...more for the view really... the food was so so.  most of the dishes were very stodgy.  was quite disappointed spicy ox cheek doughnut with apricot jam it was coated with tonssssss of paprika.   the dough with a bit too thick without much ox cheek inside its signature dish - duck & waffle, served with maple syrup creamy duck egg served on top of a confit duck leg.   it's not bad..  bbq pork ears  it's quite nice but we've noticed some hair still attached to it..

this restaurant/bar is on the 40th floor and as i am someone who is scared of heights, needless to say this was a tad scary for me, however the lift up is super fast, and the ambience in the bar/restaurant is very relaxing. the view was well worth the fear so please don't be deterred if you are scared of heights. the whole place was very luxurious and the drinks were exceptional. they smelt and tasted very nice. we ended up getting 'bar food' which is hard to call it bar food as it is immaculately presented. all in all, great experience!

it does get crowded, but that's because the food is great and the prices are reasonable.

worst service in london. the most hideous service i have had to date in london. food was very good, totally let down by the waiting staff. it was a total waste of a morning and money. i and 10 friends will not be returning. the chef should work somewhere else as their food is totally let down - it wasn't busy and i imagine when people get over the fact there is good views it along with sushi samba will remain empty.

duck & waffle is london’s highest restaurant. situated high up on the 40th floor at the heron tower, the restaurant offers sophisticated food with a panoramic view of london to match with. in addition, the restaurant runs 24/7, providing services through breakfast, lunch, dinner and till late night as well as brunch for sundays. one can imagine such iconic restaurant would be rather pricey but in fact, the prices are not daunting at all.

the octopus dish was average, not a disaster but also not the best octopus i have had. but the grouse dish did let me down. the meat was nice, but the gravy was too overpowering, i dipped my meat in it and then found it too hard to eat it, the bread with pate on top was not amazing, and the crisps that were supposed to be cooked in grouse fat were just soggy and not tasty at all.

..... duck & waffle is a cocktail bar and restaurant, serving food and drinks 24 hours a day every day. it is famous for the stunning views of london and, of course, for its signature dish: fried duck egg and leg, served on warm waffles with spiced maple syrup. part of the experience of visiting duck & waffle is taking the lift that from the street takes you straight to the 40th floor in just a few seconds. avoid if you are afraid of heights! when the day arrived, we dragged ourselves out of the house on one of the coldest day of the year to get there for our 7:45 reservation, but delays on the northern line meant that we arrived 30 minutes late. nobody answered the restaurant phone, so we weren't able to inform them of our delay. whilst our table reservation had been

when my alarm started sounding at 06:30am on a day off, i did doubt the table i'd booked a few weeks before. yes, i had to book weeks in advance and yes, the only booking i could get was 08:15am. but, eating breakfast 230m in the clouds at duck & waffle sure is an experience. check out my mini review on urban spoon here . i spent friday night in brighton meeting some other food bloggers and we enjoyed some great tapas in solera . it was the perfect place to go for a larger group, the sangria was great and i'm still surprised at how reasonable the bill was.  crumbs and doilies has proved to me that cupcakes were definitely not a phase and i still love them. not only have i enjoyed scrolling through their instagram snaps , jemma the owner's how-to's on youtube , they also have the cutest packaging i've seen in a long time.  speaking of youtube, i worked on a little recipe for onken as part of their #onkentips campaign. using yogurt in baking is a great alternative to fat and it ensures your bakes are light, moist and creamy. in this video you'll see me and some fellow bloggers give a quick run through our #onkentips. if you fancy giving the lemon and blueberry loaf cake a go, the recipe can be found on their facebook page . and now, after all this cupcake and waffle eating, i'm off to prepare some 'healthy' work meals for the week ahead!

reserving a table here is like a competition, even when it’s open for 24 hours.

went here a couple of time and the food is consistently goooood.
had their spicy ox cheek doughnut and foie gras creme brulee for appetizer and duck and waffle and 38 day aged angus bone-in rib-eye for main dish.

i don’t mind waiting for my reservation date to come with the quality of the food they serve. the combination are thoughtful as well as the amazing taste. personally, i’d have the rib-eye and foie gras creme brulee anytime of the day.

a view to die for, this place is just perfect. one of my favourite places in london. go for drinks with friends, early morning breakfast or a lunch date, this place is suitable for all occasion.
specially love the super quick lift. going up is a thrilling experience.

although the venue is pleasant enough with a shabby chic new york style decor, the view is really what everything is about. we were lucky enough to be sat on a table in one of the restaurant’s corners where we could both get lost in the breathtaking view or equally entertain ourselves by spotting landmarks whilst waiting for our dishes to arrive. whilst many restaurants with height choose to equally rocket their prices, duck & waffle have created a menu which doesn’t

never in my life have i felt so discriminated against - you have to think something is up when every single brown or black person gets told the restaurant is either closed or that they are too drunk to get in when everyone else, over the hour that we waited, that approached the door, regardless of how paralytic drunk they were, were allowed in with no question. the doorman, michael, who refused to give us his full name or any contact details as to how to complain, not only refused us entry (which i agree is his/the restaurant's right) but ignored every question from us as to why we were rejected or how to go about rectifying the situation. whilst the doormen stood behind the door, clearly laughing at us and making jokes at our expense, we attempted to get contact details for the managers to file a complaint but were completely ignored each time. i have been to duck & waffle twice before but will never go again after this appalling treatment. unless you would like to be insulted, disrespected and bullied, i would avoid this restaurant at all costs.

considering you'll spend about the same amount as a ticket to go on the london eye or up the shard but have some delicious food and better views, duck & waffle is great value. the service was excellent throughout our vist and they recently announced that it would be open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. i've no idea how much trade they do in the small hours but next time i'm in the area at stupid o'clock i may well popup for a drink, snack and another look at those views.
