gift voucher went to waste. we had a gift voucher to go here and i was still sad that we wasted money! the voucher was for a substantial amount of money and yet, after ordering two mains and an entree, we didn't have enough left over for drinks. thefoodwas far below what i expected.

when i went to open the door, i assumed it must be closed, because it was so dark inside. not many others were in the restaurant and the atmosphere was pretty dreary. i know that dyer's has been there for a long time, so was excited to see what it was like. unfortunately, i was not impressed.

thefoodguru !. well the end of the week is here and dinner time is approaching, so a nice steak and a smooth red to match, sounds good doesn't it, dyers steak stable is the place for me to get my fix ! yes i have been here a few times before tonight, being a chef of some note this restaraunt never lets me down the menu is classic, the wine list is fantastic value with without doubt a premium selection unsurpassed in regional australia. i have eaten many good steaks here before but tonight's is sensational the chef excelled, a proper pepper steak cooked and rested perfectly, my partner decided to go with the duckling, again perfection on a plate crispy skin a sensational orange jus without being to sweet, great entrées also are on the menu and of course desserts to finish. what a great institution we have here, check it out for yourself

would recommend. both steaks were tasty and accurately cooked, vegetables were eff, although a couple of veges on the plate would have been welcome.
prices range from $33 to $40 for a main, so while not inexpensive, the staff are friendly and thefoodis some of the better i've experienced in ballarat.
wine list was a bit sparse, however it's evident at least one of the owners is a wine drinker from the good selection.
note that i'm toning down my review here for ballarat, i went in with low expectations, and was pleasantly surprised.

three for dinner last friday evening. goodness where do i start:
no jack daniels (1)
only six (6) oysters - you have to be kidding me. i was lucky to have my six but my husband - none.
so therefore no carpetbag steak because no oysters.
average food, my husband had two pieces of steak as part of his beef & reef.
average green beans.
wine andfood- way too expensive for what we got.
$419 later - none of us shall be returning or certainly recommending

a great find. on business looking for a feed like home and found it. nice people and a relaxed atmosphere. not a fancy melbourne place but good wholesomefoodand a great cut of steak. nice wine list well worth looking at the unlisted shelf!

simple and classic!. another wonderful evening my husband and i experienced at dyer's on our annual trip to ballarat! coming from melbourne we would highly recommend dyer's to anyone visiting. the classic, hearty menu that has scarcely changed since the place opened, has never failed to disappoint us over the past 10 years or so that we have been going there. perfectly cooked, tender and juicy steaks, at reasonable prices for their excellent quality. why pay at least $30.00 plus in any other restaurant and some pubs when you can have premium quality steak for not much more? the oysters killpatrick had my husband raving, and we both enjoyed sharing the delicious apple and rhubarb crumble! good selection of wines, terrific service, and a warm and ambient atmosphere. dyer's steak stable is classic in every sense of the word and thefoodis consistently good, highly recommended!

endless disappointment!. the previous review about the disastrousfoodsays it all - they can't get anything right, not even the sauce. plus the actual venue is pretty much a brown shoebox with tiny holes for windows. very cramped and claustrophobic-feeling. for such expensivefoodof an appalling quality, i'd rather eat dogfoodin an elevator. i'm not the type of person who asks for their money and wasted time back, but wowww i'll tell anyone and everyone my two experiences with them hoping to save others the wasted time and money. i strongly recommend walking around the corner, to ballarat steakhouse - cheaper, amazing quality and fantastic staff and environment, easily one of ballarat's finest restaurants!!!

what a amazing night. the atmosphere was great with the right amount of lighting and noise. the service was very cheerful and fantastic and the steak was great. my wife had seafoodwhich she loved and the meals where massive and well worth the price and trip from melbourne
