was seated right away, had good service but the food was not good at all. the only thing killer about the chimi was the $15 price. it tasted as if meat was old and had odd flavor. i was able to eat about half and i had enough. i told the waiter and he came back and gave me 20% off the chimi. i was never offered another dish to eat. as for the tacos you might as well go to del taco as small as the 7 bucks for 2 tiny tacos are. very disapointed and would not recommend this place to anyone ever!!!!!

well, i will say the food was tasty. service was very good. i sat at the bar and the bartender was on top of it. granted it was just me and 2 friends there. none the less good job. my friends all enjoyed there meals as well. although we all agreed on one thing. the price is a little out of line. i had a carne asada torta. quite tasty... although it wasn't made correctly. it didn't come with the mayo mustard combo in it. which it said it would. a little disappointed. i think if this place lowered the prices a bit, it would be happening. probably won't come back, there are too many just as good if not better mexican joints in the area for less. if i want to spend 16 bucks on lunch, i'll hit up san tan next door.

the low lighting and warm mexican decor was the perfect date environment! we had the combo chicken, steak & shrimp fajitas that came out hot & fast! home made tortillas topped it all off! i will definitely be back!

sit in the back patio under the trees and surrounded with flowers and enjoy the great mexican food. although phoenix is full of mexican restaurants but  one can hardly find relleno. in my search for good shrimp relleno, i landed up here for lunch and would like to visit every time i am around.

mike is the best! request him. food is good too!

beware of the 20% automatic gratuity for parties of 6 or more.

too over prices for what it is. food was good, would not pay that again.

for the first night of my foodie group, we ate at el zocalo mexican grille in chandler. i’ve been here several times in the past. they have an awesome patio with lots of pretty lights for dining. they are owned by the del la cruz family. my favorites are the chile relleno and the mole de polo along with their margarita on the rocks. i really enjoyed hanging out with all the foodies that just love to eat good food. great bunch of people!

great atmosphere on the patio, with good staff. however, my carne asada burrito was sickeningly salty, and the prices are more than macayos, which is way better if i want salty food.

we went on a saturday afternoon and there were only three other tables. after sitting for over five minutes, we still hadn't had anyone come to our table or even address us at all. it was as if we were invisible. we got up and left.

my favorite spot downtown chandler! amazing carne asada, my favorite menu item. stay late for margaritas and wait for the street taco cart to come out, $1 tacos to soak up the tequilla!

service was great, food was delicious. definitely will return soon!! five stars...

went on a saturday night about eight thirty, waited for only ten minutes or so, our waiter was excellent. chips and salsa and guac were outstanding. i had shrimp rellanos and my husband had the ahi tuna tacos. both were great and he sopapillas and fried icecream were awesome as well. we sat on the back patio with the band which made our experience complete. well done el -new-favorite-restaurant.

review of el zocalo mexican grille in chandler. we had a party of 6 for dinner, 2 couples, a trio, and 2 singles, most of whom were out-of town guests. while the service was slow, the food was good. however, when the check came and the waiter, logan, was asked to separate the bill, he said the policy of the restaurant does not allow separation of the check. he said it could be paid with one or two credit cards. that obviously was not acceptable and when he was again asked to separate the bills, he literally grabbed the bill off the table and disappeared. we assumed he was separating the bill, but 10+ minutes later another gentleman appeared (assume he was a manager though he never identified himself) and said their policy was to not allow separate payments of the check. neither logan nor the other man ever offered any apology or indicated they wanted to do anything to rectify their poor customer service. while the food is alright at el zocalo, i will never return and will never recommend the restaurant. there are lots of other restaurants with good food and with good customer service.

worth finding!. we found this restaurant through urbanspoon and although there were a couple of poor reviews, (as usual there are always those confused few who feel compelled to get revenge by writing the "horrible experience" review), we decided to drive from scottsdale to eat here.
this is now one of our favorite mexican restaurants in az! the food is excellent, nothing like the macayo's el torito arribas children's fare. authentic and excellent! the shrimp relleno was perfect. we will be returning often.
