congrats to el gabacho on making my "never again" list.
chips- a basket of crumbs..,,three times over.
margaritas - over priced and came out wrong (with salt) both times.
food - greasy great street tacos with over charred meat
ordered a large side of guacamole appetizer- served on shredded iceberg lettuce. disgusting.

el gabacho is near uta campus and offers great mexican plates and appetizers with a college friendly price range. the ambiance is warm and welcoming with a festive outdoor patio with occasional love music and mariachi. make sure to get yourself the margarita sangria swirl!

fiesta fifty. david and his staff were awesome in catering our 50th wedding anniversary! they graciously served 160 guests at our outdoor party. the attention to detail from buffet lines of beef and chicken fajitas, another with ice tea and all its accompaniments, to another with chips, queso, and guacamole were spaced for ease of serving our guests.

el gabacho does not serve on styrofoam but elegant white silver rimmed plastic plates. i was overwhelmed by their attention to detail, even returning to the restaurant to bring back fresh tortillas when they ran short. it seems everyone was enjoying the delicious food and one guest wrote to say he returned for a second "helpin'"!

i truly have never experienced a buffet and catered event that ran like clockwork - from a visit by david a week early to plan the party flow to visits during the day for set up. the tables were bussed and trash taken away, david, his wife, and his staff did an awesome job! the guests continue to remark about the enjoyable evening and the delicious food!

it was truly a memorable event!

you too should experience such a fantastic

definitely my all time favorite tex-mex place. 1. the them is great 2. it's hidden and only locals know about it and it's hardly over crowded. 3. food is amazing and margaritas are too good to pass up.

this is the worst restaurant experience i have had in a long time. let's start with the chips that they throw on your table and sling the sauce on it as well. they are fried in oil that taste very old. then the tacos come out and the ground meat taste and smells as if it came from a can. the wait staff can not remember the orders and to top it off once telling them the food was bad they took ten minutes to bring the check! i will never eat here again.

we both had a hankering for some mexican food with a beer or margarita, and so with my handy dandy urbanspoon app at my disposal, we went digging. after a couple of minutes of research, el gabacho looked like the perfect place to try. and it was. the first thing you'll notice upon arrival is that it takes a couple of minutes to get your bearings. even though the restaurant is visible from the street, and there is outdoor patio seating, the actual entrance is inside a nice mini-mall called the brownstone village. once inside the restaurant, you'll be immersed in the world of the old west - at least

just your everyday simple tex-mex joint. this is a great little place a close relative of mine took me to on recent trip to arlington. small and intimate with warm wood tones to help hold the noise down.
the cheese enchiladas & fajitas for one came out fast, fresh, and hot. salsa verde on my enchiladas had a very fresh tomatillo flavor, and i really enjoyed it. fajitas were spiced well and flavorful as well. lots of beers to choose from, which always round out mexican food quite well.
service was efficient and friendly and parking was a breeze. all in all a great everyday simple little tex-mex joint, suitable for lunch or dinner.

i often visit el gabacho and have been happy until this last visit on 01/17/2013 when i ordered my usual cheese chile rejeno (msp). this normally comes covered in cheese. this time it was covered in ranchero sauce which made the breading very soggy. i never send pates back but i did this time. instead of replacing my dish made to order they chose to wipe off the ranchero sauce, put cheese on it, and return it to me. i could tell it was the same chile wiped down with cheese sauce on it. i know because the same bite was missing and the breading was still soggy. after asking for a manager and explaining the issue i was not offered a comped meal or given a written future comped meal. they just lost a regular customer that almost always brings friends. i'm done! !

meh. we went on a thursday night. the restaurant is very crowded at dinner time and very popular. the ambiance is very eclectic and high energy. lots of interesting junk hanging around the ceiling, etc .... however the food was a disappointment. i had the "puebla". cheese enchiladas and a taco?? the enchiladas were doused with chile con carne in the true texmex style, which hid the fact that the enchiladas themselves were skimpy on the cheese and would have benefited from some onions... if they were there, i didn't notice them. on the border has much better cheese enchiladas than these. i'm using otb as a reference because that is a major chain that most texmex lovers have some knowlege of. the enchiladas were also substantially salty, something that on the border seems to control better. the taco? was a round puffy hard shell filled with ground beef, shredded iceberg lettuce and shredded cheddar cheese. i think there were a few diced tomatoes on it too. the ground beef was so incredibly salty i culdn't finish it. it was hard to eat too. overall, the food was just meh.
