as an oldie i'm new to this game of restaurant reviews and after finding urbanspoon for the first time decided to look up somewhere nice for our visit to mandurah. the previous comments ford'lightscafe piqued my curiosity, especially chick 12 who seems to be vehemently defending "new owners" whilst denigrating "old owners". strange i thought because someone created a business that was saleable & reputable if other comments are to be believed.
so, i'm sad to say my experience here was not pleasant. for such a pretty spot to eat i really expected something new & exciting in the way of food & service and was completely let down on both scores. we had a sandwich of stale bread and a burger with chips, burger bun also stale & hard. we tried to let our feelings be known to the person who served us, but got the response "i'll let the kitchen know". hopefully that helped the next customer but did nothing for my wife & i who walked away feeling hungry after paying top dollar for a below par meal that was i edible. i'll also add that it was sunday but not a long weekend. altogether a very disappointing experience. perhaps chick12 should take a hint from genuinely unhappy customers instead of making excuses.

fed up. for 10 years have enjoyedd'lightscafé for lunches and regularly had an iced chocolate, the best in mandurah. it seems there is a new owner and the last two times i have been there has been very disappointing. recently wanted a croissant with a filling and they had run out of croissants. today the sunday of the australia day long weekend they had run out of chocolate syrup. it is a shame to see such a nice place be spoiled by poor management so i will never go again.

perfect breaky retreat. i findd'lightsone of the most homely and lovely cafes mandurah has to offer. i am a frequent visitor of this café and am never disappointed. all day breakfast, huge lunch and breakfast portions which are bang for your buck! excellent coffee! my favourite is the prawn and mango salad!

there has been new owners for a few months now and the café is still perfect! they have done a fantastic job. changes have been made and are all in all great changes that should have been made a long time ago e.g. the great new kids menu.

the staff atd'lightsare very helpful and caring towards any issues or changes you want to the food. the two guys (one is the manager the other is blonde) give a lovely happy smile to me and others every time and makes personal jokes and connections that make you feel like a special regular. the sunday staff are always helpful and cheery no matter if there's a rush and a line outside the door.

this café is amazing! great work everyone!

great food-great people. my partner and i eat atd'lightscafe quite often and enjoy it every time.no matter where we go in our travels(perth, down south etc etc) we always judge a big breakfast to the one served byd'lightsand every time the others are found wanting-though good- they can't match thed'lightsbig brekky.don't know where erin (7th aug review) was coming from- we have never had soggy toast or "metalic"tasting mushrooms ?????.we know the difference between good food and average food and withd'lightscafe we just love it every time.dave and the great crew(both young and a little bit older than young-you know who you are hehe) treat us like long lost friends every time(something you don't always get elsewhere !!!!).keep it up d'lights-we love it !!!!!(and will keep coming back for sure)

great cafe/location. our opinion is completely the opposite from erin (7th august review). we go there every day becaused'lightsserves the best flat whites in mandurah. we like it strong (so it tastes like coffee) but not bitter and it is perfect at d'lights. the food is well cooked, served in a timely manner, affordable, plentiful with a great variety and the staff are very willing to accommodate special requests - you only have to ask. we have found the staff consistently cheerful, helpful, friendly and very obliging. very occasionly, over the past few years, things have gone wrong (as it does in all our daily lives) but one only has to draw the owner's or staff's attention to it and it is immediately rectified. don't criticise after the event, tell the owner at the time if you have a bad experience so he can put it right. we love it and the location is good too! so give it a go and form your own opinion - we are sure that you will be d'lighted.
