best tacos i have ever had. tacos are not usually a huge hit with me when i go to amexicanrestaurant - i like them, but they are usually not exceptional. the tacos made out on the street outside of reyna foods in the strip - awesome, and definitely the best tacos i have had anywhere. the ingredients are all great, but the grilled flavor of the tortilla and the fresh ingredients, included the freshly squeezed lime juice, complete everything and make every bite wonderful. the beef tongue and fish tacos were fantastic. also, if you like some heat, try their homemade sauces in the big plastic jars at the end of the line. now this is street food, baby!

renya's new dining room. i enjoyed a wonderful lunch, and returned the next week for dinner. the service was good, interior design is authentic mexican. no longer just a taco shack! the food selections are very nice and the meals were excellent! the new dining room has only been open almost a week. i look forward to my nextmexicanmeal at reyna's.

not authentic. i am mexican, my parents are from mexico, i have visited mexico several times and i come from california. i was in the mood for some tacos so we decided to try these tacos and the tacos are disgusting. i don't mean it in a bad way and i can see how many people who have never hadmexicanfood can say that the tacos are good, but they are not good and defintetly not authentic. mexcian tacos do not come with lettuce, cheese, sour cream, nor tomato. i am actually very disappointed that so many pittsburgh people are bieng ripped off and scammed. i was very disappointed that my ownmexicanpeople are representing these tacos as authentic. the tacos have no flavor nor are they presented with any authenticity. the food that is bieng served has nomexicanpride and the tacos are a scam. it's as though the cook does not even care what he feeds fellow pitt poeple, just becuase they don't know no better. this taco stand would be out of business in cali and mexico. this is a pathetic cook with no pride in his cooking and in no way representsmexicantacos. i can imagine the cook saying, "dumb poeple, don't even know what they are eating" cook just worried about making his money, what a scam.

authentic cheap tacos. the taco stand outside is fabulous, probably the bestmexicanfood in pittsburgh, and i love to buy their fresh tortillas when i want to make nicemexicanfood at home. the prices seem high for many of the other products inside, many of which are available in regular supermarkets.

tongue!. although not always listed, the taco stand does have lengua (tongue). i usually get one tongue, one fish and a cup of hibiscus agua fresca. a great lunch for $8.

really happy to see pittsburgh palates expanding beyond bad ground beef tacos with industrial toppings that are so common around here.

now if we could only get a sophisticated sit-downmexicanrestaurant w/o freaking combo plates and goldfish bowl margaritas life would be excellent!

get the take out burritos. every spice / herb and hot sauce you'd ever need to make authenticmexicancuisine and then some ...

try the various take out foods - burritos, empanadas and etcetra - take home and heat in your microwave/oven - delicious ...

best tacos. the first time i went down to the strip district was back in january. it was a cold, wet day and as i walked down the sidewalk i noticed a line of about 10 people standing in front of amexicangrocery store. when i went to find out what everyone was waiting for i discovered a guy making tacos outside the store. i figured that if people were willing to suffer in the freezing rain for a couple of these tacos, it must be worth it. these tacos were worth every second of the wait. you can get 2 tacos for $5 or 3 for $7 (i think $7, i usually get 2). a little note, get everything on your taco. each topping adds something essential to the taste. also, try the several fresh made salsa he has sitting in the front of his booth. since discovering these addicting gems i've been going to the strip district almost every weekend with the sole intention of scarfing down a couple of fresh made tacos.

oh, and also, stop in the grocery store for amexicanpop, and buy some of the fresh made salsa and tortillas to take home.

good mexican. i always go to this place to grab amexicancoke (the one in the big beat-up looking glass bottles) because it's made with real sugar as opposed to high fructose corn syrup. their homemade, fresh tortilas - flour and corn - are also awesome. you can watch them make them with a big machine if you're there at the right time. you buy them by the bag and if you get there at the right time they're still warm to the touch. they're a great, cheap way to add a whole lot of authenticity to your average taco night.

the thing that makes reyna's special is during nice days they have a cart out front where they make burritos, tacos and many other authenticmexicandelights. i haven't had their burrito yet because their tacos are sooo good. they're made the way i assume a taco truck in california prepares them. very bare-boned but brimming with the flavors of fresh cilantro, onion, tomato and a dash of salt and pepper. they use their homemade corn tortillas which are a must-try for anyone who is only familiar with the ortega style of corn tortilla - hard and stale. these are soft but get a little crunchy after they fry them lightly on their hot stovetop.

they also offered churros and a selection of juices which i have never had. there's nothing like three chicken tacos and a tall, coldmexicancoke on a hot day.
