located on the top of havelock road, earl's secret has a very nice ambience to it, especially the glass room, which is where we were seated.

the restaurant serves, indian, continental and south east asian, and most of what we ordered was from the latter two cuisines. with the hype and high rating of this restaurant, i must say that the food in general was a disappointment.

in the starters, we ordered the paneer tikka, vietnamese spring rolls, bruschetta, double decker mushroom and the crispy potato. the paneer seemed slightly undercooked, and was not tender, which is how it should be. the spring rolls were not made uniformly, some were bland while some were very spicy. the double decker mushtroom seemed to be something out of an ametur cook's kitchen rather than a restaurant that has a rating of 4.9/5. bruschetta was the only good starter.

in the nain course, we ordered the spaghetti in pesto sauce and mee goreng. the spaghetti was good, although not great but the mee goreng was just wrong as dish, there was nothing specific that made it bad but everything about it was like that.

if you are planning to go to this restaurant, i would suggest going with the indian, which i believe is fantastic. however, having not tried any of the indian dishes other than the paneer tikka, i cannot vouch for the same.

considering the location and the overall standard of dishes, i would say that if you are inootyjust for a few days, you can give this place a miss. you won't be missing out on anything.

the place has a very good ambience and that's the only rrason they get crowd
however the service is pathetic
they took almost an hour to get the soup
these people dont ever have the audacity to listen
bringing one dish in every 30-40 mins then everyone is waiting hungry for the next dish
worst ever experience
this place spoiled our mood & 3+ hours.
i don't recommend this place to anyone and will highlight the issues in social media too
u can't just fool people because u got a good location

one thing i would always suggest ppl visitingootyis "never visit this place ever" u will end up wasting your time, mood & money

been here recently seeing the 4.9 rating ( which is fishy given the no of 1 stars the restaurant have ).
ambience and customer interaction wise place is great, but a restaurant is only as good as it's food . given the cuisine and recommendations we went with an italian dish (chefs recommendations) and the dish was very average. like it was no where near to the hype and price.
indian food also not up to the mark.
there is absolutely no reason one should go to the place there are much better places to visit inooty.

earl's secret is hands down the best place for fine-dine in ooty. the ambience is exuberant, with both outdoor and indoor seating options. the ambience is par excellence, given the fact that the establishment is an old british era bungalow turned into a restaurant. i picked the indoor seating given how coldootygets at night, and got a table by the fireplace! i must say it was super comfortable and helped me unwind. the ambience scores a perfect 5/5!

the food options range from continental to indian and chinese, and i managed to try the french onion soup, the manchow soup, the cottage cheese steak, and the chicken lasagna. i loved all the dishes, particularly the soups. perfect in flavour, albeit pricey.
my companions tried the north indian items, they found it scrumptious and the portion size was pretty good too.

the only downside would be the sluggish service, although the waiters are extremely kind and patient. some dishes took a considerable amount of waiting.

earl's secret is the perfect mix of old-world charm and contemporary service, well nestled for a family outing, or even a date.

after doing a research on zomato for an italian cuisine in and around ooty, we decided to drive to earls secret! it’s around 20mins drive fromootyand to a secluded place. however, i’m glad to share that it was worth it. ambience had impressed me already and when food arrived i was more than happy to have got to this restaurant. we had been here for lunch, waiting time was around 20mins, but we used this time to explore the place around and clicked some pics as it had an amazing view point. so below is my rating:
ambience- 10
food- 9 (only that food could have been warmer, but i assume that was due to the weather)
staff- 10
prices- 6 (definitely a bit on the pricy side considering one bruschetta was for 400/-)

i would highly recommend this place to spend some quality time with you loved ones and chill out.

pets allowed :)

we saw a rating of 4.9 and were finally looking forward to a nice restaurant inootybut unfortunately they do not have enough resources to manage the demand. we waited 45 mins to get a table and another 45 mins to get our plates served. the staff was friendly and apologetic but 1.5 hrs is just too long a waiting time for food. the food tasted just fine and definitely not worth the money. you would easily get better food in a regular 3 star hotel at 60% the price. adding a picture of an empty table because that was my view for the first 45 mins.

had been to earl's secret during my recent visit toootyin the month of december.
i personally loved the ambiance and decore of the place . an old british style house that is converted into a cafe. the inside seating is very tastefully decorated.
what adds up is the outdoor seating area amidst a small garden around the house - which is actually a glass house.
thankfully i had reached here in time so that i had the privilege to choose where i want to be seated - a word of caution - if u get here late. the place is full.

we had scotch eggs, earl's roasted lamb and a hot coffee for that afternoon.
since scotch eggs has beeg mentioned we requested for it to be made with chicken - and they obliged for the request and made the dish with chicken.
this was really yummy - cane kn with sour cream and a small portion of salad - sour cream actually enhanced the taste of the dish .
earl's roasted lamm - a tastefully plated dish - with soft and succulent lamb slices - a portion of herbed rice and blanched and grilled veggies. i really loved this one. the meat is well processed and tasted heavenly.

consistency of hot chocolate was decent enough.
would really love to visit this place in evening hour in my next visit to ooty.
this is will one place that u would not regret having been to .

this used to be out go to place inootyand a trip toootywasn't complete without a meal here.

was there earlier today for lunch and was surprised to see how badly managed the entire place was.

service was the slowest ever, the chicken tikka masala was a real put off with the chicken pieces feeling like rubber.. was unable to cut the chicken piece with a butter knife.

with the prices being steep, and the crowd that they regularly have they cannot afford to have a bad day on service. a dish going wrong once in a way is understandable but poor/ extremely slowservice cannot be pardoned.

i'm surely not going to be back again.

earl’s secret is a picturesque location with vintage settings and flavoursome food. the most beautiful and serene restaurant inootywhich offers my three best cuisines - indian, italian and chinese. although, the cream of the cake was the customer service of the staffs. they were extremely accommodating, hospitable and just rocking awesome! we thoroughly enjoyed our visit and will definitely be back too.

the moment a trip toootywas on the cards, this was one place i wanted to check out because i’ve heard so many people go gaga over it.  earl’s secret is located in a hotel called kings cliff and seemed quite popular with many.  luckily it so happened that we stayed not very far away from this place, and i didn’t have to go searching for it.  immediately decided to check it out for lunch.

one of the best places for continental fare not only forootybut i dare say bangalore as well.
the perfectly done scotched eggs, the light on the soul cream of chicken soup and the house special brownie - it was an experience in its own rights. the old world charm of the place tucked in a remote corner, the warm fire and the ever helpful stewards made it really a night to remember. a special shout out to sathya for reccomending the house favourites and being around all the time and sharing the history of the place.
