save your $$$.. thought we'd give them another chance having not been there for 5 years or so. wish we hadn't. rubbery, frozen, imported-tasting scallops, bland sauces (the bearnaise was served chilled and tasted like it had come straight from the jar- the vinegar fumes nearly blew our heads off!), rancid-tasting oysters in the carpet bag steak, vegies limited to a greasy 1/2 potato, 4 overcooked snow peas and 1/2 a plain grilled tomato. thesteakwas ok, but could have done with a bit of seasoning. cooked pretty much to order, but we did see other patrons returning steaks for under/over- doneness. very disappointing given the prices ($38 main course + $4 extra for the sauce and that was a mid-priced main), the restaraunt's longevity, and their so-called specialisation in steak. i can only assume that the reason dyer's has survived is due to patronage by friends and unsophisticated diners with low standards and expectations. pretty dismal.

the food guru !. well the end of the week is here and dinner time is approaching, so a nicesteakand a smooth red to match, sounds good doesn't it, dyerssteakstable is the place for me to get my fix ! yes i have been here a few times before tonight, being a chef of some note this restaraunt never lets me down the menu is classic, the wine list is fantastic value with without doubt a premium selection unsurpassed in regional australia. i have eaten many good steaks here before but tonight's is sensational the chef excelled, a proper peppersteakcooked and rested perfectly, my partner decided to go with the duckling, again perfection on a plate crispy skin a sensational orange jus without being to sweet, great entrées also are on the menu and of course desserts to finish. what a great institution we have here, check it out for yourself

three for dinner last friday evening. goodness where do i start:
no jack daniels (1)
only six (6) oysters - you have to be kidding me. i was lucky to have my six but my husband - none.
so therefore no carpetbagsteakbecause no oysters.
average food, my husband had two pieces ofsteakas part of his beef & reef.
average green beans.
wine and food - way too expensive for what we got.
$419 later - none of us shall be returning or certainly recommending

debbie hinton. a friend recommended dyerssteakstable to me and i must admit its appearance put me off slightly but once i entered the restaurant i was immediately surprised.
very intimate but yet quaint and friendly.
the service was impeccable and thesteakmelted in my mouth.
overall i would rate this restaurant 8/10..
it was reasonably priced also..

pretty average. bookings are essential otherwise you will be seated near the toilet with a strong odour of urinal cakes wafting over you. service was poor as was the lighting. the one upside was thesteakitself but as others have already stated the sides are seriously lacking in quality and quantity.

the britts. what a treat. excellent service and loveysteakgarlic prawns delicious. oysters kil beaut. my five year old daughter loved every mouthful of her tender steak.

beststeakin ballarat if not australia! owned by the same family for over 40 years. this place is built on the best of tradition, come for thesteakand the wine, if you want a coffee then dyers is not for you, go to l'espresso (it is great but it's not dyers). just sensational, as always!

diner review - 8th june, 2013. was in ballarat for the long weekend with friends & were busting to go to dyers after reading all the positive reviews. we have been to the ballaratsteakhouse before & thought we'd give dyers a try. thesteakwas great but the vegetables were disappointing, 4x beans, half a potato. don't know why they bothered. the room was very dark so difficult to see. they didn't have soy milk which i find interesting when allergies are so common. i wouldn't be in a hurry to go back, but it was ok.

superb food, impeccable service, my husband and i dine here regulary, never to be disappointed, i would definitely recommend dyerssteakstable first and foremost every time.

terrible service and not willing to cook seat in a manner customers ask. the other dedicatedsteakhouse in town is much better.

my favorite resturant in ballarat. every single time i have friends from overseas or interstate. it's the first place we head too. fantastic service and great consistent food. we love. if visiting ballarat !! it's a must. you can't go past ballarat's firststeak institution.

topsteakin the dark!. pepper eye filletsteakwas outstanding cooked rare to my liking. i would have taken a photo but unfortunately the setting was really dark, it was even hard to make out what else was on the plate.

cozy with great service, steaks are highly recommended.

amazing. i was in ballarat last week, and went for dinner to the dyerssteakstable, it was amazing. i had the peppersteakand it was really fantastic. the staff were very friendly and helpful throughout the night. the wine list has a great selection. beautiful atmosphere inside, very charming, and great little bar!
i will definitely be back next time im in ballarat!

the beststeakin ballarat. goodsteakbut crap service. very cliquey place to eat if you are a regular you are treated like royalty but if you are a casual diner you are ignored. we will never go back. reputations can be deceiving.
