best mexican tacos ever. the title says it all. el camino real serves the best tacos i've ever eaten. they are on soft corn tortillas with a slice of avocado and radish. the carnitas (pork) are my favorites... absolutely delicious with the tomatillo sauce. i won't go to another mexican restaurant for fear of being disappointed now that i frequent el camino real. did i mention the ladies that provide excellent tableserviceand just what a deal these tacos are? go for the tacos, you won't be disappointed.

try the molcajete. this little place is not only "the real way", it is also the real deal (i know it really means "the royal way", but i'm trying to be clever, work with me here.) nice and bright, colorfully decorated with 4 or 5 booths, and maybe 8 tables - no separate bar area, very small outside seating area.

usual suspects on the menu, especially the lunch specials. rice is very nice, grains properly separated; beans are rather soupy, but with good flavor; chips are nice, but the salsa is thin, and a little bland. the authentic soft tacos are very, very nice - frankly much better, and much better plated, than at its "sister" restaurant in the guilford college shopping center. the carnitas and steak tacos were especially nice.

but the real dish is el molcajete - a large dish with beef, pork, chicken, chorizo, roasted green onion, roasted jalapeno peppers, roasted catctus, cheese, and avacado served in a large, hot lava rock bow ( the molcajete)l - the same kind of bowl used to make salsa in mexican homes. this dish will serve 3 or 4 people, and comes with tortillas, beans, rice, and both a red and green sauce. you in effect use these items to make your own tacos, and they are awesome. the price is $21,99, but will feed 3 or 4. this is the single best mexican dish i've every eaten because there are so many tastes and flavors going on here. the 2 sauces are a little on the mild side, but there is some hotter red sauce available, on request.

theservicehere is excellent and friendly, and the food is quick out of the kitchen. there are a number of reasons to try this little gem, but el molcajete seals the deal - the real deal.

theservicewas excellent, and the food was very good! the horchata was delicious! they have $1 tacos every tuesday and thursday, and you definitely can't beat that. it is small, but doesn't feel terribly crowded, even when packed out.

best mexican food we've found!. my boyfriend and i moved here from raleigh/cary a little over a month ago. we have a found place in our heart for a mexican restaurant in cary and had been desperately trying to find something that comes close here in greensboro. we'll we have definitely found it here with el camino - we even think it might be better!

the staff andservicewas great, everyone was extremely friendly and didn't hover or try and rush us out despite the fact that it was 8pm on a sunday evening. we had the 1.99 lime margaritas - there are great drink specials every night and the margaritas were very good. the chunky guacamole is great - not like the pre-packaged stuff a lot of mexican restaurants serve. the carnitas tacos my boyfriend ordered were served in a more traditional style with radish and cilantro and he raved about them. the rice was great - it actually had veggies in it! i had cheese enchiladas which were pleasantly light but filling. the food didn't leave us feeling heavy afterwards which was a wonderfully pleasant surprise as most mexican restaurants can't boast.

we have definitely found our mexican restaurant in greensboro and suggest it to anyone looking for an authentic inexpensive mexican meal!
