update/p.390 hotellosgatos  210 e. main st., (866) 335-1700, (408) 335-1700.  71 rooms; $$$-$$$+.  some fireplaces.  heated pool; hot tub; sauna; full-service spa; fitness room.  restaurant; room service.  located just down the street from a ferrari/bentley showroom, this luxuriously spacious property has a colorful tuscan-country style.  public spaces are decorated with mexican tiles and pottery, studded leather chairs, and ornate wood-inlayed moroccan tables.  a sort of mediterranean hacienda, it melds the two architectural styles with a terracotta-tiled roof and a spacious interior courtyard with palm trees and fountains.  attractive art is displayed throughout.  guest rooms are furnished luxuriously with richly colorful silk drapes and comforters, soft egyptian cotton linens, and tile-and-granite bathrooms.

"hotellosgatos" a boutique hotel incidentally takes the name of the town "los gatos", is home to a restaurant that goes by the name
"dio deka", which interestingly has managed to tuck neatly under its sleeve, a "michelin single ⭐️ star"; which was more than enough raison d'être for me to check in there. the 30 year old hotel still maintains its rustic feel and has rooms, corridors and furniture reminiscent of a beatdown mediterranean-style hotel.

"dio deka" draws its nomenclature from the address of "hotellosgatos" (i.e. 210 main street and "dio deka" in greek translates to "2-10", which incidentally happens to be the area code of athens). so having exhausted almost an entire day meandering through silicon valley; i decided to have an early dinner (@ 05.45 pm, coz that was the only reservation slot available; but that did not deter from me reserving my seats there) and so i eagerly made a beeline for "dio deka" and reached there smack on time. i went absolutely crazy on the hors d'oeuvres and by the time i even got to the "plat principal"; i was left with no alternative but to totally relinquish the dessert segment, due to gastric volume-constraints. the culinary offerings at the "dio deka", i was told were plain orgasmic and post donning the garbs of an astute judge of culinary offerings; i was compelled to pass the verdict that it was indeed proven beyond reasonable doubt that "orgasmic" was probably an understatement. the culinary offerings, that were dispatched down my esophagus were as follows;

pinot noir, goldeneye, anderson valley, california u.s.a, 2014...

wild king puréed salmon on cucumbers...

pita bread...

chilled asparagus & potato soup...

saganaki - feta cheese crusted with nuts & seeds, farro, roasted
beets, mavrodaphne sauce...

octopus - mesquite-grilled mediterranean octopus 🐙, octopus ragu & charred chicories...

pork riblets - slow-cooked, honey-brined, mustard & herbs...

trout - mt. lassen rainbow trout, variations of peas, golden potatoes, saffron fumet...

artichoke and asparagus - served with warm panisse, oven-dried tomatoes & charred lemon crema...

fillet mignon - 8 oz. usda "natural prime", northern angus beef, dry-aged in-house for 28 days...

creamed spinach...

of all of the foregoing i must say the "pièce de résistance" was without a shade of doubt the "mesquite-grilled mediterranean octopus 🐙, octopus ragu & charred chicories."

maybe i am not the appropriate person writing a review for them but i share a sense of belonging with this place. the sole reason being our annual company offsite being held here every year up until the last.

the hotellosgatos where dio deka is, is in an upscale locality.losgatos in itself is pretty upscale hamlet near san jose and san frisco. we used to lodge here as well so starting from breakfast to lunch used to be the buffet spread they offered.

all in all food here is authentic greek as i have come to understand and the taste of course is exemplary. the use of yoghurt and minimal spices is what excites me about greek food.
the steaks are a stand-out and so are the freakishly awesome chocolate balls which melt right away once you pop them in your mouth. panacottas is the other recommendation.

my review is based on the conference lunch spreads only.

fabulous food and service, but don't expect to get ketchup. dio deka has absolutely wonderful food, service, decor, and just about everything you could want. however, if you want ketchup with those fries, forget it - unless you bring your own. i asked for it once and was told that they do not serve it. why not? "it's not greek" i was told.

dio deka - wonderful greek fusion restaurant inlosgatos. i have eaten at dio deka twice, both times lunch, and been very impressed with the food, service, and atmosphere.

my one pet peeve: they don't serve condiments (because they aren't served in greece, i'm told). so if you want ketchup with your fries, forget it - or bring your own.

dio deka is an upscale greek/mediterranean restaurant in sleepylosgatos. the location of the restaurant was lovely – in the quiet almost suburbia likelosgatos.  the restaurant is in the same building at thelosgatos hotel, which is a nice romantic looking building.  it almost felt like we were somewhere in europe, which was perfect for a dinner out. menu is fairly simple – with about two pages of choices but not overwhelmingly so. there is also a nice offering of meats off the grill – rib eye, strip loin, lamb and even porterhouse. we ordered: silogy $14 assortment of greek spreads: taramas, tzatziki, ktipiti and tirokafteri i loved every single spread, typically i love chunky spreads but these were a range of smooth to chunky spread.  i honestly don’t know what is in

today i celebrated a friend's birthday by taking her to lunch at dio deka, a fairly new greek restaurant, in the hotellosgatos. it was the first time i returned there since the restaurant had changed hands and gone hellenic.
