emily's - the rokeby manor

while when you visit emily's, you will enjoy the food but their hospitality is god awful. so when we reached emily's we were told to stand outside their gate and by gate i literally mean the property's gate and that the waiting is of 1 hour which increased to 2 when a couple that reached there 5 minutes after us 🤣
now to the second point, after feeling really awkward standing outside the gate and requesting the guard multiple times, he asked us to wait inside (which we thought that they will let us sit somewhere), nevertheless, we reached inside, the receptionist asked us to wait outside the door now because it's not allowed and out guests here are complaining to which i have two things to say: either you have your restaurant in an isolated or a different building than your stays or don't open it for public, you want to earn as well and you don't even have the basic courtesies.
now moving on to the next part, we went to the first floor towards the restaurant and let me tell you it was more than half empty to which they were willing to make us wait outside the gate.
now we ordered, we had our food, but in a decent place youd be served with water and refilled regularly but here remember you need to ask and you'll get it though. you've opened a restaurant, but the least you can do is be courteous. while we were going back, it was raining and there was a family of 8-10 people who guess what, were made to stand outside near the gate under a tree and that included elders, so back to my original point, i've given 3 only for the food but otherwise it's a point blank 0 especially to your receptionist and your staff managing tables and queue to the restaurant.

lets talk firstly about what is good- the architecture, the outside sitting( just 2 tables) and the ambience. the food is at best average. the fresh juice is perhaps the only thing i'd order again because it doesnt reek of some old bottled syrup of strawberry for the shakes we ordered. the nachos, which took more than half an hour to arrive were just plain straight from the bag along with a packed salsa dip poured into a bowl. the apple walnut waldrof salad was average with a decent amount of walnuts and cruncy apple cubes, seemed fresh though the dressing was again, below par. the fish and chips were decent. not worth a detour.

so, my husband and i went to emilys for evening snacks and to work a bit since we had heard a lot about the place and the hotel. we sat in the reading room as one of the waiter told us that food will be served there. when we got settled in the reading room another waiter came and denied to serve food and told us there was a conference to be held in the reading room. we got up from there and got another table in the restaurant. i ordered an oreo shake for myself and my husband ordered a masala buttermilk. to be honest none of those things were even crossed a basic mark ! the buttermilk was sooo thick and soo salty. and the oreo shake wasn’t even edible. the milk was in that shake wasn’t fresh as a result i returned the order. none of them cared enough to know what was the problem or didn’t even try to fix it.
it’s sad because that hotel is one of the best there and they cannot even serve a good oreo shake and buttermilk.
would never want to go back there.
and by the way we sat there and worked for more than an hour because there was no other place to go. and no conference happened in the reading room !

i so wanted to visit this place . hotel rokeby is sophisticated clean with a great view . emily is a restaurant in rokeby . they serve great food , portion was good with great taste . the only drawback is they don’t allow you to play games even like uno or jenga .

we loved emily’s. beautiful view, yummy food and good service. the two tables outsides (each 6 seater each) was of occupied. infact one of the big table was occupied by a single person for soooo long. we waited hoping we wil get a table outside but didn’t. however the view and seating was good everywhere else too.there’s a very old english charm to the place. hope to stay in their hotel facility too sometime in future!

the views are superb especially around sunset time.. ambience is good. but items are too expensive and not worth the price. the most hyped dish - sticky toffee pudding is good no doubt but definitely not worth rs 400 for the quantity served. 18% gst is applied on the bill!! overrated place, will burn a big hole in your pocket.

since we stayed here, the breakfast was complimentary. normally one would expect a buffet, but they had an ala cart menu. we ordered eggs, pancakes, baked beans, hash brown, toasts and coffee. a scrumptious breakfast.

the outdoor sitting amidst the misty weather was icing on the cake.

awesome place with equally amazing food, view and vibe. everything is just perfect about the place. it is a
hidden treasure.

pathetic service. really bad quantities, i was made to wait over an hour for the food. absolutely not worth it.

the ambience was beautiful but the food wasn't up to the mark unfortunately. everything tasted bland. the service was prompt and good.

came back to this restaurant after 3 years. their menu explicitly mentions that the breakfast menu lasts till 10:30am on weekdays and we were expecting to have proper main course. however, when we were about to order we were told that the main course would only be available after 12pm. since we had come all the way, we reluctantly ordered poori sabzi and ginger lemon honey tea from their breakfast menu. poori sabzi was average at best (not worth the price) while the tea was too sweet. would only recommend this place for the ambience and the view. don't go by what they write on their menu/website. call them beforehand to confirm what food items are available.

very overrated now. i had lunch at this place a couple of years ago and completely enjoyed it. however, today was the worst experience. i waited 30 minutes to get a table and then another 50 minutes to get my food. i ordered chicken lasagna and lamb biryani and apart from being extremely small portions, the quality was terrible. biryani was tasteless, lamb was not properly cooked. the rice they used were of a very poor quality. overly expensive. all i left with was a high blood pressure and empty stomach.

rokeby is known for its mesmerising view, which makes it a must visit place for all the travellers! we had placed an order for spinach ravioli, roasted pumpkin salad, olive and sun dried naanza and paneer tikka! the reviews are:
spinach ravioli: the ravioli tasted superb and for me its a must try dish for all the pasta lovers! we got the same customised to a mix sauce one and it was delicious! i would really give it a five star rating!
salad: the salad was okayish! you can avoid ordering the same! it was sweet in taste, and the portion size was also small!
paneer tikka: the tikka was roasted perfectly with proper spices! it was really good and i would recommend it to the people who love north indian food!
naanza: for me the naanza was a spoiler! it was flooded with cheese and since the same is on a naan, it did not go well with the taste buds! you can probably avoid ordering the same and try out some other dish!
overall, emily’s is a place to enjoy the ambience and have a nice family time! so here the food is a secondary thing and it’s a must visit place to have a good time with a wonderful view

very average restaurant according to me. the cost makes it seem like a fine dining place. but the food does not do justice to the price. the gourmet burger was anything but gourmet. very meagre portion size and the patty wasn’t good either. scanty filling inside the burger. tried shepherds pie as well. the cheesy mashed potato did not have good consistency (very watery) and the minced lamb was also pathetic, more gravy and very less meat. would not recommend. pasta was alright.
overall, a total let down

we had great expectations from this place. but found it to be overrated. burger was below average. it didn't have any patty. khau suey was also very average and may be avoided.we tried a local uttarakhandi dish of sarso ki kapli with mandua ki roti. it was average. mezze platter had 3 dips with bread & falafel. however there were no cucumber, onion, tomato like veggies. so that was like a bread/falafel & dip and not proper mezze platter. that was what not to order. now i will tell you what to order - arabiatta sauce pasta was good. mushroom stroganoff was the best dish for us. pesto spagetti was good. but only those who like pesto sauce may order else may avoid. peach iced tea & hot chocolate are very good. if you order the right items, the experience will be good. else you may be disappointed. cost is about 800 per person.
