stopped in while we were visiting the container park and fremont street. small restaurant with a very chic, hipster feel. i could dig it though. food was great! i got a reuben with the chips. the chips were warm and homemade! delicious!goodspot to stop in for brunch and not expensive for the vegas area.

located in downtown vegas, a spot revisited by locals and extra brownie points if found by tourists. it's a local spot that has a great sense of community with emphasis on all things comfort. all ingredients are responsibly sourced with leafy greens locally sourced. the space comes together with different elements from the green colored walls, to the exposed brick with the mixture of mismatched paintings and decor. bringing in a bright and relaxed atmosphere, great breakfast brunch vibe that’s rumored to push out pretty damngoodcomfort food.

we all ended up getting sandwiches which were all served on their ciabatta bun, let’s just rave over how perfect this bread was. crisp outer layer with the soft spongy interior that soaks up all the juices and sauces that are layered on. talk about levels of flavour. who knew the bun that a sandwich is served on could elevate the meal so much more.

shrimp po’boy - ($14) - juicy sautéed shrimp topped with spicy napa slaw and cilantro finished with a sriracha mayo. this was a darngoodsandwich. spicy mayo and the spicy slaw gave a reallygoodkick in flavour and there was a hefty amount of shrimp stuffed in between. recommend 100%

roast beef - ($14) - the flawless layers of roast beef with another flawless layer of arugula, presentation alone was captivating. served with mayo with sprinkles of pickled red onions, this was a heavy sandwich compared to the shrimp but flavours were awesome and also really satisfying.

free range chicken - ($12) one of the more basic sandwiches with the added addition of their pesto mayo; which was probably the ingredient that stood out the most. added with that ciabatta bun and boy, this basic juicy chicken sandwich just leveled up to a whole new experience.

all of the sandwich choices had a slice of pickle and the added option of choosing between chip, soup, salad or potato salad. i opted for chips and the other two got the potato salad. my chips were yummy, but the potato salad wasn't a crowd pleaser for us. not creamy enough to our liking i suppose.

service wasn't spectacular. had to ask our server twice for a water refill, huffed when we wanted to clarify the brunch menu items and all in all didn't seem pleased that she had to serve us. she also didn't remember to add our orange juice to the bill, which made up for the shoddy service.

downtown las vegas has rallied around eat. it's what the #dtlv experience is supposed to be about. and in many ways it is. a new, hotspot restaurant, in the lobby of an apartment building in severe need of somegoodnews.

and as a downtowner, i'm genuinely happy to see this place stay alive as long as it has. but that's sort of where my review ends. i've eaten there a few times. and have never really been inspired to write a review, positive or negative, either way...so the best i can come up with is "it's not bad".

there's nothing on the menu i'd dislike. their sandwiches are generally well done. maybe a bit thick on the bread, a bit thin on everything else. salads aregoodtoo - but nothing anyone who eats out often, hasn't experienced a 100 times over, yet tasty.

i should add, the on a couple of occasions he service has been maybe "overly attentive", if not a tad confused.

but the biggest flaw at eat is the noise on the inside. during peak hours, the cacophony is scientifically bewildering, if not medically deafening. the combination of hard floors, large windows, the ceiling and noisy bay area suburbanites (who have invaded #dtlv in the form of #techbros) are the issue.

eat, please do your wait staff a huge favor and add some sound proofing. i'd eat there more. sorry for the flat review. but a solid 3.0 for the food being good. but from a guy who likes his music loud, please fix the noise.

after dining at eat, i am happy to report thatgoodfood can be found in downtown vegas. the breakfast items at eat are huge and very tasty. our waitress did an excellent job of recommending items and chef natalie young has developed a restaurant that serves asgooda breakfast as i have had anywhere in las vegas. i highly recommend that you give this restaurant a try if you visit the downtown/fremont st. area.

horrible horrible horrible service. the service was terrible. this is the first and the last time i will eat at this place. first we got there and the it was fairly busy, the host was not polite, ok it is busy i can let it slide, then we sit down thinking ok this place looks fun and will have reallygoodfood. our waiter and waitress come to take our order, i had the blt my husband had the chicken sandwich, i asked for no avocado with cheese, my husband asked for no avocado no mayo and no cheese. my sandwich comes out with no cheese on it, and my husbands comes out with avocado. we very specifically asked for no avocado because i am allergic to it. we also ordered an extra side of chips. so both sandwiches come out wrong, again it is ok it can be fixed. after another ten minutes on top of the twenty we had already been waiting our orders come out complete. the food was great. we sat and waited for the check, it comes out, we send our form of payment which was a card and our receipt comes back out with a larger amount. we ask what the extra amount was for and they tell us oh ya we sent out the wrong receipt at first so we just charged your card the right amount and brought it out to you. this was my last straw with this place. my husband and i did not put up an argument purely because they wasted most of our lunch getting our order wrong and at this point our card was already charged. i was super disappointed because i had heard suchgoodthings about this place and the food was really good, but i would never go back purely because the services was so terrible. my recommendation is if you choose to go here get take out so you do not have to deal with the staff but defiantly check your food and your ticket before you leave to make sure it is correct, even if it is not they will tell you that is and that is what they are charging and feeding you. actually my recommendation is go somewhere else. there are many many many other establishments within a two to three block radius that i would give a five start rating too, such as anthony's pizza, rachel's kitchen, cus cus, mediterranean grill, expressions cafe, all of which are much cheaper in price per plate and equally or more delicious.

the dwblta ($11), their version of a blt, was asgoodas you’ll find and the same can be said about the pancakes ($9). with slightly crispy edges and a fluffy texture, it can easily be billed as one of the better pancakes in town. syrup is available, but isn’t needed. the chicken apple sausage on top was great, as well. it wasn’t a cheap breakfast, but the quality is well worth it. the brunch menu on weekends is fairly small, much more so than the usual breakfast or lunch menu on weekdays. so, plan your visit accordingly.

fluffy pancakes with a lightly crispy edge with maple syrup & gravy that was not heavy.. pancakes were light. having maple syrup, which is not difficult to do, was a nice touch. gravy for chicken fried steak was not heavy, but was flavorful withgoodtexture. server was a little dry but the lively & efficient runner/bus lady more than compensated for his pacing. beignets were very good--i think they were yeast instead of choux. return visits on my next time in las are already planned. restaurant was recommended by coworker in sf bay area who is frequent vegas visitor.

eat is currently the only restaurant of it’s kind downtown, and it’s quite a bit more “revitalized” than the neighborhood that surrounds it. chef natalie young delivers where it counts withgoodfood across the board and a couple of standouts to keep people coming back. when people look back on the rejuvenation of downtown and ask which came first, the vibrant urban eateries or the vibrant urban community the answer will be clear: eat came first.

downtown is growing into it's own, shedding it's identity crisis of yesteryear. click below to read more... as the surroundings are still a bit shaky, the actual building was ingoodsolid condition and the parking around the corner gave a sense of safety and comfort (still faintly reminiscent of 'the walking dead' with zombies eerily meandering the streets).... and as soon as you walk in, you feel a new presence has just emerged, a real sense of place.
