wow what a find! i was in the restaurant industry for a long time and know when i'm in a good restaurant. a friend recommended it to me and we were definitely not disappointed. it is right in the heart of historical ballarat in an old stables building. the moment i walked in i knew it was going to beamazingjust by the 30 or so empty bottles of grange on show. went there with 4 people and we all naturally ordered chargrilled eye fillet's done in different ways with different sauces. they were all cooked to perfection,amazingflavour and the beef was of top quality and they were very generous portions. we had a drink at the bar first ordered our meals and when they were ready we were accompanied to our table. beautiful old fashioned hot rolls were served and we had a selection of the entree's to share including oyster's mornay and kilpatrick which were delicious. the wine list is superb and campbell the waiter is a pro. i must say what did stand out to me was the old fashioned ambience which was perfect. do not miss this place if you are in ballarat. old world beauty at it's best!

endless disappointment!. the previous review about the disastrous food says it all - they can't get anything right, not even the sauce. plus the actual venue is pretty much a brown shoebox with tiny holes for windows. very cramped and claustrophobic-feeling. for such expensive food of an appalling quality, i'd rather eat dog food in an elevator. i'm not the type of person who asks for their money and wasted time back, but wowww i'll tell anyone and everyone my two experiences with them hoping to save others the wasted time and money. i strongly recommend walking around the corner, to ballarat steakhouse - cheaper,amazingquality and fantastic staff and environment, easily one of ballarat's finest restaurants!!!

what aamazingnight. the atmosphere was great with the right amount of lighting and noise. the service was very cheerful and fantastic and the steak was great. my wife had sea food which she loved and the meals where massive and well worth the price and trip from melbourne
