i was so disappointed. i live very nearby and my husband and i have intended to give el gabacho a try since it opened. last night was the night. we thought we were on store for a great meal when we entered. the restaurant was very attractive and my husband was thrilled by all the tvs. he had been looking for a sports bar! unfortunately, the first impression didn't match the food. we ordered two appetizers: stuffed jalepenos and spinoff quesadillas. the spinach quesadillas could have used some seasoning but were passable. the jalepenos, however, were awful. not bad. i mean awful. whatever they were coated in tasted like dried up frozen corn dog coating. and you were supposed to dip it in jr. high school football game queso dip. nasty! short story. . . not going back. hate it 'cause i like to support local businesses but it was gross.

great hole in the wall. some friends of mine recommended this place and i'm glad they did. we went on a hot day, but the margarita specials and hanging out on the patio made up for it. i regret i didn't order any actual food, but it appeared pretty good from what some friends had. the margaritas and chips/salsa were enough to get me hooked on this place. will be back often.

favorite mexican restaurant. great lunch menu. i use to work in an office down the street and visited weekly. although i'm in south arlington/mansfield isd i still go on my day off. it's my mother's favorite too. her 75th birthday was today so we stopped in for a late lunch. david, the owner, who always recognizes us came over with his staff and sang "happy bday" and surprised her with a wonderful sopapailla. we always enjoy shopping in the brownstone afterwards.

absoleutely outstanding!. el gabcho should be on everyone's no miss list. my wife and i split our time between our home in houston and our home in arlington. we never miss an opportunity to eat here when we are in town; which is often. the food is outstanding; the nachos are the best i've had anywhere. highly recommend you stop in... you'll enjoy the atmoshphere as much as the food! it's simply great food with great service!

still like it. well i was the first to comment on this place back on september 21, 2008. and although just like any restaurant, there have been less than 100% visits i still go on a regular basis. well not so much recently as i've been out of town but i plan to go today and get one of my favorite dishes, the skillet flameado. (thanks ryan). yes they have had new waitresses, yes they have kinks in their system...but honestly, who doesn't? i will continue to go to this place for as long as they will have me (and that's sometimes in question since i will drink at the bar till closing time, lol) david the owner is one of the nicest guys i've come across and no matter who is tending bar they are always ready with my shot of crown when i come in. hell they even gave me a nick name.

loved it.. i have been to el gabacho on several occasions, not only by myself but with a date and with friends, every time has been fantastic. the food is great and the staff is very friendly. i tend to try to get outside seating but have eaten inside as well (although inside feels like the patio of a house due to the decor). i strongly recommend this for a date or just casual dining, it's very nice and upscale without the requirements of a suite and tie.

small, but cute restaurant. i am positive it was our server's first day on the job. she couldn't answer most of our questions regarding the menu and food and seem perplexed by others. she brought us a glass of water that had a rubber band in it (no joke). she said they didn't have hot sauce. when i ordered my entree and asked what came on it, like lettuce and tomato, she mumbled and left. my entree of two chalupas came with beans and about a pond of cheese on top. i just thought that was how it came until the check came and she had written "no lettuce, no tomato" down. to add insult to injury, all patrons should look up what "gabacho" means and then ask yourself if this is really where you want to eat. in summary, the food and service was like a fancy taco bell. been to far better and really don't get the good reviews.
