine for the celebration but sadly the place didnt serve any liquor.the staff was nice and polite otherwise and clicked us a few good pictures.

this colonial style old world charm restaurant in landour is a must visit i must say.

the food, the views, the service and the experience is just exceptional.

we dined here on our anniversary eve and on our last minute and special request, we were given special attention and all the support the staff could.

weorderedthe mutton soup, hummus with pita and siciliana pasta. the pasta was even made to our taste and liking.

this is a must visit restaurant when in landour.

a restaurant inside 179 years old property. even the feel of being inside the building will give you a chill. you'll be full of curiosity while walking down to the restaurant.

the place is perfectly maintained. we went there for dinner, orderedbbq chicken and baked potatoes with onions and bacon and simply loved it. the food and service was awesome.

i would love to stay at rokeby on my next visit.

don't forget to order toffee pudding it's a must must try.

i feel good food is the most essential part of any restaurant. and second comes the service. it was pouring heavily that night and i all wanted was to have handmade in-house nachos with salsa from emily's. iorderedit, the nachos were hot but the salsa was ice cold. when i combined the two there was zero flavour. plus the quantity of nachos was next to nothing. hardly 8-9 chips. i was highly disappointed. then weorderedpink sauce pasta, in the name of vegetables they put gobhi in it. there was one tiny strand of broccoli. i mean no quality of food at all. if you are charging someone money, deliver a quality product at least. i think it needs to up it's game and bring back the old flavours of emily's.

“rokeby manor is a magnificent example of an "old raj" building which has been converted into a fine hotel in a sympathetic manner. the place is so picturesque. the property is charming and tastefully done. beautiful view of the valley

the village of landour is a delight - lovely scenery, green, uncrowded and genteel. the hotel really sets the scene...very serene and gentle with a splendid location.
“i visited rokeby manor's emily restaurant for lunch.
the staff was very helpful and friendly.
weorderedboth veg and non veg dishes, which were delicious. andorderedrokeby's sticky toffee pudding, which too was an excellent choice.
they also have adorned their walls with beautiful quotes.
now plan to visit and stay there someday.”
the hotel staff are extremely friendly and helpful, the restaurant is a delight and i find it hard to imagine a better place in india to unwind.”
