worst coffee i've ever had. $13 for eggs, bacon and toast. the best part of the meal was the toast. sister had french toast and the bread was stale.

this place is rated as the best diner in south loop by thrillist chicago and it's totally right. their party melts and burgers are sumptuous. the ambience of the decor will make you feel like riverdale.

recommendation for dinner- cajun chicken breast dinner plate

i would consider myself a french toast fanatic, and this was the best french toast i have ever had. it was so good, you didn't even have to use syrup. most french toasts get dry and require extra stuff to be flavorful, not this one. i also had an amazing breakfast sandwich which overflowed with food. they also make their own root beer which is pretty awesome. i will definitely go back.

inside eleven you will find a deli shop (not open for breakfast), candy shop and a diner. there are neon signs, vintage spray bottles and cake displays along the bar - all had to the modern but old school diner feel.

they serve breakfast all day. our server was friendly and asked if it was our first time there. super helpful as it was our first time so he began to advise of what their popular dish (french toast) and when we ordered, he would explain the dish to ensure we were aware of what we were ordering.

we ordered:
1. a la carte - 2 eggs, 3 pieces of lox (the waiter confirmed the price of the order and even tried to find a combo on the menu that might be cheaper)
2. corn beef and pastrami hash - 2 eggs on top of a lot of corn beef and a side of potatoes $12.99
3. 11 city french toast - fresh baked challah, strawberries, bananas and toasted coconut $12.75

if you are a dessert person, there's a separate menu for cakes, pies and shakes :)

i visited this place 1 month ago with my friend .

when i am in chicago , my friend and me were very hungry and our family is out of station so we mutually decided to go out and have some food .

i ordered some :-

sandwiches 🥪
coffee ☕️
shake 🥤

the best sandwiches i ever eaten .

the ambience was quite simple but as per my opinion , simplicity is the best policy .

service was good .

i will recommend this place if you around this place you must visit .

i was not expecting much from an airport restaurant. but there are very little places at midway to dine in, so i tried this place. the tilapia tacos were very good. i am picky when it comes to food. the tacos were tasty, not just edible. the corn tortillas were soft, but had been grilled. very nicely done with a few charred places for that grilled flavor. the black bean and corn salsa with cojito cheese was flavorful. the fish was nicely seasoned, and the sauce was delicious. there was a selection of draft local brews which was a bonus as well.

"you aren't getting free shit". it's never okay to use foul language when speaking with customers. unfortunately, that was my experience at this establishment. ...after not allowing my party of 5 to be seated because one member was late, they allowed another family to be seated. when confronted, they tried to make excuses for their behavior. one of the managers tried to smooth things over by saying that he "read the group the riot act", but he didn't apologize. after all members of our party were in attendance, we were seated, and one of the members of the other party came to our table to apologize. after receiving the check, we asked to speak with the manager regarding our dissatisfaction, and asked how they planned to rectify the issue. she proceeded to get brad who we were told was one of the owners. he used every micro aggression possible to racially disrespect us. he said things like, "some people don't know how to handle strong personalities and spirits", "you need to calm down", and "if you don't want to tip that's fine, because i'll take care of the waiter" (thankfully the waiter was great). when confronted about his subtle racism, he says "how can i be, i'm jewish", as if that makes him exempt from using racist language. i'm very disappointed at the behavior of brad and the other managers, and if you are like me and you don't appreciate subtle racism and bad service don't eat here. again no one should use foul language when addressing costumers.

nice ambience. nice breakfast and branch place. foods are somewhat tasty. but some preparations could be really bland. it was very crowded when we visited. it took almost around 45 mins to be seated on a sunny summer weekend. drinks are good.

fantastic! perfect for brunch. great atmosphere and great mimosas! much better wait line than yoke a block over, plus yoke is full of noisy tourists. the only issue is that the diner charges each person $3.00 or more for shitty diner coffee. so, just get coffee somewhere else.

worst customer service ever!
i am not a resident of chicago il and as a visitor heard that eleven was a great place to go with wonderful food. unfortunately, i never had the opportunity to experience the food due to extremely poor customer service. i arrived to the restaurant with a large group, however not all members of the group accompanied the eight of us that were in the restaurant. the owner greeted us with the immediate response that all members of our party needed to be present and told our entire party to stand to the side, as not to startle the incoming customers. we obliged. we understood that all members needed to be with us, but asked if there were any accommodations that could be made. the owner, came back and told us that he could accommodate ten people, but reiterated that the other two people, upon arrival would not be able to sit with us. which we understood. however, this point he presumed was not clear because he re-stated it another two times, with the unnecessary presumption that we would proceed to "get in his face" if they were to arrive and not be seated with us, this which he based on his "30 years of restaurant experience." each member of our party assured him that that would be fine. as we waited, the hostess assured us that the owner does not usually behave in this way and that he may have been overwhelmed. however it was 2pm on christmas eve and there were only a handful of customers. the owner, came back and angrily asked us where the "other two members of our party were." at that point, having been harassed by the owner of the establishment, it was pretty clear to our large party that the owner did not want to accommodate a group of young professionals. we promptly took our business elsewhere. the owner literally came back to our group at least four times, while we were waiting as he instructed, to reiterate that we would end up "getting in his face" and that it "would not be pretty. "this was the worst customer service my party and i have ever experienced, especially by the owner of an establishment. his customer service training clearly only extends to a certain type of customer, that category the owner presumed my party failed to fit. i will not recommend this restaurant to my worst enemy.

for the first time in my life, i was actually thrown out of a restaurant (eleven city diner, 1112 s wabash ave, chicago, il 60605) by the owner and was told that i wasn't allowed in there again after patronizing the restaurant for the last three months on a weekly basis.

the food is incredible. the staff is amazing except for one exception -- the owner.

in my entire life -- i have never seen anyone treat his staff so horribly and disrespectful. to be completely honest, i never said anything to him about the way he treated his customers and staff until today (9.27.15) because i loved the food so much and the staff. however, today, for the first time, my food was cold. when i said something to the owner about it, he treated me like crap. then, at that point, i finally decided to give him constructive feedback about his management style. he proceeded to literally throw me out of his establishment and told the host to never allow me in there again.

so, despite my love for their food and their incredible staff, i stuck to my principles -- and made a moral choice rather than the easy way out--continuing to support the restaurant. no one deserves to be treated like the way this owner treats his customers and staff. no one.
