expectations were very high for that evening - recommended by a foodie colleague, michelin star, ta certificate of excellence, greekfoodetc etc. still there is always a lingering doubt that the actual experience may fail.

not here...from the reception to the service and finally thefood- everything was just great. i had the rack of lamb that was satisfying to see and consume, wife had the famed moussaka and that too came out with flying colors.

next time - the lamb chops and fish...

visited the restaurant for dinner with a group from work and we had a private dining room. it is an upscale restaurant and the service is good. having travelled to greece just last year i can vouch that thefoodhas authentic greek flavors with a bit of a twist.

maybe i am not the appropriate person writing a review for them but i share a sense of belonging with this place. the sole reason being our annual company offsite being held here every year up until the last.

the hotel los gatos where dio deka is, is in an upscale locality. los gatos in itself is pretty upscale hamlet near san jose and san frisco. we used to lodge here as well so starting from breakfast to lunch used to be the buffet spread they offered.

all in allfoodhere is authentic greek as i have come to understand and the taste of course is exemplary. the use of yoghurt and minimal spices is what excites me about greek food.
the steaks are a stand-out and so are the freakishly awesome chocolate balls which melt right away once you pop them in your mouth. panacottas is the other recommendation.

my review is based on the conference lunch spreads only.

fabulousfoodand service, but don't expect to get ketchup. dio deka has absolutely wonderful food, service, decor, and just about everything you could want. however, if you want ketchup with those fries, forget it - unless you bring your own. i asked for it once and was told that they do not serve it. why not? "it's not greek" i was told.

dio deka - wonderful greek fusion restaurant in los gatos. i have eaten at dio deka twice, both times lunch, and been very impressed with the food, service, and atmosphere.

my one pet peeve: they don't serve condiments (because they aren't served in greece, i'm told). so if you want ketchup with your fries, forget it - or bring your own.

poor service ruined the experience.. we’ve been here once before and left with a wonderful experience, thefoodand service were excellent.

this visit on 07/13/12 was horrible. overallfoodwas good, with the exception of the monterey red abalone. it was very chewy and salty. we ordered a bottle of wine and 3 appetizers first. the appetizers came within 2 minutes, but the wine didn’t show up till we finished the appetizers. we’re rushed by our waiter “stephen” the entire time. plus, he kept pushing for the lamb chops. we finally told him to stop rushing us, then he started to cop an attitude. if we didn’t ask him to stop rushing us, we’d have finished dinner in 45 minutes. the four of us spent over $400 and felt abused.

the place got extremely loud by 7:30p, couldn’t carry a conversation without shouting. the staff didn’t seem knowledgeable about their own food. our waiter first described the pig prepared 6 ways, then he mentioned 5 ways later. when the dish was brought by a server, he could only described to us 2 out of the 6 ways. he didn’t even offer to go find out from someone else. poor service and lacks training.

what happened to this restaurant? we would return for the food, but not with this kind of service.

the only thing that wow'd me was the bill.. back again this time we actually sat down for dinner at a table instead of the bar. they now have a michelin star so i guess things change...on a friday night it was busy but not jam packed as i remember and the weird loud techno-ish music is long gone.

what we ordered:
*grilled octopus -good cause it didn't taste like octopus
* baby cauliflower (the server suggested it at least 3 times so i figured it had to be mind blowing) - it wasn't
*john dory (wanted to try because i hear it on hell's kitchen all the time) - just ok
* stone valley farm pig - hubby liked
* chocolate cake with coffee pudding -best thing of the night!

the service was not bad but a bit rushed. we would have been in and out in an hour if we didn't put the breaks on and personally slow things down.

i did not feel thefoodwarranted the high price tag.

the bad service had us worried but....fooditself is great. so good it makes it worth dealing with amateurish service.

dio deka, i love this place and it is not only because my bff dad owns it. i would eat at this place like every week if i could! the pita bread is more than yummy, it is super good, great. it is only that pita bread is good like no other is as good as here. thefoodis the best!
