el zocalo mexican grille

for the first night of my foodie group, we ate atelzocalo mexican grille in chandler. i’ve been here several times in the past. they have an awesome patio with lots of pretty lights for dining. they are owned by the del la cruz family. my favorites are the chile relleno and the mole de polo along with their margarita on the rocks. i really enjoyed hanging out with all the foodies that just love to eat good food. great bunch of people!

went on a saturday night about eight thirty, waited for only ten minutes or so, our waiter was excellent. chips and salsa and guac were outstanding. i had shrimp rellanos and my husband had the ahi tuna tacos. both were great and he sopapillas and fried icecream were awesome as well. we sat on the back patio with the band which made our experience complete. well doneel-new-favorite-restaurant.

review ofelzocalo mexican grille in chandler. we had a party of 6 for dinner, 2 couples, a trio, and 2 singles, most of whom were out-of town guests. while the service was slow, the food was good. however, when the check came and the waiter, logan, was asked to separate the bill, he said the policy of the restaurant does not allow separation of the check. he said it could be paid with one or two credit cards. that obviously was not acceptable and when he was again asked to separate the bills, he literally grabbed the bill off the table and disappeared. we assumed he was separating the bill, but 10+ minutes later another gentleman appeared (assume he was a manager though he never identified himself) and said their policy was to not allow separate payments of the check. neither logan nor the other man ever offered any apology or indicated they wanted to do anything to rectify their poor customer service. while the food is alright atelzocalo, i will never return and will never recommend the restaurant. there are lots of other restaurants with good food and with good customer service.

worth finding!. we found this restaurant through urbanspoon and although there were a couple of poor reviews, (as usual there are always those confused few who feel compelled to get revenge by writing the "horrible experience" review), we decided to drive from scottsdale to eat here.
this is now one of our favorite mexican restaurants in az! the food is excellent, nothing like the macayo'seltorito arribas children's fare. authentic and excellent! the shrimp relleno was perfect. we will be returning often.

worth a try!. seat me in the lush, shaded courtyard while the live music is playing, with an order of carne asada and i'm a happy camper. the food is consistent and always enjoyable, as is the service. the back patio makes the restaurant an inviting and attractive setting. when on the east side of the valley, i try to make my way toelzocalo!

my brother came in from seattle, wa and was craving mexican food. we headed toelzocalo. they have one of the best outdoor patios out back. my brother loved the shreeded beef tacos, he said they we're awesome. my wife and i have eaten here several times and always enjoyed the food and ambiance. a great local mexican restaurant. also great for a business lunch meeting out back on the patio.

the absolute worst of the worst. my order was two carne asada soft tacos ala carte for $14. i anticipated a quality meal and instead had the worst food and experience in my 38 years of life.

the tacos were literally made of gristle. wads of meat with strings of fat holding it in lumps. i couldn't chew through it. i'm frightened to even consider that it was not beef but i've never cooked, eaten or been served up the mystery meat i experienced last night. it clearly was not anything close to carne asada.

i rarely complain but i had to say something. $14 is overpriced for two tacos anyway but in anticipation of having carne asada that should've been the best of the best, i was willing to pay more. i not only expressed my concern but i showed the and manager the inedible meat. when he did not apologize or offer any type of solution but to tell me he would tell the cook, i asked to be compensated. he disappeared into the kitchen and never returned. he never discounted the bill and had the server tell me. such unprofessionalism.

there are so many better mexican food places to choose in the valley. serranos (only across the street fromelzocalo) is better priced, has better food, better service and customer satisfaction is a priority (as it should be).

i did not experience one positive aspect of my dining experience atelzocalo and the place is presented as an upscale establishment. they should be embarrassed that they have no loyalty to their customers. i've never had such disgusting food and experienced such an unprofessional place. shame on them.

in love-allo withelzocalo. i absolutely love this place! my favorite thing on the menu is the ahi tacos... they were extremely fresh and unlike anything i've had. they also have great street tacos and enchiladas. and for dessert, the sopapillas are worth it!

great service and food comes out surprisingly fast.
